And by weep, I mean big, ugly man tears of joy. Like when your girlfriend says she wished you showed more emotion and then when you finally do tear up and cry (like at the end of Armageddon) she looks at you like you are a complete moron.

This week at GDC, Epic Games have been showing off a new tech demo for the Unreal Engine 4 called Infiltrator and now it is online for all of our eye holes. Prepare your retinas for an assault of next-gen awesomeness. It is unknown if this is simply a tech demo or if this could possibly become a game years from now as Gears of War was after the debut of Unreal Engine 3.

If you like futuristic settings and beautiful graphics having sex with your eyes then get ready.

  • What Is Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon? Maybe The Xbox Achievement List Can Shed Some Light.

Have you spent too many hours than you can count exploring Rook Island in [amazon_link id=”B0050SXX88″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Far Cry 3[/amazon_link]? Have you already reset all the outposts and shot, stabbed and mauled your way through them again? Well the wait for more Far Cry 3 may not be too far off because the mysterious Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is on its way and I will readily admit that I do not know one dam thing about it. But do I really need to? It is more Far Cry 3. It could be a downloadable pack of Vaas giving his favorite campfire recipes and I would pay money for it.

The look of the logo is what is intriguing. It completely screams 80’s in every possible way. The electrified background, the font and hot pink coloring of the Blood Dragon logo, it all looks to be going for a retro feel like when you would pump quarter after quarter into Altered Beasts or Bad Dudes at the skating rink when you were seven because you were too fat for roller skates and you would rather play as a bad dude on top of a train punching thugs in the face. Thus the name…..Bad Dudes.

    Sorry for losing track there.

Let’s take a look at the Xbox achievement list that has been released to see if we can take anything away from it.

    • Welcome to the Party, Pal – Finished Helicopter Entry
    • One Small Step – Finished First Garrison
    • Way to Go, Garri-Son – Finish all the Garrisons
    • Kill Them All – Finish all the Predator’s Path Quests
    • End Game – Finished Final Showdown
    • Nice Like Jesus – Finish all the Hostages Situations
    • Murder Nature – Kill all the Animal Types
    • Set Them Free – Destroy 5 Braincages
    • Just the Tip – Kill a Dragon with the Bow
    • Blood Dragon Down – Kill Your First Dragon
    • Dragon Slayer – Kill 25 Dragons
    • What are You Reading For? – Find all of Dr. Carlyle’s Notes
    • The Greatest Format of all Time – Find all VHS Tapes
    • Hail to the King – Reach Maximum Level and Become the Ultimate Badass
    • Running man – After saving Darling, enter Combat Mode with a Dragon and Return to Stealth
    • Tooled Up – Own all Weapons Attachment
    • Derp – Jump Down from 50 Meters
    • The Drug of the Nation – Find all TV SETS to Decrypt the Hidden Message
    • The Only True Stopper – Headshot Every Type of Enemy

Well first off, good job on the Die Hard and Evil Dead references. Finding VHS tapes further seems to give credence to the 80’s theme. So what the hell? Are we back on Rook Island in the 80’s going all Vice City on Far Cry 3? I love the mystery. Keep checking back and we will let you know as soon as we do.

  • Teaser Trailer For Broken Age, Double Fine’s Kickstarter Funded Game

Here is the first teaser trailer for Double Fine’s Broken Age which was funded by the $3.3 million that fans gave through Kickstarter last year. It is a point-and-click adventure that tells the story of two children who are living parallel lives in two very different lands.

I have to admit that I am excited about the possibilities of this game given that it is being funded by fans and can truly give Double Fine free reign to let their imagination run wild with no publisher interference.

Broken Age can be pre-ordered on PC, Mac and Linux through the game’s website and it will also be made available for the Ouya console.

  • Metal Gear Solid 5 Formally Announced. Get Ready For Kojima Confusion

AT LAST!! THE GREAT MYSTERY IS SOLVED!!

The worst kept secret in video games was officially unveiled today as Hideo Kojima announced at GDC that The Phantom Pain was indeed Metal Gear Solid 5. But he also had a bit of an ace up his sleeve and said that both The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes combine together to make Metal Gear Solid 5.

It seems like the official title will be Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. A new trailer was shown that combined footage from both previous trailers of The Phantom Pain and MGS: Ground Zeroes as well as some new info. It seems Snake has been in a coma for the past nine years and the initial hospital escape shown in The Phantom Pain trailer back in December will serve as the game’s tutorial and opening.

The game was running on a PC on the new FOX Engine and should be pretty close to what the final build will look like when the game releases, presumably on the Playstation 4.

Before you watch the trailer below just remember this is a Kojima trailer which means to fully understand the depth of what is happening you need to get sloppy drunk with some Kentucky bourbon, preferably Woodford Reserve. Then, get good and addicted to heroin. I am talking about Jared Leto in Requiem for a Dream addicted . Finally, you must stab an adrenaline shot directly into your heart and press play on the video.

    Perfect understanding awaits…enjoy the trailer!!

  • 17 Minutes Of Battlefield 4 Shows Off The Pretty, But Not The Different

So EA had their big Battlefield 4 reveal last night showing 17 minutes of the game in an attempt to show how this game will be a new era for Battlefield. While the game is undeniably beautiful, the new era thing may be a bit much. After watching it, here is what I took away from the footage:

    1. The game might as well be called Military Again: Shoot Things.

    2. It is now a requirement that all modern military shooters must shoot down at least one helicopter every three missions.

    3. This does at least make me excited to see what other games that utilize the Frostbite 3 engine (next Mass Effect) will look like.

    4. Can we just go back to shooting Nazis….at least for a few years?

    5. The guy named Irish (?) looks like Booker T. I kept waiting for him to do a spinaroonie in the middle of a firefight.

  • New Watch Dogs Trailer Is Not So New, But Still Fun To Watch

A new trailer for Ubisoft’s [amazon_link id=”B00BGHUS58″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Watch Dogs[/amazon_link] has gone up today. Well I say new in a very loose way. It is the trailer we saw at the PS4 event back in February only it has been dubbed over with a woman giving narration about all of the illegal activities that protagonist Aiden Pearce partakes in including; hacking people’s bank accounts to get cash from an ATM and use the city’s security system to evade police.

Oh and he also beats the shit out of an abusive ex who tries to assault a woman. Good times.

    Watch Dogs releases this fall.

  • Square Announces “Weak Sales” Of Tomb Raider, Hitman, Does Not Know How To Handle Money.

Square Enix is the company that doesn’t realize they aren’t as big a player as they used to be. They basically owned the 90’s, but have been losing relevance and money for the last dozen years. So it kind of made me sick this morning when I read that they are complaining about weak sales for two huge games.

Tomb Raider is projected to sell 3.4 million copies and Hitman: Absolution is projected to hit 3.6 million by March 31st.

Here is my beef. What in the blue hell were Square’s projections of these games??? Hitman had a long break in between entries and I even wondered if people still cared enough to buy another game starring Agent 47. Well 3.6 million people did apparently. And Tomb Raider is the one that is truly getting under my skin. The game has “weak” sales with 3.4 million copies…..in 26 days!!! The game just released on March 5th and Square is bitching about over 3 million copies sold. 97% of games would kill for games like that with the 3% being disappointed consisting of Call of Duty, GTA and Halo.

This is one of the problems in today’s video game world. You can project a game to sell 6 million copies, but here is the thing publishers, and I will say it slow for you.

Not. Every. Game. Can. Be. Call. Of. Duty.

Maybe if you stopped wasting every red cent you had on useless ass Final Fantasy ports for every damn system and phone imaginable, you wouldn’t not have to up your projections so high for every other game to cover your inability to handle your own finances.

Even [amazon_link id=”B0076ZQSFI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Sleeping Dogs[/amazon_link], which I fully credit Square with saving from death, was considered a disappointment with 1.5 million copies sold. A new IP (even if it did start as a True Crime game) that has sold over a million copies used to be considered a success.

Now don’t get me wrong, I understand game development costs are also way higher than they used to be, but I can not accept that a game that has sold over 3 million copies in just 26 days is already considered a disappointment by Square’s standards. At this point the company should be kissing Crystal Dynamic’s ass.

Be sure and read our review for Sleeping Dogs and our dual review for Tomb Raider here and here.

  • Assassin’s Creed IV Makes Collector’s Editions Overly Difficult. New Gameplay Trailer Released.

    AC4BF_COLL_C_mockup_UK

This is going to be exhausting and some of you already know how exhausting I already consider Assassin’s Creed.

Not content with one special edition worldwide or anything like that, Ubisoft has announced five special collector’s editions. Three will be available overseas in the UK and Ireland so if you live there congrats!! Here in North America we will be getting the Black Chest Edition and is available exclusively on Ubisoft’s UPlay Network and features a diarama of Capt. Edward Kenway, steelbook case, soundtrack, new in-game content and much more as you can see above.

The second collector’s set available here is the Black Island Pack which comes with mostly in-game stuff like a new treasure hunting quest, new pistols and multiplayer items. Try and contain your excitement.

No pricing was given for the collector’s editions. Assassin’s Creed IV releases on October 29th.

Check out the new gameplay trailer below and before you get all goosebumpy and ready to pre-order, just remember how great the ads were for AC3. The new trailer does appear to try ans take the series in new directions, so let’s hope Ubisoft can deliver on the potential.

So remember earlier this month when we told you about the RetroN4, the console that would play NES, SNES, Genesis and Game Boy Advanced games? Well it seems that maker Hyperkin is going to toss any of those in the desert with all those lost Atari E.T. cartridges.

At the Midwest Gaming Classic show Hyperkin unveiled the RetroN5. It will play NES, SNES, Genesis, GBA and also Famicom games. SD card slot will be on the system for saves and it will come with an HDMI port and two Bluetooth controllers. Hyperkin hopes to releases the RetroN5 this summer for under 100 bucks.

At this rate you might as well wait until Christmas when they release the RetroN10 which will play NES, SNES, Master System, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Boy Advanced, Game Gear, Phillips CD-i, Jaguar and 3DO games.

At PAX East it was announced that XCOM: Enemy Unknown would be released for the Mac on April 25th, but an even bigger surprise was in store for fans of the strategy series. It will also be making its way onto the iPhone and iPad and that it will be the full version of the game not some watered down version.

“It is a straight port. We have not made any gameplay exceptions. You play the exact same game as on PC or consoles, it’s just now fully playable on an iPhone or an iPad”, says lead designer Jake Solomon.
