2K Sports have revealed the alternate cover for WWE 2K14 as decided by a contest the company held and the winner is everyone’s favorite “YES” man, Daniel Bryan. Mike Rodriguez of Corona, CA was chosen as the winner and to prove that the love for the bearded wonder is worldwide, Alexis Zankowitch of Martin-le-Vinoux, France was chosen as the alternate cover for the overseas regions also featuring Daniel Bryan.

WWE 2K14’s original cover features The Rock, but let’s face it, who is going to swap their covers right when they get home? (raises hand)

I am a little bummed that my entry of a Kronik cover went unnoticed.

  • 12 Minutes Of Dying Light Gameplay

WB Games and Techland have just unveiled the first gameplay for their first-person zombie game, Dying Light and it looks to be a mixture of Dead Island, Left 4 Dead and Mirror’s Edge. With me being a fan of Dead Island and a lover of Left 4 Dead and Mirror’s Edge this video hit all the right points.

We get a good first look at the changes that happen when the sun sets. The zombies become much more ferocious and agile from the looks of it and to help the player out you will have a special night vision that is kind of like what you have seen in the Arkham games and Tomb Raider. At the end of the video when you are racing towards the safe house all I could think of was the hours spent in Left 4 Dead and it made me want to get my hands on Dying Light even faster.

  • GTA Online Is Like A Beautiful Dream Laced With Violence

Rockstar has just released the first gameplay video for Grand Theft Auto Online and ambitious does not begin to describe what they are trying for with it. A fully realized Los Santos where you and 15 other players who wants to join in can waste hours upon hours doing an insane variety of things. Plan bank heists, car, jet ski and plane races, even day to day activities like golfing or tennis looks to be on the agenda.

Rockstar has developed GTA Online with growth in mind saying that the world will constantly be growing with new missions, a full stock market and extending into areas past Los Santos.

“In Grand Theft Auto Online, players have the freedom to explore alone or with friends, work cooperatively to complete missions, band together to participate in activities and ambient events, or compete in traditional game modes with the entire community, all with the personality and refined mechanics of Grand Theft Auto 5.

“Players can invest in their character through customizing their appearance, improving their stats, owning customized vehicles, purchasing personal property, and taking part in missions, jobs and activities to earn reputation and cash to open up new opportunities to rise through the criminal ranks. The world of Grand Theft Auto Online will constantly grow and change as new content is added, creating the first ever persistent and dynamic Grand Theft Auto game world.”

GTA Online feels like it a test market for a full fledged GTA MMO when you see how many different aspects Rockstar has working together. The developer could conceivably (and probably will) keep GTA Online a persistent running part of the GTA universe until GTA VI releases five or six years from now.

[amazon_link id=”B0050SXKU4″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Grand Theft Auto V[/amazon_link] releases on September 17th. GTA Online will be available to everyone who has a copy of the game on October 1st.

CD Projekt RED has announced that Tywin Lannister himself, Charles Dance, will be providing his voice in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Dance will portray Emperor Emhyr var Emreis, ruler of Niflgaard.

Also, if you need someone to abduct a Tibetan child with mystical powers, have a glass-eyed villain fight Schwarzenegger and a prison doctor to screw Sigourney Weaver, Dance is available.

  • Xbox One Will Launch In Less Territories This Fall

Microsoft has been on a tear lately scaling back the unpopular policies that have hampered the Xbox One since its announcement a few months ago. Now they are scaling something else back and it will not be as popular a decision. The corporation announced that they will only be launching in 13 territories worldwide instead of the originally planned 21.

The countries getting the boot to 2014 are: Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland. To try and make amends for the delay Microsoft will be adding a pack-in game with the system, so I hope all of you like Forza 5 because that will probably be it.

No reason was given for the delay in these countries, but I am going to say it is most likely due to trying to meet pre-order demands in the larger countries. Luckily, America still counts as a larger country even though our growing dependence on borrowed money from China would say otherwise.

  • SEC Tells EA They Just Aren’t That Into Them

EA may have thought they were past the drama for their yearly college football game, but not quite yet. The SEC has announced that they will join the NCAA and end their agreement with EA Sports to have their logos and their championship game represented in future titles in the EA series.

Schools within the SEC are free to work out their own deals with EA for the use of their names, logos, stadiums, etc. This will almost certainly make the development of the game a more expensive venture for EA since they now have to work out individual deals with all schools within the SEC. Could some schools ask for more (Alabama, LSU) than others? Could some schools overestimate their value (Missouri) and try to play hardball with EA and get left out of next year’s college football game? These are the days of our lives.

Will the SEC be the only conference to pull this move? This can not be seen as anything but a setback as EA tries to move forward with their new game. The SEC is the powerhouse of college football (Yes, that will change. Take it easy bleeding hearts.) and the loss of conference support will hurt EA. Not cripple it mind you, just hurt.

  • The Witcher 3 “Killing Monsters” Trailer Is Breathtaking

CD Projekt RED has released a new cinematic trailer for The Witcher 3 titled “Killing Monsters”.  In it, Geralt and a companion are meeting with a rather seedy group to collect a bounty and Geralt has to make a not so tough decision which, of course, leads to a quick snap of wondrous violence.

Check it out and let us know what you think it.

  • Batman: Arkham Origins Collectors’ Edition Announced

Now this is what I am talking about! WB Games has announced the collectors’ edition for Batman: Arkham Origins and it is a beauty. The set will run you $119.99 and come packed full of goodies. Here is the rundown:

-Nine inch statue of The Joker with full LED effects

    -80 page art book

-Two pieces of GCPD evidence in crime lab wrapping

    -Wanted poster for Batman

-Glow in the dark map of Gotham City

    -Wayne family photo

-Intel dossiers on all eight assassins

    -Batwing schematic

    -Anarchy logo stencil

-First appearance Batman skin from Detective Comics #27

    -Deathstroke Challenge Pack

    -Necessary Evil documentary

    -Knightfall DLC pack (PS3 only)

That is quite a haul for a collectors’ edition. Having purchased both previous sets for Arkham Asylum and Arkham City I can easily say this is the best of the three and that statue is worth the price of admission for me.

How about you? Is there enough here to warrant a $120 purchase?

  • New Assassin’s Creed IV Video Focuses On Stealth

Ubisoft has released a new video for Assassin’s Creed IV detailing the use of stealth in the various missions you will find across the game including the exploration of hidden caverns. You also see the virtual Havana they have created and how smooth the parkour gameplay looks when traversing from rooftop to rooftop. I pray that this is the first Assassin’s Creed that can fix the climbing controls because for a series that relies so heavily on it, it has always seemed too stiff.

    Assassin’s Creed 4 releases on October 29th.
