  • Gary Oldman In Talks For Star Wars: Episode VII

    ??????????????????????

File this under: Next time you give J.J. Abrams shit, remember he gets some stuff right.

There has been no confirmed casting for Star Wars: Episode VII as of yet but Gary Oldman has officially stated that he has been contacted about being in the next installment.

“They’ve called, yeah. I’m more cynical about it (casting) now, I believe it when I’m on the plane home. You know, the deal isn’t done (until then). But yeah, they’ve inquired.”

If they can get Oldman on board it has to be a huge win for Abrams and Co. for the next trilogy. Who would you like to see Oldman portray in Episode VII? A Jedi Knight? Sith Lord? Zorg? Let us know!

  • And The “Please God, Let It Be True” Rumor Of The Day Goes To: Pixar May Make A Star Wars Movie

    201 Disney Star Wars

Latino Review has come across some rumors (which is what they are good at) about the Star Wars universe extending into the offices of Pixar.

There are no firm details because this is pure rumor but the rationale makes complete sense with Disney owning both Star Wars and Pixar, so a combination is likely to happen sometime down the road. The thought of it does sound exciting.

To anyone that would downplay this as a bad idea, I don’t get it. The Star Wars property is not hallowed ground that can only be touched by certain people. Pixar have made some of the best movies over the past twenty years whether they are animated or not and I, for one, want to see what they can do in a galaxy far, far away.

Now if you will excuse me, I will go watch the first twenty minutes of Up and try to hold in the hurt.

  • Star Wars Episode VII Officially Set For December 18, 2015

    The_star_wars_logo3

Disney ended all speculation today by announcing that Star Wars Episode VII would release on December 18, 2015. It will be the first Star Wars movie to not open in the summer. Keeping with the times it will release in 3D (yay?) so expect a lot of lightsabers coming at the screen.

Recently J.J. Abrams asked Disney to delay the movie until 2016 but got a no from the Disney executives so this seems to be the closest thing Abrams would get. The director has teamed up with The Empire Strikes Back writer Lawrence Kasdan to take over the script from screenwriter Michael Arndt to get the project back on track. The new release date also makes sure that Disney’s eggs aren’t all in the same basket with The Avengers: Age of Ultron opening in May 2015. Now with Episode VII in December Disney should rule the year at the box office.

It doesn’t have to match the quality of the original films, just be better than the prequels. Please.

  • Star Wars Vibrators: These Are Not The Orgasms You Are Looking For

    stormtroopervibrator

If there is one thing that the internet has given us it is the ability to see the creativity that lurks on this big planet that might have gone unnoticed otherwise. Now where some would say that Star Wars Vibrators are not all that creative I say “What have you come up with lately?”.

Check out the other variations here by Balazs Sarmai that include a C3PO and R2D2 theme.

Am I the only one that thinks the Slave 1 is made to be a vibrator both in design and name? Not to mention how easy it would be to make something with an offshoot of Leia Organa’s name.

  • How Do You Make People Care About Thomas Kinkade? Just Add Star Wars

    ku-xlarge5

Remember Thomas Kinkade? The nicknamed “painter of light” that older people love paying way too much for his paintings and even more on gaudy ass gold light-up frames for said pieces? Well get ready to join their way of thinking.

Artist Jeff Bennett has taken Kinkade’s paintings of houses that look like a Middle-Earth Parade of Homes and added just a touch of the galaxy far, far away. I can not imagine what made him think of this but the brilliance can not be denied. Take a look at all the works below and begin to plan about where you want to put them in your homes. Your journey to becoming your parents is almost complete.

On a side note: for someone that painted such serene environments, Kinkade had a Poe worthy death. He literally drank himself to death on a bender with the well thought out concoction of liquor and Valium. Think that’s messed up? It gets better. He died on Good Friday. Remember that when you are at your parents or grandparents house next Easter staring at their painting on the wall.

  • So What If Darth Vader Sounded Like Young Anakin?

This is the question posed in this video which replaces Darth Vader’s iconic voice by James Earl Jones with Jake Lloyd’s shrill and brain numbing voice from Episode 1. The results are horrifying as expected yet will bring you some laughs.

I suggest you watch the entire video and witness how the final space battle has been made unforgettable.

  • Will Star Wars Episode VII Release Date Break From Tradition?

    Star-Wars

We all know that Disney has promised that Star Wars Episode VII is coming in 2015. They even said as much at their D23 conference. Everyone automatically assumed that the return of the legendary franchise would take place in May, which is its normal tentpole month.

    Maaaaybe not.

Badsass Digest is reporting from multiple sources that Disney may, in fact, release Episode VII in December of 2015, possibly in the middle of the month.

Merry Sithmas to us. ( I feel bad for that…I apologize)

The reasoning is sound for Disney to want to do this. With filming set to begin early next year, it only leaves J.J. Abrams and crew a little over a year for shooting and post work including special effects, etc. For a film the size of Star Wars that is not a very big window. So Disney is reportedly looking to push the date to December to afford Abrams more time to make the film right and not feel rushed.

This also would get it out of the huge sharknado that is the summer of 2015 which will see the release of Avengers 2, Batman/ Superman, Pirates of the Caribbean 5, Jurassic Park IV and more.

  • Belated Media Asks “What If Star Wars: Episode II Were Good?”

Belated Media is back with their follow-up to last year’s reworking of Star Wars: Episode I with What If Star Wars: Episode II Were Good? The new ideas, plot points and characters that they changed in the much, much better version of Episode I will carry over to this video which actually manages to take the mess in Episode II and bring cohesiveness to the story as well as bring back Darth Maul in a meaningful way and showcase the relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin.

Here is hoping we don’t have to wait a year before they can go back and finish their trilogy and fix Episode III (even though that is the one prequel movie I don’t have a lot of massive problems with).

Check out the video below and if you are not up to speed and want to watch the “what if?” on Episode I, keep scrolling.

If you have already seen Patton Oswalt’s amazing Star Wars filibuster from Parks & Recreation then you will surely be watching this again. If you have not then you are one lucky sumbitch for getting to watch it like this first. Nerdist put this video together for YouTube’s Geek Week and it is a great start to the festivities.

Needless to say that this should get Oswalt a guest star Emmy nomination and put him into the Lucas-Whedon wing of the Nerd Hall of Fame.

  • Star Wars: Battlefront To Release In 2015?

One of EA’s most anticipated games is easily Star Wars: Battlefront which is being taken over by Battlefield developers DICE. A teaser was shown at E3 and nerd joy was renewed knowing that we will one day again be able to kill as many Ewoks as we want in team-based combat.

During the EA annual stockholders meeting, CFO Blake Jorgensen gave a possible release window for the revival of the title. He said the title “most likely come out around the same time that the Star Wars movies start to come out, probably in the summer of ’15.”

I’ll leave this handy video here to remind everyone of how much time was lost by me and others to the Battlefront series.
