Prey 2 is the game that will not die and that makes me a happy person. The open world sci-fi game began development over three years ago and has hit its share of speed bumps including multiple delays and even rumors that Bethesda had killed the project all together.

Now comes word that Prey 2 has found new life again, this time at [amazon_link id=”B005C2D1YI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Dishonored[/amazon_link] developer Arkane Studios. We liked Dishonored and gave it an 8.0 review last year. I have been hoping Bethesda would not give up hope on Prey 2 and it looks like they are letting a now proven hitmaker take a stab at finishing it.

  • First Trailer For Thief Called ‘Out Of The Shadows’

I can already hear classic Thief fans as they watch this trailer with their cries of “suck it Assassin’s Creed”.

The minute long trailer features protagonist Garrett as he stalks his prey which happens to be a rather expensive looking necklace. I know Thief fans have been more than excited ever since this game was announced, especially with the classic Thief being known for not holding players hands and being a tried and true stealth game. For some reason when I see Garrett’s one green eye at the end of the preview I think there will be some kind of detective mode like in the Arkham games and I already don’t want to hear the bitching of fans when that happens. Just give me a fun game and I don’t care.

Thief releases in 2014 for next generation consoles.

When the original Prey was released on 360 in July of 2006, it was met with high praise for its graphical prowess, original story, unique gravity-bending gameplay sections, and its generally ability to horrify / terrify players. Shortly thereafter a sequel was said to be in development by a team at Human Head Games, and in 2011 it was officially announced by publisher Bethesda. Check out the trailer, courtesy of IGN’s YouTube: Prey 2 E3 2011 Trailer.

Looks pretty amazing, right? Unfortunately, that was the last information released concerning the title. Since then, it has been repeatedly reported as cancelled, and on August of last year it was officially pulled from the products page on Bethesda’s website. Most fans saw that as the final nail in Prey 2’s coffin.

Until today, when the web is buzzing about www.aliennoir.com, a “countdown site” in the style popularly used for movie and video game reveals. The countdown is obviously in a fictional language, but the internet quickly deciphered the cycle and came up with a date: March 1st, 2013. While we can’t say for certain until then, the symbols seemingly match those used by the aliens in the original Prey, and the four letters at the top appear to spell “PREY” when shifted slightly.
