  • Killzone: Mercenary Hates Male Genitalia

One of the reasons to love your Vita right now, besides the fact that Sony is giving you a long list of free or cheap games on PS Plus, is Killzone: Mercenary. The guys at Guerrilla are really trying to make sure that this is the best looking Vita game and that it will be the first quality shooter on the console.

This new developer video shows how the team is using the power of the handheld to bring a true console experience. The game looks decidedly Killzone which is to say dark and dystopian, but it also is stunning considering it is on a handheld.

    The reason for the title?

Watching the video you see how simple touch screen swipes will handle the melee kills in the game and one of these being you straight up stabbing guys….in the dick. Yeah, I may hate my enemy, but come on, do you really need to stab them in the dick?

    Oh, we do?

OK, well let’s get to some dick stabbing!

Guerrilla Games took their PS4 exclusive Killzone: Shadow Fall to The Jimmy Fallon Show and let the host and guest Anthony Anderson get a chance to play. This should put to rest any rumors saying that the demo on Wednesday night was not gameplay because when you see how badly Fallon and Anderson suck at this it is pretty evident that this sucker is real.

Fun fact: all the weight Anthony Anderson lost was used as Jaden Smith’s stunt double in The Karate Kid.

  • Here Are The PS4 Titles We Know Of So Far

We are only one day removed from Sony’s announcement of the Playstation 4 and still months away from E3 and already the console has a modest, but very good lineup of games. Ubisoft, Sucker Punch, Guerrilla and even Square showed their future titles and it was enough to get this gamer excited for this fall when the PS4 comes home. Here are the games we know of so far:

    Killzone: Shadow Fall (Guerrilla)

    Infamous: Second Son (Sucker Punch)

    Watch Dogs (Ubisoft)

    Knack (Studio Japan)

    Diablo 3 (Blizzard)

    Drive Club (Evolution)

    Final Fantasy (Square)

    Destiny (Bungie)

    The Witness (Thekla)

    Deep Down (Capcom)

The Witcher 3 (CD Projekt RED)

Sony also said that a plethora of studios are already pledging support for the PS4. Instead of listing them all check out a screenshot of last night’s event and see that every major player is going to be involved with developing for the next Playstation.

As with the PS3 announcement Guerrilla Games was there in full force with a new Killzone game, the difference being this time I think everyone believed that this footage was real in-game stuff. The look of the game started out much brighter than other Killzone’s and that was a great way to show off what the PS4 is capable of doing. You begin to wonder is a new console can still wow you considering how good games look and then you watch the demo shown last night and realize that they still can.

After a beautiful flyover of a much brighter scene than we are used to seeing in Killzone games, an explosion goes off and cloaked Helghast soldiers begin their attack. The gunplay run smooth like Killzone 2 and 3. The demo ends with our hero hopping a ride on a hanging rope from a dropship that shows off just what Sony’s behemoth can show off. I like it…..a lot. I want it….now.

    Check out the demo below.

  • Quick Predictions For Sony’s Playstation Event Tomorrow (UPDATED)

We are only mere hours away from Sony’s Playstation event which, most likely, will reveal the Playstation 4. So I figured we would play a little game of “take a stab at rumors and see if Sony can screw it up”. We will go through some quick points and check back after the event to see how close we were to being in Sony’s head.

Be sure and leave your guesses in the comments below. We want to hear just how in tune with Sony you are.

Alright it is time to check and see how my guesses panned out from last night’s event.

    1. Will be called the Playstation 4

    Yes. Good Start.

    2. Will only come in one version

No answer given. Closer to E3 maybe?

    3. 1TB hard drive (I am tempted to say 750GB)

No answer given. Guess I was too specific.

    4. Will retail for $399.99

    Again, no answer.

    5. Will still be able to use the PS Move (I don’t know why)

Yes. Media Molecule showed off a sculpting demo.

    6. Will stream games and may offer a game rental service.

Yes. Well Gaikai did say streaming games, but not definite on the rental. I’ll take it.

    7. At least two of these games will be shown and/or announced as launch titles: Killzone 4, Uncharted 4, Infamous and Planetside 2

Yes. Now we’re doing good. Killzone: Shadow Fall and Infamous: Second Son were shown.

    8. Will launch on October 25, 2013.

No answer. This will most likely be at E3.

Be sure and keep up with all the news here and on our Facebook and Twitter.

All in all I am calling this a win for the good guys. 4 out of 8 right and the four not right are pushes for a later date. Bingo!!

  • Killzone: Mercenary Trailer And Screenshots

    Killzone-3-wallpaper-1920x1080-b-618x347

It looks like it is finally time for the Vita to get the quality shooter it needs and deserves. One of the main selling points of Sony’s handheld, besides the power under the hood, was the whole new world that was opened by having two analog sticks. But the Resistance and Call of Duty franchises have fallen flat on their face in the past year and failed to deliver the FPS experience that the Vita is built for. Killzone: Mercenary is looking to change that. Developed by Guerrilla Cambridge to bring the Killzone experience to our sweaty little palms.

Killzone: Mercenary has you playing as…..wait for it….a mercenary in the midst of the Helghan/ISA war and will take place after the first Killzone. You can essentially play both sides since you will be taking jobs based on who pays you more. It appears the game will have a robust weapons list from which to spend said blood money.

The game simply looks amazing. When the Vita was launched, this was the type of game you knew the system was capable of, it was just a matter of time before someone figured out how to harness the real horsepower. Just watching the trailer you could almost be fooled into thinking you are watching a PS3 trailer.

Check out the video and screenshots below to see how great Killzone is looking so far.

Killzone: Mercenary releases on September 17th.

  • New Game Releases. October 23, 2012.

Yep, Another Military Shooter And Cabela’s Breaks With Tradition.

    [amazon_link id=”B0050SWZHS” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Medal Of Honor: Warfighter[/amazon_link] (360, PS3, PC) $59.99

So here is EA’s second part of their one-two punch to try (and fail) to take down Call of Duty. While Battlefield 3 got so much press last year it was almost hard to forget the game was coming out, Medal of Honor felt more like Sony was advertising for it. So nothing.

    [amazon_link id=”B0050SYDEQ” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Forza Horizon[/amazon_link] (360) $59.99

The franchise that puts out titles on a regular basis and is always better than Gran Turismo (without the 7-10 year waits between games) goes open world. Forza Horizon already had great racing DNA but add in producers that used to work at racing gods Codemasters and you have a beautiful racing sim that is garnering stellar reviews.

    The Unfinished Swan (PSN) $14.99

One of the most unique looking games to come along in a long time, The Unfinished Swan has a boy entering a painting left to him by his dead mother and comes into a white world that unveils its secrets as you throw balls of black paint. Hard to describe but gorgeous to look at.

    [amazon_link id=”B008PQU3E4″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Killzone Trilogy[/amazon_link] (PS3) $39.99

Sony continues to pump out the collections for their most famous franchises. Killzone 1 was a PS2 release and did not deliver on a lot of lofty promises but Killzone 2 more than made up for that with its stunning jump in graphics thanks to the Playstation 3 and great shooting mechanics. Killzone 3 was very good but didn’t feel as good story wise as 2. But still for $40 you are getting two good shooters and one very good one so not a bad deal.

    [amazon_link id=”B008HHTDP6″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2013[/amazon_link] (360, PS3, Wii) $39.99

Yeah so the only reason I am posting this is that Cabela’s has a unique tradition of releasing on the same date as Halo games which would seem like suicide and yet there continue to be Cabela’s games. But it seems that tradition is over. Here are the Mega64 guys with a little bit of the history.
