  • Is Adam Driver The Villain In Star Wars: Episode VII?

    2013-tiff-f-word-premiere

The man who would be Nightwing may be headed to space.

Adam Driver (Girls), who was rumored to be up for the role of Dick Grayson in Zack Snyder’s Batman vs. Superman, may have just landed a bigger role. Reports are that he close to a deal that will make him the main antagonist in Star Wars: Episode VII.

With the news on characters and plot being under strict lock and key, there can be only speculation as to who he will play. The easy money is on a Sith Lord with rumors saying the role will be in the vein of Darth Vader.

Let’s hope they don’t build him up as a big bad to have him cut in half in the first movie.

We should hear more definitive casting very soon. Episode VII is to begin filming in April.

  • Star Wars Episode VII Officially Set For December 18, 2015

    The_star_wars_logo3

Disney ended all speculation today by announcing that Star Wars Episode VII would release on December 18, 2015. It will be the first Star Wars movie to not open in the summer. Keeping with the times it will release in 3D (yay?) so expect a lot of lightsabers coming at the screen.

Recently J.J. Abrams asked Disney to delay the movie until 2016 but got a no from the Disney executives so this seems to be the closest thing Abrams would get. The director has teamed up with The Empire Strikes Back writer Lawrence Kasdan to take over the script from screenwriter Michael Arndt to get the project back on track. The new release date also makes sure that Disney’s eggs aren’t all in the same basket with The Avengers: Age of Ultron opening in May 2015. Now with Episode VII in December Disney should rule the year at the box office.

It doesn’t have to match the quality of the original films, just be better than the prequels. Please.

  • J.J. Abrams Apologizes For Overuse Of Lens Flare. Finally People Can Shut Up About It

Alright J.J. Abrams complainers, the director has seen the error of his ways. Your four year mission of pissing and moaning about lens flare may finally be over. Let’s forget that both Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness were wonderful movies that brought the crew of the Starship Enterprise back into mainstream pop culture after not mattering for almost a decade.

Abrams admitted he had a problem in an interview with Crave, even admitting that his wife was annoyed.

“I know I get a lot of grief for that. But I’ll tell you, there are times when I’m working on a shot, I think, ‘Oh this would be really cool… with a lens flare.’ But I know it’s too much, and I apologize. I’m so aware of it now. I was showing my wife an early cut of Star Trek Into Darkness and there was this one scene where she was literally like, ‘I just can’t see what’s going on. I don’t understand what that is.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I went too nuts on this.’”

“This is how stupid it was,” J.J. Abrams added. “I actually had to use ILM [Industrial Light & Magic] to remove lens flare in a couple of shots, which is, I know, moronic. But I think admitting you’re an addict is the first step towards recovery.”

You see! People can change! Now shut the f*** up.

  • Will Star Wars Episode VII Release Date Break From Tradition?

    Star-Wars

We all know that Disney has promised that Star Wars Episode VII is coming in 2015. They even said as much at their D23 conference. Everyone automatically assumed that the return of the legendary franchise would take place in May, which is its normal tentpole month.

    Maaaaybe not.

Badsass Digest is reporting from multiple sources that Disney may, in fact, release Episode VII in December of 2015, possibly in the middle of the month.

Merry Sithmas to us. ( I feel bad for that…I apologize)

The reasoning is sound for Disney to want to do this. With filming set to begin early next year, it only leaves J.J. Abrams and crew a little over a year for shooting and post work including special effects, etc. For a film the size of Star Wars that is not a very big window. So Disney is reportedly looking to push the date to December to afford Abrams more time to make the film right and not feel rushed.

This also would get it out of the huge sharknado that is the summer of 2015 which will see the release of Avengers 2, Batman/ Superman, Pirates of the Caribbean 5, Jurassic Park IV and more.

  • Rumor: Is J.J. Abrams Dropping Out Of Star Wars: Episode VII?

    Star-Wars

Right now this is the biggest of rumors (thus the name of the article), but there are rumblings that J.J. Abrams is considering dropping out of the next film in the Star Wars saga.

    The reason: his family.

Abrams has been very vocal about not wanting to shoot the film in England and be away from his family for so long, but Disney has put the kabosh on any argument and said that England is where it is happening. This has put Abrams in a bit of a bitter place and may have him thinking about leaving the project.

Like I said before, these are complete rumors. One would think Abrams would and should have known the commitment in taking on such a large movie.

  • Vague Casting Breakdown For Star Wars: Episode VII Leaks

    Star-Wars

J.J. Abrams has gone on record saying that the production of Star Wars: Episode VII would not be a super secret ordeal and this may be the beginning of the truth.

Bleeding Cool has uncovered what they are calling a 100% accurate casting call for the return to the galaxy far, far away. Take a quick look.

-Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit.

-Young twenty-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.

-A late twentysomething male, fit, handsome and confident.

-Seventy-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn’ t need to be particularly fit.

-A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.

-Forty something male, fit, military type.

-Thirtysomething male, intellectual. Apparently doesn’t need to be fit.

Now rumors have been heavy that the next film will focus on Han and Leia’s twins, Jacen and Jaina Solo. Does this casting call give you those impressions? Give us your best guesses as to who these possible people could end up being in the comments below!

  • Deleted Scene From Star Trek shows Benedict Cumberbatch in the Shower

Apparently in the light of recent nudity complaints about Star Trek: Into Darkness, J.J. Abrams decided to share one of the deleted scenes: a rather short shot of Benedict Cumberbatch in the shower (looking quite miserable, I might add).

Though after watching the following clip, I must admit that Conan’s version of the scene is much more amusing than Abrams’.

  • J.J. Abrams Had A Hand In Iron Man 3

In a recent interview with IGN, Robert Downey Jr. revealed that at one point in the production of Iron Man 3 they turned to Star Trek and Star Wars director J.J. Abrams for some advice on the film’s third act.

“There were a couple times in Iron Man 3 where our lifeline was we’d call Jon Favreau. ‘What do we do?’ He’d be like, ‘Stick with this. Stick with the love story,’ or whatever. Then he’d say, ‘Wait, didn’t we used to do this same thing with Shane?’ Because we reached out to Shane a bunch, particularly in the first Iron Man.

Then I think we reached out to J.J. Abrams at one point when we were really confused in Act III, and he helped us, too. It’s just interesting. Usually you think, in the legacy of filmmakers that come and go, there’s something so evocative about how strange it is that this particular strain of the Marvel universe was so successful, so what are the reasons for that and how do we keep that vital and just have fun?”

Seriously?! Is there nothing that Abrams has his hand in now?? First Star Trek, then Star Wars and now Marvel?

Well…now that I think about it there is no guarantee that Joss Whedon would return for The Avengers 3.

Smooth move J.J. You sir, are thinking ahead of the curve.
