  • Adam Sessler Joins Revision3

    Guess Who’s Back? Back Again.

Has it really only been seven months since Adam Sessler left G4? I guess when you get used to seeing someone so often time moves slower.

Fear not video game fans “The Sess” is back. It was announced today that the former G4/Tech TV editor-in-chief and host of X-Play will be making his return with Revision3. He will be the new editor-in-chief and executive producer of game content for the website.

Sessler left G4 back in April which now looks like a genius move with G4 now basically being a defunct network come January.

In a blog post this morning Sessler in part had this to say:

“While we may not know exactly what may come as of yet. I can assure you that it will be honest, it will continue my interest in raising the discourse of videogames beyond the false contests of reviews and the fetishization of minutiae, and it will involve you, the community, because you are playing the games along with us.”

Take a look at the first video Adam has posted today about his new position and be sure to go to Revision3.com/games to help support his new venture.

    Welcome back Adam.

  • G4 Cancels X-Play And Attack Of The Show

Shows Canned In Wake Of Networks Re-Branding.

Sad news today that G4 has cancelled both Attack of the Show and X-Play with the network changing brands next year from a tech channel to a more GQ-inspired men’s channel. Cause apparently men don’t play video games.

Both shows will have farewell runs with the final episodes airing in December with old hosts returning and best-of content being shown.

X-Play started in 2003 and has aired more than 1,300 episodes. Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb hosted the show for the majority of the time until Sessler left G4 earlier this year. Attack of the Show began in 2005 as a replacement for the show The Screen Savers. The show had its own share of hosts come and go with Kevin Pereira being the mainstay before he left to work in production earlier this year.

We here will miss both shows greatly as they were a big part of geek culture for almost a decade.

  • Get Ready To Say So Long To G4.

Looks like Adam Sessler and Kevin Pereira were the smart rats and jumped off a sinking ship early.

Rumors abound that G4, which has been on since 2002, will be “re-branded” early next year and morph into a GQ-style men’s channel and that may include a name change. This may come as a shock to some people but it really shouldn’t when you think about the channel only produced two real video game/tech based shows (Attack of the Show and X-Play). Now whether these show will survive the changeover is not clear. If one was to make it I would guess it would be Attack of the Show since it is more of a pop culture show than strictly video games like X-Play.

No word has been given on if the channel would still give special coverage to shows like E3, PAX or Comic Con.

But what about my need for Morgan Webb and Ninja Warrior?
