It seems that this slow moving Friday has now given me a reason as to why I got up this morning. The first screens for the (supposed) DLC Frar Cry 3: Blood Dragon have surfaced and I feel like this may be the culmination of everything that went right in the 80’s minus all the shitty things that happened in my childhood in the 80’s. I swear to God if there is a pair of sunglasses I have to put on to see what aliens look like, I may just lapse into what the medical community calls the “Piper/Plissken coma”.
If all of this Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon work is for an elaborate April Fool’s Day joke I may just go out in public and start throwing full cans of soda at people’s heads like the machines in Maximum Overdrive. Not only did we get a teaser trailer for the supposed DLC, but the official website was also launched today.
If there was any doubt about the 80’s insanity, the video and website put it to rest with the trailer having a old VHS look to it and the website….well it speaks for itself. It looks as though Far Cry asked John Carpenter of 30 years ago to create a futuristic tale that would make Snake Plissken proud.
Here is the official synopsis for the game from the website:
The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on.
Go and take a look at the website, but get your eyes ready for oncoming assault of awesomeness.
Have you spent too many hours than you can count exploring Rook Island in [amazon_link id=”B0050SXX88″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Far Cry 3[/amazon_link]? Have you already reset all the outposts and shot, stabbed and mauled your way through them again? Well the wait for more Far Cry 3 may not be too far off because the mysterious Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is on its way and I will readily admit that I do not know one dam thing about it. But do I really need to? It is more Far Cry 3. It could be a downloadable pack of Vaas giving his favorite campfire recipes and I would pay money for it.
The look of the logo is what is intriguing. It completely screams 80’s in every possible way. The electrified background, the font and hot pink coloring of the Blood Dragon logo, it all looks to be going for a retro feel like when you would pump quarter after quarter into Altered Beasts or Bad Dudes at the skating rink when you were seven because you were too fat for roller skates and you would rather play as a bad dude on top of a train punching thugs in the face. Thus the name…..Bad Dudes.
Sorry for losing track there.
Let’s take a look at the Xbox achievement list that has been released to see if we can take anything away from it.

Well first off, good job on the Die Hard and Evil Dead references. Finding VHS tapes further seems to give credence to the 80’s theme. So what the hell? Are we back on Rook Island in the 80’s going all Vice City on Far Cry 3? I love the mystery. Keep checking back and we will let you know as soon as we do.
Alright, today Gearbox released the first of the planned DLC for its giant prison gang rape scene on the Aliens franchise, [amazon_link id=”B005THAX6K” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Aliens: Colonial Marines[/amazon_link]. Just in case you missed our review, give it a peek.
The Bug Hunt DLC is a survival mode where you battle wave after wave of aliens and blah, blah, blah. It sounds like what you find in almost every other multiplayer section of a FPS.
So for the DLC, we will play a little game of numbers.
99.98% of people who have played this game were raped violently from behind by Gearbox.
0.02% is the one guy from EGM who gave this game a stellar 9.0 review for that once proud publication. When you read it, it hurts your soul because it smells of a bought review.
88.7% of players most likely have traded this game in already because of how much of a bastardization of a great film franchise it is.
30% of the remaining 11.3% will buy this DLC hoping, in a last ditch effort, it will make the game worth playing again.
98% of that 30% will realize that they have just wasted 15 more dollars on a horrible ass game.
The remaining 2% will like the DLC and may be mentally retarded.
When [amazon_link id=”B002I0H79C” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Gears of War 3[/amazon_link] launched it offered up a Season Pass for $29.99 that included four DLC packs that mixed single and multiplayer content. Now Gears of War: Judgment will be receiving a season pass of its own, but with no single player DLC.
The “VIP Season Pass’ will cost $19.99 and will give the buyer a 30% discount over buying the content separately. Here is what you will get when you purchase the Season Pass:
Fans of Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer are getting a nice, shiny new DLC pack to download today and the best part is that it is absolutely free.
Mass Effect 3: Reckoning will add new allies, weapons and equipment. Geth Juggernaut, Cabal Vanguard, Talon Mercenary along with others are now playable characters as well as seven new weapons and equipment like the Geth Scanner and Batarian Gauntlet.
Mass Effect 3: Reckoning is up on PSN and XBL. Take a look at the trailer below.
If you are looking for another MMO to jump into and mill around in then this may hit the spot. Steam has made Age of Conan: Unchained free to play for all PC Steam users.
You can also receive the DLC packs at a discount too if you want to take your adventures in Hyboria more in depth.
There should be a “by Crom” joke in here somewhere, but it escapes me.
Irrational Games has announced that Bioshock Infinite will be joining the the growing groups of games to offer a season pass for its DLC.
The pass will cost $19.99 and include three DLC packs. The cost of the packs separately are $30. The exact nature of the DLC is not know at this time, but if you do purchase the season pass you will receive the “Early Bird Special” that lets you unlock four new exclusives including: pistol damage upgrade, machine gun damage upgrade, gold skins for pistol and machine gun as well as five Infusion bottles.

It is a unique attempt by the series to show America’s greatest leader gone mad with power.
Episode One is titled The Tyranny and is available today, Episode Two (The Betrayal) will be out on March 19th and the final episode (The Redemption) will release on April 23rd.
While the release of new music games has pretty much been put six feet under Harmonix has been releasing weekly content to their ever expanding library. Now, it seems, that it can fight no more.
April 2nd will be the last week of content release for the Rock Band store bringing to an end an impressive five year run that saw the release of over 4,000 songs over 275 consecutive weeks. They are currently having a sale on over 1,100 songs at 50% off so people can keep filling out their Rock Band libraries.
The company released a small statement on the Rock Band forums:
“We hope that you’ll all agree that this has been a tremendous run, and you should know it’s a ride that we at Harmonix have been thrilled to be a part of. We’re going to continue to support the forums and RockBand.com and hope to still see you rocking out online, in photos of Rock Band parties shared on Twitter and Facebook, or here on the forums. Whether you waited in line for a midnight release of Rock Band over 5 years ago, or you just joined the party with Rock Band Blitz… whether you’ve downloaded every single song we’ve ever released, or you’ve just played on disc songs until your neighbors moved away… whether you’re a metal shredder, or a bubblegum pop singer… thank you for being a part of our band.”
