  • Robert Downey Jr. Has A ‘Surprise’ In New Call Of Duty Commercial.

Black Ops 2 Brings Iron Man In For New Ad.

You have to hand it to the folks at Activision. Call of Duty is the biggest game on the planet and doesn’t need big marketing but the company still makes some great commercials for it.

The new commercial titled ‘Surprise’ is standard Call of Duty fair much like past ads that featured Kobe Bryant, Jimmy Kimmel and Jonah Hill but they go even larger this year with the brilliant Robert Downey Jr. going bigger and better as he normally does.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 releases on November 13th.

  • G4 Cancels X-Play And Attack Of The Show

Shows Canned In Wake Of Networks Re-Branding.

Sad news today that G4 has cancelled both Attack of the Show and X-Play with the network changing brands next year from a tech channel to a more GQ-inspired men’s channel. Cause apparently men don’t play video games.

Both shows will have farewell runs with the final episodes airing in December with old hosts returning and best-of content being shown.

X-Play started in 2003 and has aired more than 1,300 episodes. Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb hosted the show for the majority of the time until Sessler left G4 earlier this year. Attack of the Show began in 2005 as a replacement for the show The Screen Savers. The show had its own share of hosts come and go with Kevin Pereira being the mainstay before he left to work in production earlier this year.

We here will miss both shows greatly as they were a big part of geek culture for almost a decade.

  • Greatest Thing Ever- 10/26/12

Tom Hanks Slam Poetry Says It All.

To help promote his new movie, Cloud Atlas , Tom Hanks went on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and did something that should live on forever.

The star performed a bit of slam poetry but that is not the weirdest part of this article. The fact that he focused on the sitcom Full House for his hilarious bit just goes to show why he is a national treasure.

Well this and that rocking ‘stache he is sporting.

  • By Crom! Schwarzenegger To Return As Conan

Movie To Focus On Conan’s Last Days.

Word has come down from on high (or Hollywood) that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be returning to one of the roles that made him the biggest star in the world during the 80’s.

Universal owns the right to the franchise and has writer and producer Chris Morgan crafting a story for the final tale of Conan the Barbarian. The movie would act as a true sequel to the first movie and not recognize its sequel Conan the Destroyer or 2011’s remake starring Jason Momoa.

Morgan has described this movie as Conan’s Unforgiven.

Producer Fredrik Malmberg had this to say concerning the reboot:

“The original ended with Arnold on the throne as a seasoned warrior, and this is the take of the film we will make. It’s that Nordic Viking mythic guy who has played the role of king, warrior, soldier and mercenary, and who has bedded more women than anyone, nearing the last cycle of his life. He knows he’ll be going to Valhalla, and wants to go out with a good battle.”

Universal wants the movie for a summer 2014 release.

  • The Elder Scrolls Online Website Officially Launches

Take An Extensive Look At Tamriel

Bethesda has launched the website for The Elder Scrolls Online today. You can learn about the back story of Tamriel, ask the developers questions and even take a look at a wealth of game concept art and videos. There are in-game shots as well as custom wallpapers to search through. It is an impressive start for a game that is still most likely a year away from launching.

Will you be paying a monthly charge for The Elder Scrolls Online or will Bethesda take the free-to-play approach that most MMO’s are swapping to? Only time will tell. Until then go and enjoy the large amount of Elder Scrolls goodness on the site.

  • New Trailer For A Good Day To Die Hard

John McClane Takes His “Talents” To Russia.

Die Hard is one of the greatest movies ever made. So now that you know that I am a man by that statement I will also say that I am a sucker for all of the sequels. They suck me in and there is no escape. Whether it is Renny Harlin’s over the top action or Bruce Willis walking around New York with a racial sandwich board I am there. I am even forgiving of the fourth entry and will say it was not a “bad” movie.

Now the fifth installment is on its way and a new trailer has just been released. A Good Day To Die Hard sees John McClane headed to Russia for another “fish out of water” story. It is kind of like the first movie where he is out of place coming from NY to LA, just on a much larger scale. It looks like it will be fun and let’s face it, that’s all we ask Die Hard to be.

A Good Day To Die Hard opens on February 14, 2013.

  • Mass Effect Movie Gets A New Screenwriter

Legendary Pictures Still Has Faith In Film Adaptation.

Legendary Pictures purchased the rights to a Mass Effect film way back in 2008 but like most video game to movie adaptations it has become stuck in the well known “development hell”. Things seemed to be heading in the right direction when screenwriter Mark Protosevich, who had written the story for Thor and the screenplay for I Am Legend, was brought in to write a script.  Now it appears that his draft of the script is being scrapped and a new screenwriter is being brought in.

Morgan Davis Foehl, who has worked as an assistant on Rescue Me and the Adam Sandler movie I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, has been brought on to start the script from scratch. Foehl is a big Mass Effect fan and the studio has liked some of his other action movie scripts which may have helped in him getting a high profile gig such as this.

This can not be an easy script to tackle considering how large the story for Mass Effect is and not knowing if the movie will be a hit enough to warrant sequels. Does Foehl concentrate on the first game, try and fit in the basics of the entire story in a single film or go in a completely different direction altogether?

Should Hollywood even try to attempt to make a movie based on Commander Shepard at all? Let us know what you think
