  • A Girl’s Perspective on Captain America (or maybe just Chris Evans)

So let me tell you something.  I had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, to go to the midnight premiere of Captain America.  I was not interested.  I was not amused.  And I was very tired.

But let me tell you something else.  I sat moping in the audience, sending the occasional glare to Trey, and waiting for the movie to start so that it could finally end.  But when that steam dissipated and Chris Evans stepped out of that crazy metal magical muscle maker, my opinion changed drastically.

In case you need a reminder…

    Yup.  I like this movie.

Mind you, I am not opposed to the rest of the film.  I found the story compelling and interesting (and I wanted to slap that bitch who kept eyeing up my man).  Keeping in mind that I never read the comics or knew the general concept, I was pleasantly surprised when he survived the crash, and I honestly look forward to next year’s sequel.

Speaking of which…I found out recently that they’ve started filming for The Winter Soldier, and I got excited.  I mean, the sooner they film, the sooner we watch, right?

Wrong.  Turns out they’re filming in Washington DC.  I live really damn close to DC.  I could be there in minutes (speed limits are just guidelines, right?).  Apparently I’ve been wasting my time working and studying for finals (who needs a degree anyways?) when I could be stalking watching Chris Evans.  The filming is going to continue for a few days, so I’ll have to resist that temptation.

But I truly am excited for the movie even though I wasn’t in DC yesterday watching him repeatedly get in and out of a car (which was apparently being driven by Scarlett Johansson for those of you who bat for the other team).  The Marvel franchise is only getting stronger, and the movies only seem to get better (there was an Iron Man 2?).

And yeah, I know that Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth are out there smiling and looking sexy…but my allegiance has yet to falter.

I mean…look at this guy! LOOK AT HIS BODY.

For the record, I promise not to have too many muscle-oriented posts.  I just couldn’t resist.

  • New Trailer For Riddick Looks To Recapture That Pitch Black Magic

    riddick06

2013 is turning out to be a weird year for me theatrically. As much crap as I give Vin Diesel I am more than ready for his two movies this year. Fast & Furious 6 will be out in a few weeks and this September sees the return of my favorite of his characters, Riddick.

Yes, I am an unapologetic Riddick lover. Deal with it.

The new trailer for Riddick really gives the movie a more Pitch Black feel than the slightly bloated The Chronicles of Riddick. There are three simple reasons why I will be seeing this beyond the gratuitous violence:

    1. Riddick

    2. Katee Sackhoff

    3. Batista (Dave Bautista to be proper)

    Riddick releases on September 6th.

  • New Man Of Steel TV Ad Brings Yet More Footage

Another Man of Steel commercial. Someone save me from myself because I have watched them all multiple times so this must be my self-induced punishment from all the commercial skipping with my DVR.

Man of Steel releases on June 14th.

  • New Man Of Steel Poster For Your Weekend Enjoyment

Warner has released a new poster for Man of Steel on their Twitter page. Right now they are just playing a cruel game with people like me who are literally counting down the days until this hits the big screen. Plus, with so many posters, it makes it doubly hard to figure out which ones I want to buy and frame. First world Superman problems.

Man of Steel releases on June 14th.

  • First Trailer For Gravity Will Take Your Breath Away

Director Alfonso Cuaron’s labor of love, Gravity, is set for an October release and the first trailer looks extraordinary. Sandra Bullock and George Clooney star as two astronauts who are left drifting in space, tethered together when their station is destroyed during a space walk. To me, this is the type of movie I go to the theater for to experience on the big screen and not wait for home release.

    Gravity releases on October 4th.

  • Trailer For The World’s End

It looks like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz made beautiful love and Dr. Watson came along for the ride. Anyone up for a double feature viewing soon? No weirdos.

The World’s End releases on August 23rd.

  • First Trailer For Ender’s Game

Ender’s Game is a big gamble for a movie. I consider it in the same category as Dune. It is a legendary sci-fi book that may be too much for the big screen. Now I am in no way saying that Orson Scott Card’s book is near as complicated or engrossing as Dune, but it is a seminal work of science fiction that I hope does not get screwed up by Hollywood (looking at you David Lynch).

If there is something to take away from this trailer it is that the movie should look very pretty and Asa Butterfield needs to hurry up and get nominated for an Academy Award. Seriously, the preview points out this fact with each star announcement.

    Ender’s Game releases November 1.

  • Star Trek Into Darkness Moves Up Release Date

Paramount has announced that the early showings of Star Trek Into Darkness in IMAX 3D set for May 15th at 8PM are selling out nationwide. Cities like New York, Seattle and San Diego are reportedly at capacity.

In response Paramount has moved up the release date of the sequel by a day to Thursday, May 16th. So if you already have tickets reserved through Fandango for Friday showings….I guess you’re f***ed. Actually I am pretty sure you can change your tickets, I just love messing with you.

Any way I can see Star Trek sooner is certainly fine by me.

  • Full Track From Hans Zimmer’s Man Of Steel Soundtrack For Your Ear Holes

Will anything be greater than John Williams’ Superman theme in terms of comic book movies? I will say no, but I’ll be damned if Hans Zimmer is not making a case for his theme from Man of Steel. Now you can go listen to a full track from Man of Steel. It is the music that was heard in the last trailer which begins with a piano solo and works its way up to a finish worthy of Superman.

You can listen to the track here

Man of Steel releases June 14th and the [amazon_link id=”B00C2U6G7C” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]soundtrack[/amazon_link] will be released on June 11th.
