Universal and Legendary Pictures have announced that their movie based on Blizzard’s Warcraft franchise will be released on December 15, 2013. The movie is being directed by Moon and Source Code director Duncan Jones. Casting has begun with rumors that Colin Farrell, Paula Patton and Anton Yelchin have been approached for lead roles with Anson Mount from Hell on Wheels up for a role as well.

Warcraft will certainly have a battle when it opens. Star Wars Episode VII is expected to release in December 2015 as well. As loved as Warcraft is, if the movies open close together, it may be a losing battle going against Star Wars.

A mystery trailer was shown at Hall H today at the San Diego Comic-Con which turned out to be the first teaser for the movie based on the World of Warcraft franchise simply entitled Warcraft. Descriptions were of a knight and an orc going to battle and the screen going black as the death blow comes revealing the movie’s logo.

Director Duncan Jones, who directed the wonderful Moon, came on stage and told everyone of his love of the franchise and announced that the movie would begin production in early 2014.

The Mass Effect Facebook page posted up a nice nice little surprise yesterday with this shot of the Mass Effect Risk game which will be coming this fall from USAopoly, the makers of many other themed versions of Risk including Metal Gear Solid, Halo, World of Warcraft and Starcraft.

No price was given for the set. Risk: Mass Effect will hit store shelves this fall and hopefully no one will complain about how their games end since it will be there own damn fault.

Yeah I am still on that Mass Effect 3 kick. The original ending was good. Shut the hell up.

  • Moon Director To Helm World Of Warcraft Movie

    World_of_Warcraft_Logo_by_wowgeeks

Duncan Jones, director of Moon, Source Code and sometimes son of David Bowie, has taken on the massive job of bringing World of Warcraft to the big screen. The script was originally written by Robert Robat, who penned Saving Private Ryan. Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond) has been brought on to rewrite the script.

Sam Raimi was supposed to direct the film, but had to drop out after multiple delays. Raimi moved on to direct Oz, The Great and Powerful with Oscar nominated stoner James Franco.

Warcraft fans should be happy with the news. Raimi is a great director but ever since Spider-Man 3….yeah. [amazon_link id=”B002T9H2ME” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Moon[/amazon_link] was one of my favorite sci-fi movies of the past ten years and Jones’ involvement in the project has piqued my interest.

  • New Game Releases. Week of September 23, 2012.

Warcraft Goes Panda, FIFA And Dead Or Alive Both Involve Bouncing Round Things.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria (PC) $39.99-Normal/ $79.99- Collector’s Edition

If you are still playing World of Warcraft after all these years I applaud you. That and weep for your bank account. But Blizzard knows how to keep the expansions coming and this week sees the release of Mists of Pandaria. Level up your character to 90 and play as a new class (Monk) as you uncover the mysteries of the land of Pandaria. And The Pandarans are neutral if memory serves me. So they are like Swiss pandas?

    Dead or Alive 5 (360, PS3) $59.99

Tecmo’s fighting series has been to the beach for volleyball and the wrestling ring and I guess now it’s time to get back to the fighting. Well, that and watching the jiggling boobs. Let’s face it, the DOA series is known more for their jiggle technology than their fighting engine but plenty of people keep buying it to keep the series going.

FIFA 13 (every system imaginable, maybe even the Virtual Boy) $29.99-$59.99

Like with NHL 13 you already know if you are buying this or not. You do not need convincing with all the new bells and whistles in this year’s game. Although let’s not forget that their is Kinect and Move support this year so you can give that a try before realizing how bad it probably is. If you curse at the game on 360 you might get carded by the ref? If every game did that I would get past the intros.

Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse (360, PS3, PC) $59.99

Take control of Stewie and Brian as you make your way back through multiple universes to stop Stewie’s evil brother Bertram. The Family Guy writers have had a hand in writing this but for me the Family Guy train passed five years ago and if I am going to play a video game based on a long running cartoon I will wait for South Park: The Stick of Truth.

Bad Piggies (iPhone, Android, Windows Phone)

Rovio is looking to keep their cash cow (or pig) rolling with the release of Bad Piggies. Where Angry Birds focused on destroying structures to get back at the pigs for kidnapping their eggs this game focuses on the pigs building things to help them get through the level. Seeing as Angry birds has been downloaded over 1 billion times I think it is pretty safe to say that Rovio’s pockets will be flush with cash for the forseeable future.

Next week brings back the evil Umbrella Corporation and hopefully a better game than Resident Evil 5.

    Happy gaming!!!
