  • Marvel And Sony Are Friends With Benefits. Spider-Man Coming To Marvel Movies.

    Spiderman_1

Marvel and Sony have made a deal to bring Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sony will still finance, produce and release the films with Marvel’s Kevin Feige producing. Spidey will first appear in a Marvel movie before getting a new film set for July 18, 2017.

This works out for both parties involved. Sony keeps Spider-Man and gets the push of having him be involved in the MCU that can shit gold. Marvel gets to use its most recognizable character in future Marvel movies, helping Disney further towards their plans of becoming a world-controlling shadow corporation.

My guess is that Spider-Man will appear in Captain America: Civil War because, read a comic. He will be (likely) recast so start your wagers now. If we do get a new Spidey, I do feel for Andrew Garfield who was a great Peter Parker, even though his second movie failed him. He is a lifelong fan and it showed.

To welcome the web-slinger back, Marvel has shifted dates to make room.

Thor: Ragnarok goes from July 28, 2017 to November 3, 2017.

Black Panther goes from November 3, 2017 to July 6, 2018.

Captain Marvel goes from July 6, 2018 to November 2, 2018.

Inhumans goes from November 2, 2018 to July 12, 2019.

On a side note: I would be perfectly fine having Alfred Molina return as Doctor Octopus.

    the-amazing-spiderman-2

Spider-Man, Spider-Man, yada yada yada. You know how it goes.

While Spidey did not beat Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s take last month, it brought in $92 million which is $30 million more than the reboot grossed in its opening weekend two years ago. Sony should feel confident about their future plans with Spider-Man and his expanded universe. In three weeks the film has grossed $369 million worldwide.

    1. The Amazing Spider-Man 2- $92.0 million/ $92.0 million

    2. The Other Woman- $14.2/ $47.3

    3. Heaven is for Real- $8.7/ $65.6

    4. Captain America: The Winter Soldier- $7.7/ $237.1

    5. Rio 2- $7.6/ $106.4

    7. Divergent $2.1/ $142.6

    10. God’s Not Dead- $1.7/ $55.5

  • Final Trailer For The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The final trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is here and it goes mighty big. There is a lot of new footage mixed with what we have seen over the past few trailers including longer looks at the three villains Electro, Green Goblin and Rhino.

I thought The Amazing Spider-Man did a good job of rebooting the series and is the second best Spidey film after Spider-Man 2. It still worries me having so many villains in a Spider-Man film (again). Here is hoping they can pull it off.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 releases on May 2nd.

    The Incredibles

Here are the quick hits from the world of movies, TV, games, blacksmithing, hummus, whatever catches our fancy.

    Movies

    Pixar

The Incredibles and Ratatouille will be converted to 3D for future re-release in theaters. Never cared for Ratatouille that much, but I will gladly pay handsomely to see Frozone in 3D.

    The Amazing Spider-Man

Marc Webb will not be returning to direct The Amazing Spider-Man 4 (yes, 4). Ease up there Sony, Spider-Man is not The Avengers. Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves.

    Wolverine

James Mangold will begin work on the follow-up to The Wolverine after X-Men: Apocalypse releases in 2016. With Hugh Jackman recently saying his tenure as the adamantium man is winding down, I can see this being his final hoorah as Wolvie.

    Maleficent

Here is a new banner for Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie. This time she has wings. She gained horns last poster. Slowly they are just revealing she is Satan incarnate before the movie opens.

    maleficent-banner-poster1

    TV

    American Horror Story

Writer Douglas Petrie has revealed that the fourth season of the horror anthology show will have a carnival theme in the 1950’s. As fu**ed up as AHS is, this is the perfect setting. Plus, I miss Carnivale and this will fill a need.

    The Walking Dead

Anyone get traumatized by last night’s episode “The Grove”? If you are a comic fan, you are used to this, I want to know the soccer mom reaction.

    Games

    Gauntlet

The classic dungeon-crawler is getting a reboot this summer by WB Games. Check out the trailer below and remember the times wasting too much money on the arcade machine in a Mexican restaurant. Maybe that is just me.

    Watch Dogs

Ubisoft is saying that it will take average players between 35-40 hours to complete the story with some free-roaming while completing the entire game could be around 100 hours. That is worth $60 if true.

    The_Amazing_Spider-Man_2_costume-eyes

Here are some quick hits in the world of movies, TV, games, Halloween costumes, French-Canadian affairs, whatever catches our fancy.

    Movies

    The Amazing Spider-Man 2

If you love Paul Giamatti, don’t expect too much of him in the next Spider-Man releasing next month. Director Marc Webb has said that Rhino will only appear in the sequel for four minutes. His character is in the planned third movie also so just watch Sideways a lot until it comes out in 2016.

    TV

    Cosmos

Want to see why we need more programs like Cosmos on the air? Take a look at this.

    Game of Thrones

Here is a new trailer for the new season of Game of Thrones which returns April 6th. Plan your parties accordingly.

    http://youtu.be/xIASaUUwklk

    Constantine

Will Constantine be a smoker on his new show? Writer and producer, David S. Goyer, gives an “answer”:

“That’s a tricky one on network TV. We’re negotiating right now. He will have his signature trench coat and skinny tie. I would say that the show clings more closely to the source material than the film did. Even though the film was interesting.”

Tricky my ass. That is one of the character’s main crutches. That would be like the CW pitching Arrow and saying he only shoots Nerf arrows at enemies because real ones hurt.

    The Talking Dead

CM Punk will be making his first public appearance since leaving WWE in January on this Sunday’s The Talking Dead. He was announced using his real name, Phil Brooks, on last night’s episode.

    Games

    Gone Home

The popular PC game will be making its way to consoles in 2014. This excites me almost as much as Titanfall tomorrow. That is saying something.

    bradpitt

    Titanfall

The game will run at 792p resolution when it launches tomorrow. If this concerns you, go crawl in a hole and stay there. Absolutely zero fucks should be given if the game is fun.

    Star-Wars-Episode-7-Millennium-Falcon

Our new feature will give you the quick hits from the world of the interwebs in movies, games, TV, ballroom dancing, lighting fixtures, whatever catches our eye.

    Movies

    Star Wars Episode VII

There are reports from multiple sites and sources that both Benedict Cumberbatch AND Gary Oldman are set for the next Star Wars directed by J.J. Abrams. If this is true, the force is strong with this movie. As long as the name Hayden Christensen is nowhere to be found.

    The Amazing Spider-Man 3

Marc Webb will come back to direct the third (sixth) Spider-Man movie. They will be wasting no time. It is planned for release on June 10, 2016.

    Dredd 2

While in Germany at a Star Trek convention, Karl Urban said that conversations had started with Lionsgate and writer Alex Garland about a follow-up to 2012’s amazing Dredd. The film bombed at the box office but since has picked up a lot of ground in DVD and Blu-Ray sales.

    yes-gif-10

    Indiana Jones

It looks like Harrison Ford is on his way to donning his whip and fedora two more times. The price for getting him back to do Star Wars may have been a commitment by Disney (who bought the rights to Indy as well) to make two more Dr. Jones tales. What will they do about Indy’s kid since Shia is not famous anymore (his words, not mine)?

    Console Wars

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are keeping busy with their work to bring Preacher to AMC and now they are wanting to make a film version of Blake Harris’ Console Wars which tells of Nintendo and Sega’s fight for supremacy in the 90’s.

    Independence Day 2

Will Smith has officially said no to the sequel because he is too busy riding the wave of money made by After Earth last year. He won’t be in the sequel to the one sci-fi movie people want to see him in but he will make garbage with Shyamalan?

    TV

    Heroes

Did you hear the big news? NBC is pulling a 24 and bringing back Heroes for a 13 episode mini-series in 2015. The run will feature all-new characters although they say that some people from the original run may return. They were doing so well until they said that.

    http://youtu.be/xXUjpHHfTLY

    Games

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

The next-gen version of the prequel to The Phantom Pain has been dropped in price by 25% to $29.99. Likewise, I am now 25% more likely to buy the game.

    Titanfall

The shooter will require up to 40GB of space on your Xbox One. Damn next-gen, you take up space.

    World of Warcraft

If you want more than one of your WOW characters to level up to 90 it is going to cost you. The new expansion, Warlords of Draenor, will allow you to level one character up to 90 but other characters will run you $60. For a game that has been taking $15 a month from around ten million people for a decade, that’s harsh.

  • Two New Posters For The Amazing Spider-Man 2

    the-amazing-spider-man-2-poster1

Two new international posters have just been released for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 featuring Andrew Garfield’s Spidey and Jamie Foxx’s Electro.

Remember when you would get two movie posters before a big summer release waaaay back when in the 90’s? The teaser poster six or seven months before release and a final one a couple of months later. It is pretty much Hollywood law to release at least 37 posters per movie over a two year stretch. Thanks Harry Potter.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 releases on May 2nd.

  • Sony Announces Venom And Sinister Six Films Are In The Works

    venom_wip_by_uncannyknack-d65t9rj

Sony is banking on Spider-Man being their Marvel meal ticket. They have announced a trio of huge facts for the Spidey movie future.

First is that writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Jeff Pinkner will be scripting The Amazing Spider-Man 3 with hopes director Marc Webb will return. It is set for release on June 10, 2016.

Second and bigger is that Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Ed Solomon are scripting a Venom movie with Kurtzman taking the director’s chair. This should make fans of the villain happy hoping it can erase the memory of Spider-Man 3.

Third and even bigger is that The Sinister Six are getting their own movie. The great thing about this is that Drew Goddard is writing the script and has the option to direct. He is the writer and show runner on the Daredevil series coming to Netflix and directed the wonderful Cabin in the Woods. He is also close to Joss Whedon so my thinking is that if Whedon is handling Marvel for Disney why not pick up one of his friends and cohorts to handle the Marvel side at Sony.

Big things are ahead for Spider-Man and his rogues gallery. Are you entertained?

  • First Trailer For The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Swings In

    spider-man

Here it is true believers. The first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 shows off the collection of villains that Peter Parker will be facing including Electro, Rhino and a Harry Osborn version of Green Goblin. I said the other day that I was worried about the film bringing on so many villains at once but the trailer has me excited to see what they can do with it especially if it leads to the Sinister Six later on.

Spidey has the second best rogues gallery besides Batman and a lot of them have not had film time. Looks like director Marc Webb is changing all of that. I also like that this Spider-Man is so close to the Ultimate version in style and villains.

Also, I think Dane DeHaan is going to knock it out of the park as Harry Osborn.

What do you think of the trailer? Is Spidey’s greatest challenge enticing you?

    The Amazing Spider-Man 2 releases on May 2, 2014.

  • Banner For The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Shows Electro, Rhino And…Green Goblin??

    1397232_551753948233853_2004541148_o

The talk of the Sinister Six being added to Spider-Man’s movie universe is becoming more than talk. The new hi-res banner from Sony shows the webhead facing off against Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Paul Giamatti’s Rhino as well as a familiar floating green villain.

This is the first official image of Green Goblin from the movie even though it was rumored he would be making an appearance sooner rather than later. I just hope the second movie isn’t trying to bite off more than it can chew. I am not saying it can not be done with so many villains but it is a tricky process that can go south quickly depending on how it is handled.

    The Amazing Spider-Man 2 releases on May 2, 2014.
