The [amazon_link id=”B00DE2W5XG” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Playstation 4[/amazon_link] is less than a month from launch and Sony is hanging its hat on Killzone: Shadow Fall to really show gamers what the new console is capable of. A new trailer has been released that shows the conflict taking place on Vekta as the remaining Helghast try to occupy the planet with the ISA. I think we all know it is downhill from there.
Killzone was Sony’s first try at a “Halo killer” and it did not come near that. Killzone 2 was the first game on PS3 that showed what the next-gen (at the time) was capable of and Killzone 3, while not as good as 2, brought an end to the conflict. Now with Killzone: Shadow Fall, we move forward 30 years for the next part of Vekta’s history.
[amazon_link id=”B00BGA9YZK” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Killzone: Shadow Fall[/amazon_link] releases on November 15th.
For those of you that like to download your games digitally to your console, the next generation will certainly see more of games like Killzone: Shadow Fall, but right now, this is a different thing. The upcoming shooter developed by Guerilla will be an almost 50GB install when the game releases alongside the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVQO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Playstation 4[/amazon_link] on November 15th.
I guess it is a good thing you can play as you download on the Playstation 4 because that might be quite a wait for 50 GB. Fergal Gara, from Sony UK, used this announcement to push Sony’s new download ability.
“The Play as you Download functionality, for example, means you don’t need the whole file before you go. This is a little bit counterbalanced by the fact the files themselves are getting bloody big. Killzone: Shadow Fall is an uber file – I think it’s cracking on for 50 GB. It looks it, too, when you see it.”
Call me old fashioned, but I am sticking with discs until someone tells me that I can not buy them anymore and have to use a digital service.
Sony is teaming up with Taco Bell to combine my want for a PS4 with my love for a Cheesy Gordita Crunch in some kind of unholy union that no fat nerd can resist.
From September 26th to November 10th when you purchase a $5 Buck Box you will receive a code to enter online to see if you have won a [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVQO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Playstation 4[/amazon_link]. Not only that, but you will be getting said PS4 three days before anyone else. While the rest of the world waits for November 15th, you will have your console powered up on November 12th with a copy of Knack and one year of Playstation Plus.
You had me at Taco Bell.
No, seriously. I eat Taco Bell for no reason at all. Hell, I have eaten it right after I have eaten lunch somewhere else just because it was offered to me. Now you wanna throw in a PS4?
Taking on Apple TV, Ouya and other Android based boxes at the same time is not an easy thing to do, but Sony is going for the win with the PS Vita TV. The small (6x10cm) box that will play PS Vita games, connect to the PS Network to play PSP and PS1 classics as well as connect to TV based services like Hulu and NicoNico Douga (in Japan). You can also use Sony’s great Twitter app.
The box has a slot for Vita games, memory cards, HDMI output, Ethernet ports and USB ports.
Not all Vita games will be available for play due to the various features the Vita utilizes like the touch screen, but over 100 Vita titles will be available.
The device can also be used to connect to the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVQO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Playstation 4[/amazon_link] for remote play when your console is not in the room with you. Am I the only one that thinks this is pure brilliance? If my PS4 is hooked up in my living room and I want to play it in my bedroom with my PS Vita TV in there I can just remote connect to the console? Nice.
PS Vita TV releases on November 14th in Japan for $100. A set that comes with a Dualshock 3 controller will cost $150. There is no worldwide release information.
Is your favorite color blue? If so, how about we be friends because that is my favorite color too.
Have you wanted a blue Playstation 3 for a long time? If so, we are two for two and think we should think about getting a place together.
Sony is releasing this Azurite Blue PS3 as a Gamestop exclusive. It will go on sale on October 8th. Pre-orders are being taken here. It will come with a 250GB hard drive and retail for $249.99.
Or you can buy the 12GB model for $199.99 which Sony calls a “better deal”.
Now that Sony has given us the official date of November 15th for the release of the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVQO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Playstation 4[/amazon_link], all we need now is to know just exactly what will be available on day one for you to slide into your sleek new machine.
Ask and ye shall receive (I am assuming someone asked).
If black is not your style then Sony is giving you two other options for your Playstation 4 controller. The “Magma Red” and “Wave Blue” controllers will be available in Europe on the Playstation 4’s launch day of November 29th and in North America later this year (i.e. before Christmas). They will cost $60 each.
What do you think of the new colors? To me they make the sleek controller look a little…third party. That is my nice way of saying cheap.
The Playstation Vita will finally be getting a price drop to $199 as of……now. Also the price of the memory cards will see a sizable reduction. For people that have been considering buying a Vita, that is what we call a win/win. For those of us with [amazon_link id=”B003O6EATE” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Vita’s[/amazon_link]…just a win, but a good one.
Sony just finished up their Gamescom conference and it was another strong showing anchored by a very strong indie lineup and titles like Killzone: Shadow Fall, Watch Dogs and more. They also showed off the Vita’s ability to remote play games with a live demo of Assassin’s Creed IV being played on the handheld.
The big news everyone was waiting on was saved for the end when it was announced that the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVQO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Playstation 4[/amazon_link] would release on November 15th in North America and November 29th in Europe.
Now we just wait to see what will be the release of the Xbox One in response to Sony’s announcement today.
Many were excited when it was announced that the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVMI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link] would have an expanded friends list going from 100 to 1,000. Now in another bout of “anything you can do, I can do better”, Sony has announced that the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVQO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]PS4[/amazon_link] will have a cap of 2,000 friends.
I am sure for famous people that have people clamoring to be on their friends list this is a great move. If you are just a random gamer and have the need for a 2,000 friend limit then I congratulate you on having a sparkling, magnetic personality and I would enjoy hanging out with you one day.
It was also announced that while you will need to be a PS Plus member to play games online you will not need the service to run Netflix, party chat or play free-to-play games.
