  • Sony Announces Playstation Now Streaming Service. This Is A Big Deal

    ps-now-black-554x341_28313_nphd

Sony spent $380 million dollars in 2012 to buy streaming service Gaikai which we all knew would become a way to stream Playstation games onto your PS4 and Vita but Sony has taken things a step farther.

The service is called Playstation Now and will be able to stream Playstation games (PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP) to you PS4, PS Vita as well as your television, smartphone and tablet. Playing The Last of Us on your Kindle is almost a reality. In fact, they had the Naughty Dog game running on a PS Vita using Playstation Now at CES. Sony also said that their 2014 line of Bravia televisions will support Playstation Now.

Talk about backwards compatibility. Being able to draw from the entire well of Playstation offerings over the past 19 years on a host of devices is indeed the definition of that.

Playstation Now will launch this summer with a limited amount of games including The Last of Us, God of War: Ascension, Beyond: Two Souls and Puppeteer. The library will no doubt grow from there. The service will be subscription-based or you can rent games one at a time. If they decide to bundle this with a PS Plus subscription I will be all over this. I would not mind paying $100 a year for PS Plus and the ability to stream games from PS Now. That is an easy sell.

Another week, another sale on the Playstation Network. This week Ubisoft is offering over 30 games, each discounted up to 50% for PS Plus users. Regular member will get a 30% discount. There are some pretty good games on this list as well as some dogs so I will leave it up to your discerning eye to pick out which is which.

Hint: Michael Jackson: The Experience is not among the good.

  • Killzone: Mercenary Hates Male Genitalia

One of the reasons to love your Vita right now, besides the fact that Sony is giving you a long list of free or cheap games on PS Plus, is Killzone: Mercenary. The guys at Guerrilla are really trying to make sure that this is the best looking Vita game and that it will be the first quality shooter on the console.

This new developer video shows how the team is using the power of the handheld to bring a true console experience. The game looks decidedly Killzone which is to say dark and dystopian, but it also is stunning considering it is on a handheld.

    The reason for the title?

Watching the video you see how simple touch screen swipes will handle the melee kills in the game and one of these being you straight up stabbing guys….in the dick. Yeah, I may hate my enemy, but come on, do you really need to stab them in the dick?

    Oh, we do?

OK, well let’s get to some dick stabbing!

  • Playstation Network Offers Another Deal

    psdeal

Sony continues to pour on the deals when it comes to the Playstation Network. Until April 1st for every $50 you spend online in the Playstation Store you will get $10 back in your PSN wallet. You can use the reserve of digital download games to make up the money if you wish or buy new backgrounds, movies, etc. Any way to spend $50 will get you a free $10.

For those super deal seekers you can double up on deals. Sony has another deal until March 4th that will get you a free three months of Playstation Plus when you purchase a full year. So conceivably you can buy a year of PS Plus for $49.99 and reserve a game or buy a cheap avatar and get fifteen months of PS Plus and ten bucks back in your PSN wallet.

And if you got a free $10 bucks last week from Sony in your account (raises hand) the deal turns out even better.

  • Sony Gives You Another Reason To Buy PS Plus

    psplus

As if you actually needed another reason that is. Sony gives you so much free stuff for your 50 bucks a year it is almost ridiculous so what do they do? Give you more!!

Until March 4th, whenever you purchase a year of Playstation Plus you will automatically get an extra three months for free. This even includes the Playstation 3 “Instant Game Collection” bundles that have been released. So not only will you get early access to betas and demos and an ever expanding list of free (FREE) games for your Playstation 3 and Vita but now you get 15 months for only $50.

What more does Sony have to do to get you to try this?!
