  • New Empire Covers Feature Superman And General Zod

You gotta hand it to Empire Magazine, one of the reasons they get me to spend $10 on a magazine are the wonderful covers they have. Their June issue is no different with a Man of Steel 2-cover set. The first features Henry Cavill in a full shot in Supes attire and the second is Michael Shannon looking menacing and metallic as General Zod. The issue should be on newsstands this Thursday.

  • Zod Issues His First Statement To Earth In Man Of Steel Viral Video

    ewsupermanmanofsteel4

So I made a joke last week about Michael Shannon looking awesome as Zod when this first photo was released, yet I did not think that he could match up to Terence Stamp’s iconic voice.

    Yeah, so I was wrong.

This viral video was released last night featuring Shannon’s Zod telling Superman to hand himself over or Earth will face the consequences. It reminds me of the first viral marketing for The Dark Knight in 2007 when people got their first listen to Heath Ledger’s Joker.

Rumors abound that we will get a new trailer for Man of Steel this week.

Man of Steel releases on June 14th.

  • Wait…More Man Of Steel? Ummm Yeah?

I know we are still two months away from the release of Man of Steel, but we just need to accept that these articles are going to keep happening. If you are not a Superman fan I am sure we have plenty of other great articles on here for you such as:

New developer diary from The Last of Us
Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire Retro Achievement List
Win a Bioshock Infinite strategy guide

    Still here?

    Good.

Now that we have determined you are a Superman fan (or at least a fan of large men in spandex) here are the photos from the Entertainment Weekly summer movie issue which Supes is the cover boy. We get what is probably the best (and most sinister) look at Michael Shannon’s Zod as well as looks at Jor-El, Lois Lane and Perry White, who, ironically, is African-American in this movie, so if you have a problem with that we can’t be friends anymore.

Man of Steel releases on June 14th.

  • Man Of Steel Takes Center Stage On EW’s Summer Movie Issue

This isn’t really a big piece of news, but let’s face it, it’s Superman. Henry Cavill is this year’s cover boy for Entertainment Weekly’s summer movie issue and director Zack Snyder reveals that Kryptonite will not be in this summer’s Superman adventure. He says that it has been used so often as Superman’s weakness that they wanted to take a different approach this time.

Zod beating the shit out of him is a good start.

Man of Steel releases on June 14th.

  • New Poster For The Wolverine

With Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel being at the forefront of the superhero movie scene this summer, The Wolverine is getting a bit lost. Now I can understand how excitement can be tempered considering how X-Men Origins: Wolverine was a massive dump on the chest of fans, but at least the source material for this followup is some of the best work in the character’s history using Chris Claremont’s 1982 limited series as its base.

The Wolverine releases on July 26th.

  • New Man Of Steel Statues Coming This Spring

DC Collectibles is ready and set to unleash a full line of 1:6 scale statues for Zack Snyder’s huge Superman revival, Man of Steel. Below you can see a very good look at Michael Shannon as Zod. He is looking very non-Terrence Stamp and all badass. Other statues which you can see are Superman himself played by Henry Cavill, the mysterious Faora played by Antje Traue and Jor-El who is obviously played by Russell Crowe who comes with a Kryptonian gun and not a phone to assault people.

Prices have not been revealed for the statues and will be released this spring.

  • Empire Magazine Shows Off New Man Of Steel Pictures

Empire Magazine’s newest issue has a few shots from the new Man of Steel movie including the impressive cover you see above of Henry Cavill fully suited as Superman. Also shown are shots of Russell Crowe as Jor-El and Michael Shannon as Zod.

Empire is a great read but I normally don’t want to pay 10 bucks for a magazine. That may change with this issue.

Man of Steel releases June 14th.

  • Man Of Steel Statue Shows Off Superman’s New Duds

    mos-superman-statue-img

DC unveiled a new Man of Steel statue that is being sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios and it gives us the first up close look of Superman’s new costume from head to toe. We all know by now that the red underoos have gone bye bye and this new costume is very much akin to the New 52 Superman outfit. It is a 1:6 scale and is 13.25″ tall.

What do you think of the full look of the new costume and the statue also?

The statue will retail for $130 and go on sale this May.

  • Zack Snyder Is Developing A New Star Wars Movie (UPDATED: Maybe Not)

    NE3Nz7348GEM65_1_1

So I will just let that title soak in for a second……………………………………………….

Yes, you read that correct. Vulture is reporting that the director of 300, Watchmen and this summer’s Superman reboot, Man of Steel, is indeed hard at work developing a Star Wars movie that will not be a part of the planned trilogy from Disney. The report claims that it will be a stand alone film and may run parallel to the new trilogy. The report goes on to describe the movie:

It will be an as-yet-untitled Jedi epic loosely based on Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic Seven Samurai, with the ronin and katana being replaced by the Force-wielding knights and their iconic lightsabers.”

Disney has already stated that there would be more Star Wars films past the new trilogy, but it is a little weird that we seem to know a bit more about this stand alone Star Wars movie than the new trilogy which is set for release in the summer of 2015.

Many fans may gripe at this with their deep hatred of Zack Snyder, but I will remain optimistic in this early going. It is more Star Wars so that’s a good thing and nothing could possibly be worse than Episode 1…..right? And at least it will look pretty.

    UPDATE:

Zack Snyder’s spokesman has gone on record saying that the director is not involved with any Star Wars film.

“While he is super flattered because he is a huge fan, Zack is not involved in any way with the new Star Wars. He is currently in post on his two films, Man of Steel and 300: Battle of Artemisia.”

Of course, denials in Hollywood are nothing new so take this statement with a grain of salt. If Disney has locked up Snyder for a stand-alone Star Wars film and Man of Steel hits it big this summer that will leave Warner Bros. in a bit of a bind if they wanted Snyder to return foe a sequel.
