So far, so good for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah. The biblical (but not biblical) epic took in $44 million to finish first. I am sure the audience was divided between Christians who didn’t know what they were getting into and Aronofsky fans that wanted to see how he could top Jared Leto shooting heroin into a gaping hole in his arm.

With Captain America opening next week, we will see if Noah can stay afloat. Sorry, I had a one pun limit for this article.

Frozen had a big weekend. It became the highest grossing animated film of all time passing Toy Story 3. Maybe now people can finally let it go.

    Damn, two puns.

    1. Noah- $44 million/ $44 million

  • Is The Honest Trailer For Frozen Better Than The Movie?

Full disclosure: I have not seen Frozen yet. Now don’t go getting your iced over panties in a bunch, I fully intend to, but I think watching the Honest Trailer before the movie was a mistake.

    A wonderful mistake.

It will definitely affect the way I watch the movie now. Though, with someone as jaded as me, this is probably a good thing.

    The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Seems Scarlett Johansson went and got herself knocked up. She is due this summer and a growing belly does not exactly work with her costume in the Avengers sequel. To make sure they get her scenes in, she will begin filming her parts April 5th and finish as quick as possible so it will not affect the rest of the movie and Ryan Reynolds can cry himself to sleep knowing he is not the father.

    Frozen

As popular as the song “Let It Go” is from Frozen, there are some times you just don’t sing the Oscar-winning tune. Here are some examples. Be prepared to laugh (or cry).

    TV

    Gotham

The series has cast its young Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. David Mazouz will play Bruce and Camren Bicondova is Selina.

    Fargo

Here is a new trailer for the FX show based on the Coen Bros. movie. It is pretty much a normal shopping day in Alabama.

South Park: The Stick of Truth

Today, finally, see the release of Obsidian’s South Park: The Stick of Truth. We will have our review up as soon as we make our way through the demented adventure.

    HBO Go

HBO Go launches today on the PS3 at long last. Now you can watch all the True Detective and Game of Thrones you want on your Playstation. Murder and incest for everyone!

    Playstation 4

Sony has announced that the PS4 has sold over 6 million consoles since its launch last November. With sales continuing to be strong, could Sony get to 20 million by year’s end?

  • Frozen’s “Let It Go” Becomes Much More In Star Trek’s “Make It So”

The “in” thing recently is making all types of different versions of “Let It Go” from Disney’s Frozen. Some are good, some are shit.

Then there are very few that are as good as taking footage from Star Trek: First Contact and writing and entirely new song called “Make It So”.

Geek band Debs & Errol gain extra pips on their collar for this effort.

Super Bowl weekend is routinely a bad weekend at the box office. Of course, if people knew what kind of boring game they were in store for last night they might have went to see a movie instead of buying lots of food and sitting through four hours of a bird raping a horse.

Ride Along won the top spot for the third week in a row with only $12.2 million. The rest of the top ten shook out like previous weeks with Forzen, The Nut Job and Lone Survivor trailing. That Awkward Moment finished in third with $9 million. Still, if you are Zac Efron you have to feel good about yourself that there are $9 million worth of people that want to see your naked ass.

    1. Ride Along- $12.2 million/ $92.9 million

    2. Frozen- $9.3/ $360.0

    3. That Awkward Moment- $9.0/ $9.0

    4. The Nut Job- $7.6/ $50.2

    5. Lone Survivor- $7.1/ $104.8

    6. Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit- $5.4/ $38.9

    7. Labor Day- $5.3/ $5.3

    8. American Hustle- $4.3/ $132.1

    9. The Wolf of Wall Street- $3.5/ $104.0

    10. I, Frankenstein- $3.5/ $14.4

  • Do You Wanna F*** A Snowman? This Hilarious Censored Frozen Video Does

Frozen has become one of Disney’s biggest hits ever but how would things be if they were a bit more…not Disney?

Check out this video of some scenes from the movie that have some very well placed bleeps for a whole new Frozen experience. I would pay money to have a version of the entire movie like this.

Christmas time is family time as well as movie time. There were almost too many things to choose from with hobbits, ronin, princesses, aging boxers and Amy Adams making out with Jennifer Lawrence.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug barely beat Frozen to be number one for the third week in a row. The second film in the trilogy has passed $500 million worldwide. Frozen continues to defy the odds and rake in cash taking in $28.8 million in its sixth week of release and is about to cross $250 million domestically.

Among the new releases The Wolf of Wall Street took in $18.5 million and $34.3 million since Christmas Day. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and 47 Ronin disappointed. Combined the two movies made $48 million since Christmas with both having a combined budget of $290 million.

    1. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug- $29.8 million/ $190.3 million

    2. Frozen- $28.8/ $248.3

    3. Anchorman- $20.1/ $83.6

    4. American Hustle- $19.5/ $60.0

    5. The Wolf of Wall Street- $18.5/ $34.3

    6. Saving Mr. Banks- $14.0/ $37.8

    7. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty- $13.0/ $25.5

    8. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire- $10.2/ $391.1

    10. A Madea Christmas- $7.4/ $43.7

    OUT OF THE FURNACE

Frozen took over the top spot from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in its second week. The Disney movie has received great reviews and brought in $31.6 million. Catching Fire should have no problem reaching $400 million domestically as the first movie did. It has grossed $337 million in its first three weeks.

Out of the Furnace failed to heat up (I know, I know) bringing in only $5.3 million. With the holidays approaching I am thinking not many were looking to bring in holiday cheer with an unflinchingly violent tale of family strife.

    1. Frozen- $31.6 million/ $134.2 million

    2. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire- $27.0/ $336.6

    3. Out of the Furnace- $5.3/ $5.3

    4. Thor: The Dark World- $4.7/ $193.6

    5. Delivery Man – $3.7/ $24.8

    6. Homefront- $3.3/ $15.2

    7. The Book Thief- $2.7/ $12.0

    8. The Best Man Holiday- $2.6/ $67.2

    9. Philomena- $2.2/ $8.2

    10. Dallas Buyers Club- $1.4/ $12.4

It looks like droves of people headed to the theater over the holiday. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Frozen teamed up to make it the biggest Thanksgiving weekend ever with Catching Fire adding another $110 million over the five day period. Disney’s Frozen opened way bigger than it was expected to with $93 million in five days.

On the opposite end of new releases was the Jason Statham/James Franco thriller Homefront which couldn’t break $10 million for the holiday. Jason Statham has become the Tyler Perry of action movies. You are going to get two a year and they are always the same.

    1. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire- $74.5 million/ $296.5 million

    2. Frozen- $66.7/ $93.0

    3. Thor: The Dark World- $11.1/ $186.7

    4. The Best Man Holiday- $8.4/ $63.4

    5. Homefront- $6.9/ $9.7

    6. Delivery Man- $6.9/ $19.4

    7. The Book Thief- $4.8/ $7.8

    8. Black Nativity- $3.8/ $5.0

    9. Philomena- $3.7/ $4.7

    10. Last Vegas- $2.7/ $33.1
