  • First Look At Dwayne Johnson As Hercules

    dwayne-johnson-hercules-fast-furious-7

We have seen plenty of teaser images from Dwayne Johnson on his Twitter from the filming of next summer’s Hercules: The Thracian Wars but now he has tweeted the first image of him in all his bearded glory. And as proof that he is the busiest actor going he tweeted the first image of Hobbes on the set of Fast & Furious 7.

Seriously. I don’t know what your image of Hercules is in your head. It may be the Disney version or Kevin Sorbo or some imaginary version you have always thought of but it looks like Johnson’s Hercules will take all of their heads off and sh** down their necks.

Hercules: The Thracian Wars releases on July 25, 2014.

It seems that even downplaying M. Night Shyamalan’s part in After Earth had no effect on its box office. It bombed anyway. The father/son combo sci-fi piece starring Will and Jaden Smith could only manage a third place finish behind last week’s champ Fast & Furious 6 and the magicians of Now You See Me. After Earth’s weekend total is the worst opening for a Will Smith summer movie in twenty years.

    1. Fast & Furious- $34.5 million/ $170.3 million

    2. Now You See Me- $28.0/ $28.0

    3. After Earth- $27.0/ $27.0

    4. Star Trek Into Darkness- $16.4/ $181.1

    5. Epic- $16.4/ $65.1

    6. The Hangover Part III- $15.9/ $88.0

    7. Iron Man 3- $8.0/ $384.7

    8. The Great Gatsby- $6.2/ $128.2

    9. Yei Jawaani Hei Deewani- $1.6/ $1.6

    10. Mud- $1.2/ $16.8

It was the heavyweight battle of Fast & Furious 6 vs. The Hangover Part III and it wasn’t even a contest. Diesel, Walker and The Rock KO’ed The Wolfpack with ease in the biggest Memorial Day ever at the box office.

I seriously feel conflicted. I did not care about the first four movies in the “Fast” franchise. I have seen them and just let them blow by me without an ounce of caring.

    What happened??

They had to go and make Fast Five an Ocean’s 11 heist flick with extra balls and action, add in The Rock and I had to realize that I, in fact, liked the damn movie. Now here we are two years later and I am ready for Fast & Furious 6 more than I really should be. I apologize for nothing.

I am still confused as to why after Fast Five they did not name this Furious Six. It just works!

One of the biggest summer movies has been curiously absent from all the poster and trailer hooplah and that is The Hangover Part III. We have seen trailers for Iron Man, Fast & Furious 6 and Man of Steel, but not so much as a peep from the third film involving The Wolfpack.

    Until today.

Warner Bros. has released the first poster which shows Zack Galifianakis as Alan and Ken Jeongs as Mr. Chow in a tense stare down with a burning Las Vegas in the background.

I like this. It is playing up the big summer movie spectacle of explosions and flying debris with odd lighting that is the staple of action movies today. Hopefully the third time will be the charm. While I laughed at the second movie, a second watching proved just how much of a retread of the first flick it was.

The Hangover Part III opens on Memorial Day where it will take on The Rock and Vin Diesel in Fast & Furious 6.

How odd is it to realize that the Fast series is about the have its sixth movie release? Paul Walker should definitely be thankful because I am pretty sure it has paid his mortgage for the past ten years. While I was never a huge fan of the first four in the series, the fifth (Fast Five) was undeniably fun to me because it got away from the street racing scene (which I officially give zero cares about) and turned it into a Oceans 11 heist movie on steroids.

Now the gang is all back together again in the new trailer for Fast & Furious 6 which sees them offered full pardons for their help in catching a new big bad played by Luke Wilson and assisted by Michelle Rodriguez who has died in more movies and shows than I care to count.

Fast & Furious 6 releases on May 24th.
