Universal and Legendary Pictures have announced that their movie based on Blizzard’s Warcraft franchise will be released on December 15, 2013. The movie is being directed by Moon and Source Code director Duncan Jones. Casting has begun with rumors that Colin Farrell, Paula Patton and Anton Yelchin have been approached for lead roles with Anson Mount from Hell on Wheels up for a role as well.

Warcraft will certainly have a battle when it opens. Star Wars Episode VII is expected to release in December 2015 as well. As loved as Warcraft is, if the movies open close together, it may be a losing battle going against Star Wars.

It looks like console users won’t have to wait very much longer to get their hands on Blizzard’s massive sequel, [amazon_link id=”B00BGA9V2Q” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Diablo 3[/amazon_link]. The hack and slash dungeon crawler that fills our deep, hidden OCD desires to loot everything in site will be making its way onto the PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 3rd.

The control scheme has been completely reworked for consoles and best of all, it will not require an internet connection to play like its PC big brother. You can play online or can have local co-op for some old school adventure. Remember? You used to have friends that would come over to your house and you would play games together? No headsets or racist twelve years old. Good times.

Blizzard has announced that the PS3 and PS4 versions of Diablo 3 will not require a constant internet connection like its PC brother. You can play the game through local multiplayer with four players on screen at once and the camera will simply pan out for a view of all the characters.

Also Diablo 3 will not be able to cross platform game between the PC, PS3 and PS4. So whichever version you have that is who you will be gaming with online also.

Diablo 3 is set for release this fall.

One of the great surprises last night was when Blizzard took to the stage and finally confirmed that Diablo 3 would be making the jump from PC to consoles. Not only that, but the loot filled dungeon crawler will see release on both the PS3 and PS4.

The game will have new customized controls for consoles, new camera perspective and a new interface. For those of you (like me) without a quality PC this is very welcome news. Well that and I like a controller more than keyboard and mouse. I know, I know blasphemy blah, blah, blah.

Diablo 3 will be playable at this year’s PAX East on March 22-24.
