  • Only 4.5 GB GDDR5 Memory Available For Games On PS4

Sony has revealed that, while the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVQO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]PS4[/amazon_link] will come equipped with an impressive 8GB of GDDR5 memory, only 4.5GB of that is available to game developers.

3.5GB is reserved on the system to run Sony’s new OS with a 1GB of “flexible memory” that can be pulled from the OS to use for the games if needed upping the total to 5.5GB. So, in response, the internet community has done what they do so well and jumped off the deep end in response with some morons in comment threads saying they will cancel their pre-orders because of this.

    Why?

No game is going to need most of the 8GB on the system. Hell, most games will be good with less than the 4.5GB and very few, I am assuming, will need to stretch into the extra memory. Developers have a sh**ton of space to work with and, if anything, the 3.5GB reserved for the OS on the system will mean that we will get a much better experience than we are used to with the PS3, including the ability to play while downloading and a much better running PSN.

Slow down, bleeding hearts. Take a breath and everything will be alright.

  • Go Behind The Scenes Of Crytek’s Ryse: Son Of Rome

Ryse: Son of Rome gets to me. I can’t explain it. I want to play this damn thing. Yes, we can all get into the whole “it looks like a game full of QTE’s” argument, but Ryse simply looks fun as hell.

Crytek has just released a video that takes a look at the motion capture for the game and how the power of the Xbox One will be able to bring powerful performances to the game like never before. Even if you are not planning on getting Ryse there is no denying it is a beautiful game.

    [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTU74″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Ryse: Son of Rome[/amazon_link] is a launch day title for the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVMI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link].

  • Hope You Like Black Widow, She Is A Big Part Of Avengers 2.

    black-widow-year-one

In an interview with MTV, director Joss Whedon gave some insight on his sequel to [amazon_link id=”B0083SBJXS” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]The Avengers[/amazon_link], Age of Ultron. He said that Black Widow will still be an integral part of the second film:

“Natasha is a huge part of the sequel, because you do want to concentrate on the people who don’t have their own franchises. Although she’s in ‘Cap 2,’ [and] she’s great. She was the most fun for me because she’s not a hero, you know, and it’s something that I read—and I feel bad that I can’t remember who wrote the book—but it’s in one of the books explaining, ‘These guys are heroes, you are a spy. It’s a different thing—it’s a different skill set—and you don’t have their moral high ground or any of that good stuff.’ And that just makes her so interesting to me. So yeah, the stuff I’ve got going on with her in the second one is killer.”

I know many people have had problems with the Black Widow character, but Whedon can put as much ScarJo on screen as he wants and I will thank him for it.

The director is also excited about having Hawkeye be a full member of the team this go round:

“It’s very much a global Avengers film. A lot of the movie has to do with their place not just in America, but the world. Part of the fun for me, definitely this time around, is writing Hawkeye. He did get possessed pretty early by a bad guy and had to walk around all scowly for most of the movie, so now it’s nice to actually have the character there and see him interact with the other guys.”

Avengers: Age of Ultron releases in May 2015.

  • Knights Of Badassdom Has Peter Dinklage LARPing. You Will Watch This Movie.

Knights of Badassdom has been completed for two years. I am guessing that it was looking like straight-to-home fare, but now that Peter Dinklage is a household name with Game of Thrones, it is looking like there is money to be made. The thing about KOB is that the cast is actually pretty damn good with Dinklage, Steve Zahn, Summer Glau and Danny Pudi.

Check out the trailer. I got a few chuckles out of it and any time Summer Glau is on screen it is medically proven to add four minutes of life to any man.

  • NBA Live 14 Cover Revealed, First Game Clip With Cover Athlete Kyrie Irving

    nba-live-14-kyrie-irving-cover-art_1280

I am genuinely excited about NBA Live 14. I have never been able to latch onto the 2K game and yes, I realize that I must be one of the minority. Live used to be a yearly buy for me going all the way back to NBA Live 95 on SNES, to NBA Live 97 on my Sega Saturn and on into the PS2 days. So it hurt me to see the franchise fall so hard on its face the past five years.

Now after false starts and cancellations weeks before release, EA is set to bring back NBA Live to the PS4 and Xbox One. I am not expecting it to beat the 2K series or even compete, but I hope that it will be a fun restart to the series.

Today, the cover for the game was officially unveiled with Cleveland Cavaliers star Kyrie Irving. There is also a short announcement clip below using the game engine to introduce Irving to the masses.

  • Sign The Dredd Sequel Petition. Make Your Voice Heard

    karl-urban-as-judge-dredd-in-dredd-2012

Dredd was one of my favorite movies of 2012 (click here for our review), but it failed to make an impact at the box office. That is a shame because the movie is as close to a perfect translation of the character as you will get.

Do not despair! Not all is lost!

2000 AD is pushing for a sequel and they want you to get involved. They have an online petition going to show your support for a sequel to the film. All you have to do is click here and in a few easy steps you will have signed your name to a worthy cause-the cause of Judge Dredd taking law to the lawless.

  • Activision Bringing Six Games To Wii U This Fall

No one can blame Activision for contributing to the [amazon_link id=”B009AGXH64″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Wii U[/amazon_link] game drought. They have just announced that six games will be making their way onto Nintendo’s struggling console this fall including Call of Duty: Ghosts.

    Here is the lineup:

    -Call of Duty: Ghosts

    -Angry Birds Star Wars

    -Angry Birds Trilogy

    -Skylanders Swap Force

    -Spongebob Squarepants: Plankton’s Robotic Revenge

    -Wipeout: Create & Crash

Really none of these are system sellers (since COD is on every system already) but it will at least give owners a few new things to think about getting, especially if you have kids.

Merry Christmas Johnny! It’s Spongebob and Call of Duty!

  • Self-Publishing Coming To Xbox One

Microsoft’s seems to have gotten in the giving spirit when it comes to reversing policies. They will now allow self-publishing as an option on the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVMI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link]. In an interview with Engadget, Xbox Corporate VP Mark Whitten gave a statement confirming the change and when we would hear more about the details:

“Our vision is that every person can be a creator. That every Xbox One can be used for development. That every game and experience can take advantage of all of the features of Xbox One and Xbox LIVE. This means self-publishing. This means Kinect, the cloud, achievements. This means great discoverability on Xbox LIVE. We’ll have more details on the program and the timeline at gamescom in August.”

It certainly seems like Microsoft is trying to win back some of the support that has been lost over the past few months with these changes. Only time will tell if it is working.

And not crushing Make-A-Wish kids dreams would help also.

  • Sooo Ten May Not Be The End For Sunny

    IASIP-its-always-sunny-in-philadelphia-1381251-512-384

    Let’s play rewind theater.

Tuesday we reported that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia was set to end its run after Season 10 per series star Glenn Howerton. Check out the original article here.

    Done? OK, good.

    Scratch all that.

Howerton is now saying that he was misquoted in the newest issue of Rolling Stone and that Sunny may, in fact, run past its tenth season.

    Cue quote:

“That was a misquote in Rolling Stone, y’all. We’re signed on through 10 seasons, but may do more … It’s a great article in Rolling Stone. I just think he misunderstood when I said we’re only signed thru 10. We still might sign on for more … Easy on Rolling Stone, you guys. It was an honest mistake.”

Let’s hope this means we will get a Lethal Weapon 6 at some point.

  • X-Men: Days Of Future’s Past Age Shift Poster Doesn’t Quite Work On Wolverine

    days-of-future-past

And if you are wondering why it is that Wolverine looks the exact same instead of like the Professor X and Magneto ones from yesterday then you are not the audience the movie is looking for. Luckily, you have a whole year to watch all of the X-Men films (not so much X-Men 3 or Origins) and grab yourself some classic X-Men collections to get yourself ready.

X-Men: Days of Future’s Past releases on May 23, 2014.
