  • Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow 2 Trailer

Check out the trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 with some great voice work by Robert Carlyle (SG:U, Once Upon A Time). Centuries have passed since the first game and you will now be playing in modern times. No release date has been announced for the game.

  • New Mass Effect Has A Late 2014- Mid-2015 Release Window

Take heart Mass Effect fans, EA and Bioware are already hard at work on the next game in the series.

The fact there is going to be a new Mass Effect game is no surprise with Bioware’s Casey Hudson tweeting about this back in November but now Mike Gamble, producer on Mass Effect 3, has given the game a very early release window.

“Late 2014 to mid-2015. I honestly can’t tell you an exact because full development on the game started a month or two ago.”

So I guess we can be pretty safe to say that the next title in the franchise will be on next-gen consoles. The game will be a completely new story not involving Commander Shepard (for obvious reasons). It has not been announced if the title will be a prequel or a true sequel.

Gamble went on to talk about the use of a new engine for the game and more.

“The game isn’t far along in development so I can’t comment on specifics because they isn’t any yet. Frostbite 2 is a really good game engine that we are also using on Dragon Age 3. As far as release date, there’s nothing to be announced yet. You’ll hear more about the new Mass Effect game in 2013.”

  • Vote On Bioshock Infinite’s Alternate Cover

Don’t ever say that game developers refuse to listen to their fans. After Bioshock Infinite’s box art was met with less than enthusiastic results it seems Ken Levine has given fans a choice for an alternate cover. The cover will be reversible so you can choose between the original and whichever other choice is voted in by fans. There are six designs to choose from. Make your voice heard.

  • Gears Of War: Judgment VGA Trailer

While founders of Epic may be leaving left and right Gears of War: Judgment is still roadie running its way to release. The new trailer shows Baird and his group being put on trial for events that should take place in the game 30 days after E-Day. Developer People Can Fly have a lot to live up to gameplay wise but from what has been shown they seem to be keeping everything strictly Gears. If it’s not broke…

Take a look at the trailer below.

Gears of War; Judgment releases on March 19, 2013.

  • South Park: The Stick Of Truth VGA Trailer

South Park: The Stick of Truth may be THQ’s saving grace. That is if the company can last long enough to release the game. The new trailer shown during the VGA’s is not exactly kid friendly but really what did you expect? Obsidian has done a great job making the game look exactly like an episode of the show and you can tell that Matt Stone and Trey Parker have not just phoned in the script or voice overs. I can count six or seven good laughs in this trailer so that gives me hope that this game can put the awful memory of my wasted money on South Park 64 behind me.

And yes, if you bought that game you would feel hurt too.

South Park: The Stick of Truth was originally scheduled for release on March 5, 2013 but was delayed to sometime after April.

  • The Last Of Us VGA Trailer, Release Date Confirmed

Box Art And Pre-Order Bonuses Detailed Also.

It takes a lot for a game to make me put a new Gears of War on the back burner but Naughty Dog’s [amazon_link id=”B007CM0K86″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]The Last of Us[/amazon_link] is doing just that. It is easily my most looked forward to game of next year and the biggest question of all was finally answered at Spike VGA’s this past weekend.

When is the thing coming out?

Luckily it won’t be too much longer. The Last of Us is set for release on May 7, 2013 which puts it at the perfect time when I should be done with the plethora of games coming out in the spring.

Naughty Dog also detailed the pre-order bonuses that you will receive when you pick up your copy next May. Officially called the Sights and Sounds Pack, gamers that pre-order will receive the game’s soundtrack, PS3 background theme and two avatars for your PSN profile (winter Joel and winter Ellie).

One piece of news that caught some off guard was the fact that there will be a multiplayer component to the game. Naughty Dog did not give any specifics into the multiplayer but did say that pre-orders would also receive the  Survival Pack for the mysterious section of the game. Extras include a melee attack booster, extra in-game cash, bonus XP, special character items and two special characters skins for Joel and Ellie after completion of the single-player game.

Last but certainly not least is the new trailer that debuted at the VGA’s. It gives us a good look (so far) of the infected population. Mostly until now most of the gameplay has shown off Joel and Ellie fighting off non-infected humans as they try to survive. Take a look at the new trailer below and let us know if you are looking forward to the game as much as I am.

  • VGA 10 Awards Rundown

Unlike The Oscars, They Got It Right.

OK, I can admit when I am wrong. I can be the bigger man (not just body wise) and say that while I did make fun of the VGA’s in last Friday’s post I actually enjoyed watching this year’s show. True they did not give out a lot of awards but they did place a good importance on the awards that were given out. It seems they heard the cries of years past that the show was merely a bloated preview special. Don’t get me wrong, it was certainly bloated but not to the point of being useless.

Three things that I took away from the VGA’s:

    1. It was a breath of fresh air to see a deserving game like The Walking Dead win Game of the Year over the more obvious choices.

    2. The Last of Us is coming out on May 7th. I think I lost man points with the excitement I showed in front of my girlfriend when this was announced.

    3. Although Zachary Levi had a reason for his blonde hair (filming the Thor sequel) there was no reason for what happened to Alison Haislip’s hair. Not being too critical because she is uber-hot but….dang.

Here is the rundown of all the winners from VGA 10.

    • Game of the Year- The Walking Dead (Telltale Games)

  • VGA’s Are Tonight In Case You Forgot

Has it really been ten years since Spike started their own video game awards show? Time really flies when the awards mean nothing and the show is mainly used as a hub for new game previews and not to celebrate the winners. Sarcasm aside, tonight is the tenth VGA’s and I fully intend to watch it because…well that’s what we do. It’s video games. There will be awards for game, studio, soundtrack and downloadable game of the year among others.

New previews will be shown for Tomb Raider, Gears of War: Judgment, The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite as well as a few surprises which always seem to happen at the show (please let Rocksteady announce their next game).

So set your DVR’s accordingly and in case you miss it we will have a full rundown of the winners and game previews up after the show airs.

  • Bioshock Infinite Delayed. Yes, Again.

Not For Too Long So Don’t Panic.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. [amazon_link id=”B003O6E6NE” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Bioshock Infinite[/amazon_link] has been delayed.

The game will see a one month delay and release on March 26, 2013, so it is leaving a crowded February for a crowded March. March 2013 will already see the releases of Tomb Raider, God of War: Ascension and Gears of War: Judgment.

Irrational Games Ken Levine made the announcement citing that they could ship the game in February but it wouldn’t hurt to take a few more weeks and do more bug testing to make sure the game is what the fans deserve.

“I knew I’d probably get beat up in the press a little bit about it, but at the end of the day, if it’s going to make a better game, we’ll do it.”

I personally have been waiting for three years on this game so another month will be no problem especially if it makes it better.
