  • Satoru Iwata Says The Wii U Needs Games, Not A Price Drop

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata continues to reiterate that the Wii U does not need a price drop to be successful against the upcoming next-gen consoles. In an interview with CVG, Iwata gave the reasoning of the premium bundle selling more than the basic that shows the price is not the Wii U’s main problem.

“The basic version should have sold a lot, but the fact of the matter is that people are buying more of the premium version. So the issue is not there. I understand that the real issue is the lack of software, and the only solution is to provide the mass-market with a number of quality software titles.”

The lack of titles is not the only problem with the Wii U. It is “a” problem, but not “the” problem. The Nintendo problem lies with the software deficiency, the marketing of the system (there are still people who believe the Wii U is a controller add-on for the Wii) and the $350 price tag which is getting harder to justify as we get closer to the PS4’s launch at only $50 more. Nintendo made all the right decisions when it came to turning around the fortunes of the 3DS, yet they seem to be stuck in a Nintendo 64 mindset when it comes to the [amazon_link id=”B009AGXH64″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Wii U[/amazon_link].

  • WWE 2K14 Will Celebrate 30 Years Of Wrestlemania

One of the biggest features of this years WWE 2K14 has been announced and to coincide with next years Wrestlemania 30, the game will let players recreate 45 matches spanning the thirty years that the “grandaddy of them all” has been in existence. I wondered how the guys at Yuke’s would be able to surpass WWE 13’s amazing Attitude Era mode and this certainly has gotten my hopes very high. Only three matches have been revealed for the game so far and they are:

-Andre the Giant vs. Hulk Hogan (Wrestlemania 3)

-The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan (Wrestlemania 18)

-The Rock vs. John Cena (Wrestlemania 28)

The full list of legends available in the game will be revealed this Saturday, August 17th at the Summerslam Axxess event. This should give us a good indication of some of the matches that will be included in the 30 Years of Wrestlemania mode.

45 matches is good amount of content so I am hoping that the developers choose a good mixture of the classic and some off-the-wall stuff. Here are a few of my choices I would like to see when [amazon_link id=”B00CMC6HCY” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]WWE 2K14[/amazon_link] releases on October 29th.

-“Macho Man” Randy Savage vs. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat (Wrestlemania 3)

-Rick Rude vs. The Ultimate Warrior (Wrestlemania 5)

-Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels (Wrestlemania 10)

    -DDP vs. Christian (Wrestlemania 18)

-The Undertaker vs. Ric Flair (Wrestlemania 18)

-The Rock and Mick Foley vs. Evolution (Wrestlemania 20)

-Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker (Wrestlemania 25)

  • Saints Row IV Super Dangerous Wad Wad Edition Is Bat Sh** Crazy

We all know how over the top the Saints Row franchise is. People were wondering how they could possibly do any more than give gamers an actual working dubstep gun, but this is ri-damn-diculous and it is the exact reason why you should love this game.

I give to you the [amazon_link id=”B00BRQN2H4″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Saints Row IV[/amazon_link] Super Dangerous Wad Wad Edition. While you may be used to paying from $80-$150 on your normal collectors editions, this bad boy will set you back the paltry sum of $1 million (cue Dr. Evil finger).

Also, you get to go to space….SPACE. We shit you not.

    1…million…dollars.

The amount of content in this collector’s set runs from the odd (spy training) to the downright fu**ing weird (plastic surgery). I don’t even know if I can list all the items without slowly slipping into a coma thinking of how the guys at Deep Silver/Volition even came up with this. Just read the items above.

I see it going down a bit like this:

    Dr. Boobinshaft: Hello

Volition: Hi Doctor, we are wanting to set up a date for an appontment.

Dr. B: OK, what is your name?

Volition: Oh, it’s not for us. We are giving it away as part of a video game.

Dr. B: Seriously? How do I know if it will be a male or female or what kind of work it will be?

Volition: Well Doc we will go ahead and say that there is an 75-80% it will be a male, possibly lonely, looking for pec implants or dick work.

Saints Row IV releases on August 20th.

  • PS Vitas Only $199 At Target August 18-24th

According to a leaked Target ad, the retailer will be selling both PS Vita sets for $199 during the week of August 18-24th. That is a savings of $50 for the WiFi version and a very helpful $100 off the 3G/WiFi version. Whether this is a Target only sale or the indication of a Vita price cut is not know, but either way if you have been looking for a good time to pick up Sony’s portable this may be it.

I love my Vita and have not regretted buying it once in the year and a half I have had it. The library is ridiculously big and add in the collection of free games when you are a PS Plus member and the value is undeniable.

  • Check Out The Wonderful 101 Nintendo Direct

After watching this 20-minute presentation of [amazon_link id=”B002I08CSW” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]The Wonderful 101[/amazon_link], I can once again say to Nintendo:

“PLEASE GIVE THE WII U A PRICE DROP! I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME, BUT CAN STILL NOT JUSTIFY $350 FOR THE CONSOLE.”

This video goes very in depth into the core of the gameplay, like how you will save citizens and morph into the varied array of items like a giant fist, sword and whip. This is exactly the type of game that the Wii U needs to get people excited about the system. The only problem is that you need an exclusive game like this to come out every 1-2 months. With Pikmin 3 just coming out and The Wonderful 101 in September they are the first significant releases for the system in over 6 months.

The Wonderful 101 releases on September 15th.

All Wii U complaints aside, hot damn does this game look fun!

  • Titanfall Box Art Is Full Of Titan, Little On Fall

Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall was one of the most talked about titles at this year’s E3 and for good reason. It looked beyond beautiful and was a shooter fans wet dream. Huge multiplayer battles with jetpacks, jumping off walls and the pure nerd delight of all the mech action easily makes this the killer app for the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVMI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link].

Everything about the game seems to be hitting the right notes and that keep going with the reveal of the box art today which is gorgeous in its simplicity.

    Titanfall releases in 2014.

  • Rufus Hound Shows You The “Wii U Difference”. Does It Work?

    large

So everyone knows Nintendo is struggling and those struggles extend into the U.K. So how will Nintendo remedy this?

    Price drop?

    A 3DS-type ambassador program?

    Better bundle options?

Noooo silly rabbit. They will give you a new video with British comedian Rufus Hound explaining the “Wii U difference”.

The fact that the Wii U is now nine months old and Nintendo is having to run videos still explaining that it is a new console and not a Wii peripheral shows just one of the large problems in the marketing.

Plus, I prefer my Rufus Hound with a Hulk Hogan handlebar mustache.
