Thing I am excited about with the launch of the Xbox One: Killer Instinct. It is my favorite fighter ever and I am praying that it doesn’t get screwed up.
Thing I want that would make it better: This Killer Instinct FightStick by Mad Catz to complete my teenage years arcade experience.
Why it will not happen: $209.99.
I am pretty sure I could find a KI1 or KI2 arcade cabinet for $500. Screw that.
Killer Instinct releases on November 22nd with the Xbox One. It will be available as a download only title for free with Jago playable to everyone. Characters can be purchased individually or in a package.
Master thief Garrett is back in a new gameplay trailer for Thief. The game is looking quite moody and beautiful and hopefully can keep the legacy of the Thief franchise going. It is being developed by Eidos and published by Square, so if it sells 3 million copies, Square will call it a disappointment.
Beyond: Two Souls, the next cinematic game from Quantic Dream makes its way to PS3 this week. Starring Ellen Page and Willam Dafoe, it is the developers follow up to Heavy Rain and so far early reviews have not been too kind saying you feel more like a spectator than controlling a character. Of course, decide for yourself if you want to give it a try. Also, Pokémon is back with two new games on 3DS which I am sure will sell all too well.

To the surprise of no one, Ubisoft has announced a Season Pass for [amazon_link id=”B00BMFIXKQ” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Assassin’s Creed IV[/amazon_link] which will include the single player DLC, Freedom Cry. You will play the part of Adewale, Edward Kenway’s friend on the Jackdaw as he is caught in the slaving community. Never let it be said that the franchise is not afraid to take on sensitive subjects.
The $20 Season Pass will also include new missions, skins, weapons, the Kraken ship pack and more characters in multiplayer. It will save 20% over buying it all separately.
Now this is definitely good news. United Front Games, developers of the open world gem, Sleeping Dogs, has announced that a sequel “based in the Sleeping Dogs universe” is in the works. Whether this is a true sequel to the adventures of Wei Shen is not known.
The company has registered the trademark Triad Wars which could also mean a game with a more online component set in virtual Hong Kong. Either way, I will gladly take more Sleeping Dogs however I can get it.
Check out my review here and see why you should pick this game up.
Irrational Games wants to remind you that Bioshock: Burial at Sea is still coming with this trailer which is a trip for fans of old documentaries like me. Myles Bloom is searching for answers to see if the secret city of Rapture is real in this “Fact from Myth” feature that looks like a TV documentary from the 70’s.
Bioshock: Burial at Sea will release this year. Hopefully.
2K is back to defend its b-ball crown, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker gives Wii U owners a reason to get excited and one of the most unique looking games ever comes to PSN. Also, the 3DS keeps its library growing with Etrian Odyssey and Rune Factory.
Bungie has given a release window in their newest trailer for Destiny which takes players deep within the moon to show the creatures you will be facing in the developers massive follow-up to Halo. Those who pre-order the game will get access to the beta when it starts early next year.
For those of you that like to download your games digitally to your console, the next generation will certainly see more of games like Killzone: Shadow Fall, but right now, this is a different thing. The upcoming shooter developed by Guerilla will be an almost 50GB install when the game releases alongside the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVQO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Playstation 4[/amazon_link] on November 15th.
I guess it is a good thing you can play as you download on the Playstation 4 because that might be quite a wait for 50 GB. Fergal Gara, from Sony UK, used this announcement to push Sony’s new download ability.
“The Play as you Download functionality, for example, means you don’t need the whole file before you go. This is a little bit counterbalanced by the fact the files themselves are getting bloody big. Killzone: Shadow Fall is an uber file – I think it’s cracking on for 50 GB. It looks it, too, when you see it.”
Call me old fashioned, but I am sticking with discs until someone tells me that I can not buy them anymore and have to use a digital service.
Activision and Bungie have released the box art for their highly anticipated game Destiny. There is nothing really bad about it, though I think I would have liked the simpler picture they have been using for posters and ads with the planet sitting against a starry backdrop.
I want this one.
Destiny is Bungie’s first independent game since breaking away from Microsoft and the Halo franchise. It is expected to release in 2014.
