The fine people over at Comic Book Resources have broke the news that everone’s favorite psychopathic girlfriend, Harley Quinn, will be getting her own series beginning this fall in DC’s New 52. The title will be written by Jimmy Palmiotti with art by Amanda Conner.
In the interview, Palmiotti spoke about how their Harley plays along with the New 52:
“We took a good long look at the New 52 version and then applied it to what we were going to do in the series. Harley is a complex character and we are going to build on her background, motivations and her home and supporting cast. Sort of what we did with Power Girl but with a mix of a bit more homicidal maniac added in.”
Conner was asked about her inspiration for Harley’s new costume for the series:
“I am trying to incorporate my favorite things about her latest look and her early costume. I was also inspired by some roller derby girls that I met a short time ago. I think that look totally works for Harley. Another thing I try to keep in mind is what would work really well for costumers and cosplayers, and what would be fun for them to create. One of my favorite things at a comic convention is seeing people dressed up in something that just started out as a thought in my head. Lastly, I always put the character in something that I wish I could run around in all the time”
Why can’t one day…just one day…go by without me wanting to buy some random item when there is so much more I could be doing with my money like saving or making it rain Pacman Jones-style?
These rather awesome looking 3D night lights are done by 3D Light FX and can be found at all Target stores nationwide. They retail for only $25 which is a steal to me. If you have kids that are into the Marvel movies this should be a no brainer and if you are a fat nerd that likes bright shiny things that make you feel safe at night this will be in your (my) room soon.
The heroes available are: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man. Go and check out the complete line on the 3D Light FX site.
And here I thought I was only going to be buying two Superman statues this year. I have already bought the DC Direct Man of Steel statue and Kotobukiya will already have me on the hook this fall for their statue inspired by this summer’s blockbuster movie. I thought I was done. Finished.
Like Michael Corleone they keep pulling me back in.
Set your eyes on the newest in the Koto line inspired by Brian Azzarello’s Superman: For Tomorrow. So if you know me and my love for Jim Lee visuals (re: arm tattoo) then you know I have no choice but to welcome this 12′” piece into my collection.
This year marks the Man of Steel’s 75th anniversary and DC is beginning to ramp up the festivities this summer. Of course you have Zack Snyder’s huge summer film Man of Steel and on the comics side there are two new series debuting this summer, Scott Snyder and Jim Lee’s Superman Unchained and Greg Pak and Jae Lee’s Batman/Superman.
DC has released an official logo for Superman’s big year which will accompany everything having to do with the big, blue boy scout this year.
A two minute animated feature produced by Zack Snyder which will detail Superman’s legacy from comics to cartoons to movies will also be released sometime this year.
