20 years ago on a random Friday night in September, a thirteen year old boy sat down to watch two new shows that would become some of the most memorable TV viewing of his life. One only lasted for one season (The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.) and the other would go on to run for nine seasons and 202 episodes reigniting the world’s obsession with aliens and the unknown.

20 years later The X-Files still stands up to most shows on the air today and to celebrate the anniversary there will a special panel at the San Diego Comic-Con. On Thursday, July 18th creator Chris Carter and Gillian Anderson will be joined by writers and producers David Amann, Vince Gilligan, Howard Gordon, Darin Morgan, Glen Morgan, John Shiban and Jim Wong to discuss the series and its place in sci-fi and TV history.

David Duchovny is not scheduled to appear…yet.

    *UPDATE*

David Duchovny has confirmed that he WILL BE at the Comic-Con panel. So now it is a true reunion.

  • Game Of Thrones Season 3 Home Release Date Set, Vote On Favorite Cover.

    Game-of-Thrones-Season-3-Jaime-HD-Wallpaper

For those of you that want to relive the intense heartache that was the third season of Game of Thrones, you will get your chance to next year. HBO has announced that Season 3 will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on February 18, 2014, just over a month before the premiere of Season 4.

To keep you invested while you wait HBO is letting you vote on what exclusive packaging will accompany the set at Best Buy’s nationwide. There are three different sets to choose from including three character covers and two different sets of house sigils. All you have to do is go and like the HBO Facebook page and like which set you want to occupy your shelf space.

Of the three I prefer the character profiles, but if I had my druthers, I would go a different route.

Look below to see, but be warned!

  • Game Of Thrones “The Rains Of Castamere” Reactions Video

    *Spoilers In Video Ahead*

Well, it finally happened. The infamous RW. I waited not so patiently for three years for last night just to see the social media explosion and I was not disappointed in the least! If there is one thing about Game of Thrones (and George R.R. Martin), it is that you are fully vested in these characters and when an episode like “The Rains of Castamere” happens you are going to get a strong reaction.

    How strong you may ask?

Well let’s take a look at a small sampling from YouTube last night of fans who filmed their friends and families watching the scene. I love the giggles of the fans who have obviously read the books as they watch their comrades absolutely LOSE. THEIR. SHIT.

    Once again I must say:

Do Not Watch If You Have Not Watched “The Rains Of Castamere”!

  • Seal the Deal – Arrested Development Season 4 Launch

    AD Promo

I have to physically restrain myself from filling this article with inside gags, but I think I will manage; doing otherwise might alienate a few readers, and that would be a huge mistake.

    See what I did there?

If not, then I have some great news for you: Arrested Development has a whole new season to enjoy thanks to Netflix! Except, wait, if you didn’t get the joke, it means you haven’t seen the first three seasons…

Let me start over, since I may have just blown my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run, and now this whole article is a bit of a mess on my hands.

After a completely foreseeable cancellation that still caught everyone by surprise, A.D. is back for another fifteen episodes exclusive to the aforementioned streaming video service. The episodes went up yesterday, and I have already finished my initial viewing; after all, I have to give you good people a review by the end of the week. If you’re a fan of the show, you really shouldn’t be reading this anyway; you should be watching them. Go watch them.

If you aren’t a fan of the show, I have great news for you as well: The entire series was just re-released on DVD with new packaging and is currently [amazon_link id=”B00CE4L28E” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Amazon’s TV Deal of the Week at just $25.[/amazon_link]

Of course, you could just use a fake e-mail address to sign up for a one-month free trial of Netflix, which has all three original seasons as well as the new episodes… But you really expect the guy with the $25 deal to not tel you about it? C’mon!

  • Ichabod Crane Returns

Yet another Sleepy Hollow revival is in the works and will be airing on FOX this fall (Mondays at 9pm ET for those of you who care). And though I believe this trailer looks absolutely fantastic, I fear getting too invested in the show. After all, it’s a FOX show, right? It’ll be cancelled before it even airs.

However, if it does make it to prime time, the show won’t get a full season; ‘The Following’ is expected to take over the time slot mid-year. So perhaps FOX is changing things up. Maybe they’ll put real effort into a fewer number of episodes and the show will actually be as cool as it looks.

  • Game of Thrones Timeline Announced

Game of Thrones producer Frank Doelger recently revealed a (very) rough timeline for GoT, predicting that it will continue for four more seasons, concluding with seven in total.

We’ve already been told that book three will be divided between seasons three and four, which immediately poses a problem.  Seven books are expected to complete the series, but that suggests at least one season will contain two or more books.  Now I haven’t read the books, and so I do not know the plausibility of such a decision, but it seems rather premature to state that seven seasons will be the limit.  I guess that’s why it’s a rough timeline and not a final decision.

  • Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. First Trailer

CHLOE BENNET, ELIZABETH HENSTRIDGE, IAIN DE CAESTECKER, CLARK GREGG, MING-NA WEN, BRETT DALTON

Now that ABC has officially picked up Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (was there any doubt?), we can all begin salivating over the trailer that was just released for it and not so patiently wait for September to exactly figure out how Coulson lives.

Joss Whedon directed the pilot and will consult and produce the rest of the first season.

  • Diamond Toys Star Trek “Space Seed” Toy Set. Now I Am Complete.

    Star-Trek-Select-Captain-Kirk-Action-Figure

Space Seed was the episode of The Original Series that began a legend whose name was Khan. Now Diamond Toys is releasing this set which lets you recreate Capt. Kirk’s fight with the genetically enhanced warrior. You can position the set like you see above or even make Kirk give Khan his famous flying kick.

There is so much want exuding out of my body right now that I am sure the people next to me think I am ready to take them out for a nice seafood dinner and never call them again.

A Spock figure will also be released from the episode “Devil in the Dark” complete with a Horta.

I think even Dr. Sheldon Cooper, who famously said, “suck it, Zachary Quinto”, would approve of this commercial from Audi starring Leonard Nimoy and his alternate reality counterpart.

There are many things in life that make me happy: football, caramel apple empanadas, Far Cry and now, this.

This is Super Bowl worthy and not in the “I wish that was better” sort of way, but the “Betty White playing mud football with Abe Vigoda” sort of way.

  • Ronald D. Moore’s Helix Looks To Be Fringerrific…Or X-Filestacular

The first trailer for the new SyFy show Helix is here and it leaves something to be desired. Now I am going to fully give this show a chance when it comes out, but if we are going by first impressions alone on this teaser then it looks like the black oil from The X-Files is infecting researchers at an Arctic base….and I know I am not the only one that thought the opening words were from a Fringe episode right?

But if it is like any Ronald D. Moore show on SyFy then I will get heavily attached to it only to have them cancel it for budget reasons and have to end early on a quickly put together finale that tries to tie up years of mythos in two hours.

    Frak.
