  • Hope You Like Black Widow, She Is A Big Part Of Avengers 2.

In an interview with MTV, director Joss Whedon gave some insight on his sequel to [amazon_link id=”B0083SBJXS” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]The Avengers[/amazon_link], Age of Ultron. He said that Black Widow will still be an integral part of the second film:

“Natasha is a huge part of the sequel, because you do want to concentrate on the people who don’t have their own franchises. Although she’s in ‘Cap 2,’ [and] she’s great. She was the most fun for me because she’s not a hero, you know, and it’s something that I read—and I feel bad that I can’t remember who wrote the book—but it’s in one of the books explaining, ‘These guys are heroes, you are a spy. It’s a different thing—it’s a different skill set—and you don’t have their moral high ground or any of that good stuff.’ And that just makes her so interesting to me. So yeah, the stuff I’ve got going on with her in the second one is killer.”

I know many people have had problems with the Black Widow character, but Whedon can put as much ScarJo on screen as he wants and I will thank him for it.

The director is also excited about having Hawkeye be a full member of the team this go round:

“It’s very much a global Avengers film. A lot of the movie has to do with their place not just in America, but the world. Part of the fun for me, definitely this time around, is writing Hawkeye. He did get possessed pretty early by a bad guy and had to walk around all scowly for most of the movie, so now it’s nice to actually have the character there and see him interact with the other guys.”

Avengers: Age of Ultron releases in May 2015.

  • Knights Of Badassdom Has Peter Dinklage LARPing. You Will Watch This Movie.

Knights of Badassdom has been completed for two years. I am guessing that it was looking like straight-to-home fare, but now that Peter Dinklage is a household name with Game of Thrones, it is looking like there is money to be made. The thing about KOB is that the cast is actually pretty damn good with Dinklage, Steve Zahn, Summer Glau and Danny Pudi.

Check out the trailer. I got a few chuckles out of it and any time Summer Glau is on screen it is medically proven to add four minutes of life to any man.

  • Sign The Dredd Sequel Petition. Make Your Voice Heard

    karl-urban-as-judge-dredd-in-dredd-2012

Dredd was one of my favorite movies of 2012 (click here for our review), but it failed to make an impact at the box office. That is a shame because the movie is as close to a perfect translation of the character as you will get.

Do not despair! Not all is lost!

2000 AD is pushing for a sequel and they want you to get involved. They have an online petition going to show your support for a sequel to the film. All you have to do is click here and in a few easy steps you will have signed your name to a worthy cause-the cause of Judge Dredd taking law to the lawless.

  • Sooo Ten May Not Be The End For Sunny

    IASIP-its-always-sunny-in-philadelphia-1381251-512-384

    Let’s play rewind theater.

Tuesday we reported that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia was set to end its run after Season 10 per series star Glenn Howerton. Check out the original article here.

    Done? OK, good.

    Scratch all that.

Howerton is now saying that he was misquoted in the newest issue of Rolling Stone and that Sunny may, in fact, run past its tenth season.

    Cue quote:

“That was a misquote in Rolling Stone, y’all. We’re signed on through 10 seasons, but may do more … It’s a great article in Rolling Stone. I just think he misunderstood when I said we’re only signed thru 10. We still might sign on for more … Easy on Rolling Stone, you guys. It was an honest mistake.”

Let’s hope this means we will get a Lethal Weapon 6 at some point.

  • X-Men: Days Of Future’s Past Age Shift Poster Doesn’t Quite Work On Wolverine

    days-of-future-past

And if you are wondering why it is that Wolverine looks the exact same instead of like the Professor X and Magneto ones from yesterday then you are not the audience the movie is looking for. Luckily, you have a whole year to watch all of the X-Men films (not so much X-Men 3 or Origins) and grab yourself some classic X-Men collections to get yourself ready.

X-Men: Days of Future’s Past releases on May 23, 2014.

  • Trailer For 47 Ronin Starring Keanu Reeves

This trailer for the Keanu Reeves samurai epic 47 Ronin at least proves that the movie exist and is getting released. It was originally planned for a November 2012 release and then dated again for February of this year, but was finally pushed back again to Christmas. The initial budget was an already large $175 million then kept climbing to around $225 million. Here is hoping that Universal’s faith in the project pays off.

The first look does leave an impression with a good mix of martial arts and fantasy. I don’t know if audiences will go in droves for the samurai driven film, but I will certainly give it a shot. Where else will you see Ted “Theodore” Logan slice a dude’s head off with a sword?

47 Ronin releases on December 25th.

  • New Trailer For Gravity Brings The Horrors Of Space

We all have that inner child inside that has wanted to be an astronaut. To go out and explore the beyond for the benefit of mankind. But Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity will take a look at the horrific side of the unknown. The loneliness that will await you when you are left drifting with no hope.

The new trailer shows a bit of this as Sandra Bullock begins to drift helplessly and send out word for any kind of help. I, for one, can not wait for this to come out. It is the right kind of tension I look for in a movie.

    Gravity releases on October 4th.

  • Season 10 Will Be The End For It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia

Most shows that run eight years may be running a bit short of material, but that has never happened to [amazon_link id=”B000RW3VDE” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia[/amazon_link]. It has provided more out loud laughs, for me, than any other show this side of Archer. It is hard to believe the gang will be entering Season 9 this fall and now it is even harder to believe the end is in sight.

The show will end its run after the tenth season according to series star Glenn Howerton. The master of the D.E.N.N.I.S. system told of the series end in an interview with Rolling Stone.

“There’s a certain point where you wear out your welcome and we don’t want to do that. We want to leave them wanting more. We spend a lot of time trying to find new lines to cross. We’re not trying to offend people or gross them out, but we’re looking to surprise them. I think we’re proud of what we’ve done so far, so it’s time to stop. I’m sure there are already a few people who are like ‘Jesus Christ is that show still on? Go away.’”

Shows can’t run forever so get all the the Mac, Dennis, Charlie, Sweet Dee and Frank action while you still can. And if you have never even attempted to give Sunny a try…da fuq?

And always remember, the Nightman cometh.

Season 9 of Sunny will premiere on the new FXX network on September 4th at 9PM CST.

  • Hollywood In 2015: Something’s Gotta Give

    tumblr_mayqbd9DTy1qg9cujo1_500

We are all used to big summer movie seasons. It is a part of movie culture and it is one of the few reasons to actually get excited about sweating your balls (or other various parts) off in the baking sun. But is Hollywood headed for a year of heartbreak? Two years from now will be the biggest movie year in history. Not just summer, but for 365 days we will be given a deluge of big-budget extravaganzas like we have never seen before in such a short period.

This would indicate that Hollywood should reach their highest box office total ever, but with so many huge event and franchise movies in such a short time will we get burned out? Chances are that a few of these offerings will either not meet lofty expectations or completely bomb altogether just because of the competition releasing so close together.

So now, let’s look in our crystal ball (which oddly looks like a box of Gobstoppers) and see what franchises are sure things and which ones may be left out to wither and die.

Note: These movies are for the entire calendar year of 2015, not just the summer season.

    Avengers: Age of Ultron

As close as you will get to a sure thing to make a billion dollars. Even if the story ends up being weaker than the first, people will show up in droves.

Completely off the radar until last week’s Comic-Con. Zack Snyder returning to direct and Christopher Nolan executive producing. Just don’t screw up the Batman casting and watch the money flow in.

    Star Wars: Episode VII

Disney is going to run this franchise into the ground with yearly movies, but this first one by J.J. Abrams should be a massive hit and hopefully set up a new trilogy well.

It will be 19 years between the original and the sequel when this hits. No Will Smith may hurt, but Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman are returning and if they can cast some good new leads this could work. Will people still care after so long?

On Stranger Tides was the first Pirates to not break $300 million domestically yet it was a huge hit worldwide being the first one in the franchise to cross $1 billion. Even if some are tired of Jack Sparrow, the rest of the world box office will make him a hit again.

Pixar has had a case of sequel-itis for a few years now and I have still not gotten my Incredibles 2. Finding Nemo is one of the most beloved of all the Pixar offerings so I think people will embrace this more than Cars 2 or even Monsters University.

The problem comes in convincing the general public to take the trip to Azeroth.

  • Has The Title To Batman/Superman Been Revealed?

    29878-alex-ross-superman-and-batman-superman-images-gallery_1440x900

Warner Bros. blew away everyone at Comic-Con with their announcement of a Batman/Superman movie in 2015 and now David S. Goyer, the writer for Man of Steel and its huge follow-up, may have given the title to the movie. Speaking at the Superman 75th anniversary panel at Comic-Con, Goyer had this to say:

“So over in Hall H at the Warner Bros.–I guess most people know now–at the end of the Warner Bros. panel, Zack came out and he brought Henry Lennix, who plays General Swanwick in Man of Steel and we–actually, Henry read a bit from [The Dark Knight Returns] and so the next film we’re making, we’re already in pre-production, comes out in summer of 2015 and it’s–we’re actually not sure whether the title is Superman vs.Batman or Batman vs. Superman but yes, it’s–that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that’s happening.”

Maybe it is the purest in me, but I am still wanting it to be called World’s Finest, but any title they give it is fine because they are giving me this movie.
