    Captain-America-The-Winter-Soldier-Sebastian-Stan

I think it is safe to say that Captain America has taken his place behind Iron Man as Marvel’s number two hero. Captain America: The Winter Soldier easily set a new April record with $96.2 million which is $11 million more than Thor: The Dark World opened to last November. The more impressive feat is the $207 million it has earned internationally giving Cap a $303 million gross after only ten days. That is almost half of Thor: The Dark World’s total gross in a week and a half.

The rest of the top ten suffered heavily with Marvel fever on everyone’s minds.

    1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier- $96.2 million/ $96.2 million

    2. Noah- $17.0/ $72.3

    3. Divergent- $13.0/ $114.0

    4. God’s Not Dead- $7.7/ $32.5

    5. The Grand Budapest Hotel- $6.3/ $33.3

    6. Muppets Most Wanted- $6.2/ $42.1

    7. Mr. Peabody & Sherman- $5.3/ $102.2

    8. Sabotage- $1.9/ $8.7

    9. Need For Speed- $1.8/ $40.8

    10. Non-Stop- $1.8/ $88.1

So far, so good for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah. The biblical (but not biblical) epic took in $44 million to finish first. I am sure the audience was divided between Christians who didn’t know what they were getting into and Aronofsky fans that wanted to see how he could top Jared Leto shooting heroin into a gaping hole in his arm.

With Captain America opening next week, we will see if Noah can stay afloat. Sorry, I had a one pun limit for this article.

Frozen had a big weekend. It became the highest grossing animated film of all time passing Toy Story 3. Maybe now people can finally let it go.

    Damn, two puns.

    1. Noah- $44 million/ $44 million

    2. Divergent- $26.5/ $95.2

    3. Muppets Most Wanted- $11.3/ $33.3

    4. Mr. Peabody & Sherman- $9.5/ $94.9

    5. God’s Not Dead- $9.0/ $22.0

    6. The Grand Budapest Hotel- $8.8/ $24.4

    7. Sabotage- $5.3/ $5.3

    8. Need For Speed- $4.3/ $37.7

    9. 300: Rise of an Empire- $4.3/ $101.1

    10. Non-Stop- $4.0/ $85.1

  • First Trailer For Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

    http://youtu.be/nCjsWpM9zFU

Here it is people. Our first look at the (dreaded) Micheal Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

First impression: While I reserve judgment until seeing the final product, this is a mixed bag. I do like the look of the Turtles and what lines they have conveys their signature humor, but I know some will absolutely hate the change in mythology to connect Shredder, April and the Turtles. I still get a feel of Tranformers just with Ninja Turtles.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles releases on August 8th.

  • New Set Photos From Avengers: Age Of Ultron Show Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and More

We are just about a year away from Avengers: Age of Ultron and filming is in full swing.

Here are some shots of Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and what appears to be a pre-CG Ultron looking like Joel Kinnaman as Robocop.

Despite the promo art shown last week it appears that Quicksilver will indeed be sporting his trademark hair. He is already looking leaps and bounds above the X-Men: Days of Future Past take on him. I am also loving the look of Scarlet Witch.

Avengers: Age of Ultron releases on May 1, 2015.

    http://youtu.be/4JZhGYrgCPg

Anyone else wanting The Rock to scream “Haku Machente!”?

Look, I will be honest. This could easily be bad. If it is popcorn movie bad, then it is what I am expecting. I can handle popcorn movie bad.

    What can I not handle?

Brett Ratner bad. Let’s hope he doesn’t Ratner all over this and make it unwatchable.

    Hercules releases on July 25th.

  • New Trailer For X-Men: Days Of Future Past (Hint: It’s Awesome)

    HOLY BALLS.

That was my initial reaction to this newest trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past. The first trailer did a good job of showcasing the characters involved, this is the trailer that goes all out and shows why I am excited Bryan Singer is back with the X-Men franchise.

It almost made me forget how Quicksilver looked in those photos. That is a good trailer.

X-Men: Days of Future Past releases on May 23rd.

  • Weekend Box Office- March 21-23, 2014

    First-jumper-divergent

After plenty of attempts to find the new young adult movie franchise like Twilight and The Hunger Games, we finally have a winner (money wise).

Divergent did not match the original Twilight’s take of $69 million, but its $56 million is impressive and ensures that the book series will continue in theaters.

This left Muppets Most Wanted wanting with only $16.5 million leaving Kermit and company’s fate for future installments in question.

Next week sees the release of Darren Aronofsky’s Noah and then Captain America: The Winter Soldier in two weeks. It is getting harder to tell when the summer movie season begins.

    1. Divergent- $56.0 million/ $56.0 million

    2. Muppets Most Wanted- $16.5/ $16.5

    3. Mr. Peabody & Sherman- $11.7/ $81.0

    4. 300: Rise of an Empire- $8.6/ $93.7

    5. God’s Not Dead- $8.5/ $8.5

    6. Need For Speed- $7.7/ $30.4

    7. The Grand Budapest Hotel- $6.7/ $12.9

    8. Non-Stop- $6.3/ $78.5

    9. The LEGO Movie- $4.1/ $243.3

    10. Single Mom’s Club- $3.1/ $12.9

Harry and Lloyd are coming back to make our lives better. Here are the teaser posters for Dumb and Dumber To that sees Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels re-team with the Farrelly brothers twenty years after all of us were taught what happens when you breed a bulldog and a shih tzu.

  • Final Trailer For The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The final trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is here and it goes mighty big. There is a lot of new footage mixed with what we have seen over the past few trailers including longer looks at the three villains Electro, Green Goblin and Rhino.

I thought The Amazing Spider-Man did a good job of rebooting the series and is the second best Spidey film after Spider-Man 2. It still worries me having so many villains in a Spider-Man film (again). Here is hoping they can pull it off.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 releases on May 2nd.
