In this new video posted by Eurogamer we get a good look at Assassin’s Creed IV’s shark hunting. The more I watch of ACIV and the more I see they are bringing in my favorite parts of [amazon_link id=”B0050SXX88″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Far Cry 3[/amazon_link] it is really going to piss me off even more if this game does not live up to the hype like Assassin’s Creed 3.

I am pretty sure people will be wondering what the hell is going on when they randomly hear me yell “ROY SCHEIDER!!!” every time I harpoon a shark.

If you have already seen Patton Oswalt’s amazing Star Wars filibuster from Parks & Recreation then you will surely be watching this again. If you have not then you are one lucky sumbitch for getting to watch it like this first. Nerdist put this video together for YouTube’s Geek Week and it is a great start to the festivities.

Needless to say that this should get Oswalt a guest star Emmy nomination and put him into the Lucas-Whedon wing of the Nerd Hall of Fame.

  • Warner Bros. Batman Short List Includes Brolin And Gosling?

With Batman/Superman only two years away and David S. Goyer and Zack Snyder hard at work on the script, Warner Bros. is in full on search mode for the next Batman. With the news last week that they were looking for an actor in their 40’s to play the Dark Knight guesses have been coming in fast and furious. Now it appears there is a short list flying around of the possible actors Warner is looking to take on Henry Cavill’s Superman.

Here what’s we got so far according to rumors: Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, True Blood’s Joe Manganiello, The Hobbit’s Richard Armitage, Watchmen’s Matthew Goode and Pacific Rim’s Max Martini.

OK, first off my #1 pick is not on this list and that is Karl Urban, but this doesn’t surprise me since Urban is filming his new TV show Almost Human. Oh well…one can dream.

Josh Brolin is certainly a good choice. He has the look and acting chops down to pull off the role, but at 46 he is on the upper end of the age range and this Batman is going to have to carry over into the Justice League movie. Joe Manganiello is built to be an exact comic book replica of Batman and Richard Armitage probably has my vote out of this entire list of actors.

From this rumored list here are my order of choices:

    1. Richard Armitage

    2. Josh Brolin

    3. Joe Manganiello

    4. Matthew Goode

    5. Max Martini

I left Ryan Gosling off the list because here are my thoughts on the possible casting of him as Batman:

Whoever came up with this idea to merge the Star Trek Animated Series with the voices from Archer are some kind of wizards that should only be spoken about in hushed tones of reverent myths. They are to be applauded and celebrated for the geniuses they are.

And if you have never watched either show…seriously? They are both on Netflix right now. 8 bucks a month or I will let you borrow my copies.

One can never say that Denzel Washington does not have staying power. His new movie, 2 Guns, with Mark Wahlberg took it to The Smurfs 2 bringing in $27.3 million. It is a good start for a film that had a modest budget of just over $60 million. Even though The Smurfs return was not that big stateside, it certainly was around the world. The little blue creatures have already grossed $80 million since their worldwide release last Wednesday.

The Wolverine finished in second with $21.7 million which is a decent drop off. There will almost certainly be a sequel to Logan’s story. In two weeks The Wolverine has taken in almost $250 million worldwide against its $120 million budget.

The Conjuring scared its was past the $100 million mark which shows that good reviews and word of mouth are going a long way.

    1. 2 Guns- $27.3 million/ $27.3 million

    2. The Wolverine- $21.7/ $95.0

    3. The Smurfs 2- $18.2/ $27.7

    4. The Conjuring- $13.6/ $108.5

    5. Despicable Me 2- $10.3/ $326.6

    6. Grown Ups 2- $8.1/ $116.4

    7. Turbo- $6.4/ $69.4

    8. Red 2- $5.6/ $45.1

    9. The Heat- $4.7/ $145.5

    10. Pacific Rim- $4.5/ $92.9

  • Peter Capaldi Is The 12th Doctor

    untitled

The wait is finally over and the 12th Doctor will be Peter Capaldi.

The 55-year old actor will be taking over for Matt Smith whose last appearance will be in the Doctor Who Christmas Special. Capaldi certainly is a departure from the previous few Doctors, but a welcome one. A little less rock star and a little more gravitas. Capaldi was most recently seen in this summer’s World War Z and starred in the BBC comedy series The Thick of It.

What do you think Who fans? Are you excited about the 12th Doctor?

The wait is almost over Doctor Who fans. This Sunday BBC will air a live special announcing who will be taking the place of exiting 11th Doctor, Matt Smith. Smith will be joined by series showrunner Steven Moffat for the announcement of the man or woman who will take over the role.

    Quick question:

If David Tennant is announced to be returning to the role will people be?

    A. Excited.

    B. Disappointed that it is not a new actor.

    C. Wonder why there has not been a female Doctor yet?

Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor will air Sunday, August 4th at 7PM GMT in the U.K. and BBC America will show the announcement live at 2PM EST.

Here are my quick fire guesses…GO!

  • Rumor Control: WB Looking To Cast “Older” Batman For Batman/Superman

Alright here is a new rumor that you should know about when placing your bets on who will get the coveted role of The Caped Crusader in 2015’s Batman/Superman movie. Batman On Film is reporting from multiple sources that Warner Bros. is actively looking for an older “more grizzled” Batman for the Zack Snyder-directed feature set for release in 2015. The age range has been narrowed to actors who are almost or already in their 40’s.

To me this is a bit of good news because it is guaranteed that we will not get any form of Batman origin story again for this movie. It looks like we will be getting a Batman that is already on the job and good at what he does. This makes the dynamic between the two characters much better than two rookie heroes figuring things out as they go. At least one of them will be a veteran who can lead by example.

Let us know who you think would make a great Batman (no matter the age) and we will include it in our fantasy casting article that is coming soon.

And yes, I know Jon Hamm is going to be the overwhelming favorite. I am in the minority on this. I used to be all for it, but over the past year or so I have found other actors I would rather see in the role.

    Who you got?
