  • Playstation Vita Gets In The Holiday Bundle Spirit

Just one day after a new 3DS XL bundle was announced Sony has joined the party with a new Vita offer that doesn’t look too bad.

For $299.99 you will get the 3G/Wi-Fi PS Vita, voucher for the game Unit 13, a 4GB memory card and a one year subscription to Playstation Plus. If you have been waiting on a better deal to get a Vita then I think you won’t find any better than this. A year of PS Plus is $49.99 a year on its own and add in the value of the instant game collection that you receive on both the PS3 and Vita and there really is no reason to wait getting the handheld anymore.

PS Plus was just made available to Vita owners and you can download Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Jet Set Radio, WipEout 2048, Gravity Rush and more for free. So essentially for 300 bucks you are getting a Vita, memory card and seven games right out of the box.

If you already have a PS Plus account on your PS3 then another year will be added to your service when you buy this bundle.

  • X-Men: First Class Sequel Welcomes Old Friends

Director Bryan Singer tweeted some welcome news yesterday and confirmed that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan were both returning to the X-Men franchise as Professor X and Magneto respectively.

While many thought this would happen with the newest X-Men flick being based on Chris Claremont’s classic Days of Future’s Past story it is good to see the director of the first two X-Men flicks get part of the band back together for the movie.

So not only do you have James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender returning but now Stewart and McKellan as well as Singer back directing. How can this possibly not be awesome?

  • 3DS XL Gets New Holiday Bundle

Nintendo has just revealed a new holiday bundle for the 3DS XL that will include Mario Kart 7 installed on the system. The midnight blue 3DS XL will be released on December 2nd and retail for only $199.99. If you haven’t picked up a 3DS yet or were looking to upgrade to an XL this is a good bundle. Mario Kart is still one of the best games released on the system so far.

  • Ready For More Dishonored? Bethesda Is.

New Hit Has Publisher Seeing Dollar Signs.

In an interview with Destructoid Bethesda’s Pete Hines said that the game’s sales were above what the company had projected and it now appears they have a new franchise on their hands.

“I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter. We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas. So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise.”

Have you played Dishonored yet? If so, are you excited that the title appears to be getting sequels in the future?

Check out our review of Dishonored here to see what we thought of the game.

  • Nintendo Wii Mini Is A Reality….In Canada

    Oh Canada.

Continuing in the tradition of shrinking their consoles down in size to keep people interested in the product (i.e. NES 2 & SNES) Nintendo has put their shrink ray on the Wii.

The aptly names Wii Mini will release on December 7th and retail for only $99 but for right now there seems to be a catch. The Wii Mini will only be available in Canada (maybe the reason for the red design?) and there is no news on if Nintendo will be releasing the console in other territories. The system will come with a red Wii Remote and Nunchuk and will play all Wii titles but will not come with Internet capabilities or have the ability to play Gamecube games.

So chin up Canada, you are the lucky owners of a new Wii. True patriot love indeed.

  • Wii U Shows Strong First Week Sales

Nintendo’s sixth home console is off to a strong start but not quite the sales that its predecessor saw.

Reports are that Nintendo sold approximately 400,000 Wii U consoles in its first week of release. That is a strong start but not as big as the Wii’s release which saw 600,000 units sold back in 2006.

It was an all around great sales week for anything Nintendo in general. Along with the Wii U’s sales, Nintendo announced that almost 300,000 Wii’s, 275,000 DS systems and 250,000 3DS systems were sold in the same week.

Only time will tell if the Wii U is truly a hit with sales always spiking at launch and during the holiday season.

  • Will Next Xbox Have Two Very Different Versions?

More Than Hard Drives Could Seperate The Two.

Rumors abound that Microsoft is planning on releasing two vastly different console experiences next year in order to get into more living rooms of casual gamers.

When the Xbox 360 released in November 2005 the console was released in two versions (Pro and Core) in which the main difference was an attached hard drive on the Pro but it appears that when the new console is released next year one will be the true next generation console experience with all the bells and whistles that Microsoft decides to put inside while the other sku would be more of an set-top box experience that will run on Windows 8 and run as as DVR and be able to play more casual games and run apps.

While that sounds all well and good for Microsoft in their plan of getting into more casual gaming houses I can already see the headache of brick and mortar store employees having to explain to parents in the holiday season the differences in the two consoles. Not to mention the look on kids faces if they end up getting what will basically be a Microsoft TV box for Christmas.

  • Netflix And Hulu Plus Up And Running On Wii U

Delay Not As Long As Expected.

Well that certainly didn’t take long.

It was announced by Nintendo last week that many of their streaming apps would be delayed and the way it was worded one would think that you would be waiting a few weeks before you could start watching your content on Netflix or Hulu Plus.

It seems someone got on the ball and fixed whatever problems the apps were having quickly because as of right now both services are up and ready for people to watch shows or movies on their television or Gamepad.

No word yet on when the Nintendo TVii feature will be ready but Nintendo has said sometime in December.
