Deep Silver is looking to make some money off of their $22 million dollar acquisition of Volition sooner rather than later. They have officially announced that Saint’s Row IV will release on August 20th, a full month before Grand Theft Auto V.

The company has said that the previously announced DLC for Saint’s Row The Third, “Enter the Dominatrix”, will be rolled into Saint’s Row IV.

Going bigger and weirder (if that is possible) than ever, Saint’s Row IV has the leader of the Saints becoming the President of the United States and has you fighting against an alien force looking to take over the planet. It basically sounds like thy took another one of my favorite THQ franchises, Destroy All Humans, and brings it into the purple dildo wielding world of Saint’s Row.

  • Thanos Is Set To Be Batista Bombed

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has found its second member. Chris Pratt was cast a few weeks back as Peter Quill, the Star-Lord and now ex-WWE wrestler Dave Bautista is going to play Drax the Destroyer. Drax is a human that was given another body with special powers to take revenge on Thanos. With the movie’s budget I can be pretty sure that they will not just paint him green like an Orion slave girl from Star Trek.

One interesting thought I just had. How rather odd would it be that Dave Bautista could see his star in Hollywood rise to the same level that The Rock has been working on for ten years after just one Marvel movie?

  • Ouya Founder Says It Can Play Current Hits, But Won’t

Ouya is going to be getting into the hands of Kickstarter backers on March 28th and consumers in June and founder Julie Uhrman is making the rounds hyping up the $99 Android-based console. At a SXSW panel she was asked if the console would be able to play current console blockbusters and she had an interesting response.

“Yes, and why would we? Those experiences are great on those devices. You wouldn’t want to play those games anywhere else. But we are going to have exclusive games. … We’re going to have inventive, creative, exciting content that no one else has. At $99, it’s not an either-or decision.”

Uhrman is really sticking to her guns about keeping Ouya a unique console experience. While on the one hand, it would be great to have a $99 console that you could play Mass Effect 3 on, trying to separate yourself from any competitors could be a gamble that pays off. The entire history of the Ouya has been a gamble and so far, so good.

  • Screenwriter Damon Lindelof Discusses Star Trek Into Darkness Villain Secrecy

In an interview with the L.A. Times Hero Complex, Damon Lindelof gave the reason why he thinks it is so important that audiences stay in the dark about who exactly Benedict Cumberbatch is playing in this summer’s Star Trek Into Darkness.

“The audience needs to have the same experience that the crew is having. You’re Kirk, you’re Spock, you’re McCoy, so if they don’t know who the bad guy is going to be in the movie, then you shouldn’t know. It’s not just keeping the secret for secrecy’s sake. It’s not giving the audience information that the characters don’t have.”

Well you certainly can’t fault him for that reasoning. I think many people are assuming that Cumberbatch will be playing Khan and I am certainly one of those. I am afraid that some have made such a huge deal out of this that no matter who he ends up being they will be disappointed. If he is Khan, you will have the Ricardo Montalban bandwagon crying foul and if he is a new villain, you will have a group that is pissed off that there Khan guess was wrong.

I applaud the studio and actors for being able to keep the role a secret for this long. Mystery is the spice of life. Or is that cumin?

  • New Epic Rap Battle Let’s Tesla Get His Revenge

The guys at Epic Rap Battle are letting two giants in the world of invention a chance to verbally abuse each other. Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla make their cases why they were the greater inventor, even though Edison is remembered more fondly and famously. You see, Edison promised Tesla a huge payment for his work and then gave him the shaft.

Yeah, go read about it. Edison was a huge dickbag.

  • Pitch In And Kickstart A Veronica Mars Movie!

Let’s all play a game kids. It’s called “How Fast Can A Veronica Mars Movie Get Kickstarted?”

Veronica Mars was one of the most fun and intelligent shows of the past decade. It was cancelled five years ago by the CW who airs shows like Beauty and the Beast and….is One Tree Hill still on? I don’t know. But things are looking up Mars fans! Series creator Rob Thomas has started a Kickstarter for a long rumored movie that would bring back the beautiful super sleuth. Kristen Bell is fully on board and ready to get to work also. So if you are a fan go and throw them a couple of bucks to show your support.

I think it is safe to say that this will easily hit its goal. They are needing $2 million dollars to get started and in the time it has taken me to write this piece it has already grown from $934,000 to…..(let me see)….over $1,004,000 with 30 days left. This may be a Kickstarter record in the making.

Check out the official Kickstarter page here to read a message from Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell about bringing Veronica Mars back.

  • Red Band Trailer For Kick Ass 2

    http://youtu.be/7gIBSbchF3Y

I may complain about a whole lot of things, but when we live in a world that can actually give us Kick Ass 2 it can’t be all bad right? Except for the rampant murder, poverty and basic denial of human rights in places. Still…..It’s Kick Ass 2!!!

Dave Lizewski and Mindy Macready’s exploits as Kick Ass and Hit Girl have spurred citizens to take up costumes of their own and fight crime including Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes. But all is not well when the Red Mist morphs himself into The Motherfu**er and plans to take down all the heroes.

In case you didn’t read the title too well, a reminder that the trailer is a red band, so there is blood and a lot of words that will make your mother blush unless you had the kind of mother that smoked cigarettes and said stuff like that to you all the time. Was she a stripper? Did she love you enough when you were a child?

Kick Ass 2 releases in August.

  • Is Miyamoto Concerned About The Wii U’s Performance?

Shigeru Miyamoto told The New York Times that he knows the Wii U is not exactly lighting the sales charts on fire right now, but he is confident on the system’s future.

“Certainly in the short term I would want to see it performing with probably a little more momentum. I think in the long term I’m not at a point where I’m concerned yet.”

If anything, Nintendo is known for their ability to keep support for their hardware going even through rough sales and Miyamoto still feels that the Wii U can be the entertainment hub of everyone’s living room.

“I think that the Wii U still has a long future. We really view it as being the ideal device that families are going to want to have connected to that screen in the living room that everyone is going to gather around and watch.”

I have no doubt that the Wii U will be around for a while no matter what the sales numbers look like. Nintendo only sold 57,000 Wii U’s in January and 80,000 in February, but there is still ample time to turn this around. E3 is right around the corner and they have promised that Smash Bros. and the new 3D Mario will be shown. I think Nintendo is a big price drop and a solid holiday list of games away from being back in the equation. Just look at the 3DS for example.
