  • Zombi U Launch Trailer Seems Familiar

Where’s Woody Harrelson When You Need Him?

The Zombi U launch trailer is here and should be quite familiar to zombie fans.

Yep, there is quite the Zombieland feel to it with the rules of Zombi U being given in a very Jesse Eisenberg way. While some may role their eyes at it I actually got into it and can’t fault the makers for wanting to give gamers a good sense of what is to come by using something recognizable like Zombieland.

I will say that I do like their rules better than the movie. Being of ample girth I never made it past the first rule.

    Cardio. Cardio. Cardio.

Zombi U is available on November 18th for the Wii U launch.

  • World War Z Trailer

Brad Pitt vs. Zombies….Who Ya Got?

The first trailer for the adaptation of Max Brooks’ bestselling novel World War Z has surfaced and it appears to deliver on the “zombie” and “apocalypse” part of the book.

The production has had its share of problems from hiring Drew Goddard to rewrite the last third of the film (during production) to the cast having to go back for months of re-shoots. The film was originally intended to open up this December but was delayed to June 2013.

Take a look below and let us know what you think? Does it look like good summer movie fare or more of what we’ve seen from all the zombie programming we have today?

  • Dead Island: Riptide Release Date Announced

Get Ready For More Zombie Action Next Spring.

Developer Deep Silver has announced today that the sequel to the best selling game Dead Island will release on April 23, 2013.

Dead Island: Riptide will have two special editions available at launch. The Pre-Order Edition is available to pre-order now (hence the name) and will give players a new set of mods for their weapons. The specific mods have not been announced yet. The second special is the Special Retailers Edition which will have a special character skin and packshot. It will be available at only certain retailers which have not been named yet.

Sounds like Deep Silver is making available to all players what every game does now and calling it special editions. What do you think?

Let’s All Get Ready For The Rise Of The Governor.

The long wait is almost over. Season 3 of AMC’s The Walking Dead will premiere Sunday night and we can not wait just like you. This season is actually the one that should really be special especially if you are caught up on the comics and know what is to come mainly because the show is beginning to steer farther away from the source material so there is a great feeling of “I think I know what’s coming, but do I really?”.

To get ready for the big show we here at Nerd Rating want to give you a “Walking Dead Preparedness Kit”. Everything a fan will need to get caught up on Rick Grimes and his not so merry group of survivors.

    Viva Atlanta!!

Play your own version of The Walking Dead with the official toy line by McFarlane Toys. There are two separate sets out there depending on which characters you love more, the comics or the television show. Series One of the comic figures includes Rick, Michonne and two variations of zombies, Series One of the show figures have Rick, Daryl and two zombies as well. Series Two of the show has just been announced and will have Shane (shown above), Rick, the zombie in the well and the screwdriver in the eye zombie from Season 2.

    Zombie Survival Kit

What better way to get ready for the new season of The Walking Dead than actually getting ready for the coming zombie apocalypse! This handy drawstring bag gives you everything you would need for a good head start when everything goes to hell in a hand basket. I mean at first $80 may seem steep but can you really put a price on safety? And did I mention the awesome tomahawk that comes with it?!

    Funny The Walking Dead Shirts

Yes, zombies have become a fad and you see a lot of people with The Walking Dead shirts and zombie shirts in general but let’s face it, it’s better than seeing all of those Team Edward and Team Jacob shirts. So let’s fight against that evil with an evil we can support and love and be proud of.

Everyone enjoy the Season 3 premiere of The Walking Dead on Sunday night unless you have Dish Network.

In that case I hope you have friends.

  • New Game Releases. Week Of September 30, 2012.

Skeleton Bunnies, Zombies and LeBron. Oh My.

    Resident Evil 6 (360, PS3) $59.99

Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorite games of all time then Resident Evil 5 came along and completely turned me off of the series. Now the sixth installment is here and I can tell you from playing the demo that a lot of things have been fixed. Three separating storylines taking place across the globe is quite ambitious for the franchise but it just may pay off.

    NBA 2K13 (360, PS3, PC, Wii, PSP) $29.99-59.99

It has been a long wait for a basketball game for this fan. The 2K series has never been my cup of beer even with glittering reviews every year. Now EA has cancelled NBA Live…..again and I may be left without a b-ball game again this year. But this year’s 2K has changed the control scheme to give a more arcade feel with the use of the right dribble stick so here’s hoping I will finally get to play this year.

Hell Yeah: Wrath of the Dead Rabbit (PC, PSN, XBLA) $14.99

Reviews for this game have been all over the place from ” a wonderful side-scroller” to “stay the hell away”. Both sides seem to agree that is has a great look and art style so it is really a toss up if you want to give this game about a skeletal bunny’s revenge a try.

Next week is a big one with the releases of Dishonored, the return of XCOM and the Kinect only Fable: The Journey.

  • An Elegant Weapon For A Less Civilized Age.

You Know It’s Coming. Might As Well Prepare.

For those of you that believe that the zombie invasion is only a matter of when not if, may I present to you the M48 Apocalypse Series axe. One side business and the other side pleasure. An 8″ axe blade with a handy spike on the other end for those moments when a gun is too loud and a screwdriver isn’t handy.

Do you still have leftover candle stockpiles from Y2K? Then this may be the weapon of choice for you. Go pick it up over on ThinkGeek

In another related story. I want one.

  • Rick Plays “Mine’s Bigger” In The New Walking Dead Poster.

Here is the final poster for the upcoming third season of AMC’s The Walking Dead. While last year’s poster got fans excited to see Rick running towards Herschel’s farm, this offering is giving fans a shot of Rick in front of the prison which many people (me included) have been waiting on since the series started. And if you are not caught up on The Walking Dead comics or just watch the show exclusively then you really have no idea how appropriate the tagline for this season is.

Season 3 of The Walking Dead premieres October 14. Just in case you didn’t read the poster.

  • Dead Island: Riptide Confirms Our Worst Fears. Zombies Can Swim.

Deep Silver has released the first images from their follow up to 2011’s Dead Island.

Called Dead Island: Riptide the game sees the four survivors from the first game caught in a monsoon that wrecks their rescue vessel and strands them back on the island they thought was in their rearviews. Now if that sounds like a bit of a cop out for a sequel the developers are the first to tell you that this is not a sequel to Dead Island. It is a full game but it is more of a massive full game add on to Dead Island.

That’s not to say that you will just be able to run around the island you knew. The monsoon has completely change the layout and environment of the land. This gives you a chance to play in the new weather system in the game’s engine. Weather will adversely affect what you are doing with flood areas and boat missions complete with swimming zombies. If zombies really can swim there is nothing we can do!!

Also there will be a bit of tower defense action going on with defense missions where players will have to build fencing areas, place turrets and set traps for oncoming zombie hordes. Check out the new images below.

Dead Island: Riptide will release sometime in 2013 and has already been announced to have a $50 price tag.

  • State Of Decay Brings Zombie Killing Into The Open World

The game formerly known as Class3 now has an official title. Undead Labs has announced that State of Decay will be coming to Xbox LIVE and PC.

I know, I know some of you are thinking that zombies are on overkill right now but at least Undead seems to be trying something new by bringing the zombie apocolypse into an open world game that is completely shaped by your actions. Dead Island found great success last year and I think the market is ripe for State of Decay to do well.

No release date has been announced for State of Decay but one would venture we won’t be seeing it until next year. Until then, here is the first trailer for the game.
