  • Ryse: Son Of Rome Shows It Is More Than Just QTE’s

Ever since its debut at E3, Ryse: Son of Rome has been trying to convince people that there is more depth to their game than a lot of pretty QTE events. With each new showing they are showing more of the hack and slash combat that makes up the majority of the gameplay. This video gives a look at how the developers worked on the free flow combat and counter controls for the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVMI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link] title.

The game has many doubters and I am sure this video will not sway their thinking, but Ryse is still high up on my list of next-gen launch titles that I am eager to play. There is no doubt that the game looks gorgeous. Maybe it can surprise a few people.

  • Lords Of The Fallen Trailer Is Quite Pretty

    11829-offsite_resizing_lords_of_the_fallen

Lords of the Fallen is a new fantasy RPG for the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVQO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Playstation 4[/amazon_link] and [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVMI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link]. It is being developed by Deck13 and published by CI Games.

The first trailer for the game was shown at Gamescom and is being shown at PAX this week also. It does have a certain Warcraft look to it. Any new RPG being developed for next-gen instantly has me interested.

No release date has been given for Lords of the Fallen.

  • Season 2 Of Killer Instinct Will Come To Xbox One In 2014

For those of you, like me, that are a bit disappointed that Killer Instinct will be launching on the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVMI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link] with only six fighters, worry not, more are on the way.

Season 2 of the game will release in 2014 and offer a new set of characters. Seasons will continue to be released on a regular basis continually adding to the character roster.

Killer Instinct is being released for the Xbox One at launch as a free title. Jago will be free for everyone to play. Additional fighters will be available for purchase for $4.99 or you can buy one of two packs that will give you every fighter and different bonus content for $19.99 and $39.99.

  • Gamestop Managers Will Get Free Playstation 4 And Xbox One

It was announced at the Gamestop Expo in Las Vegas that all Gamestop managers would be receiving a [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVQO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Playstation 4[/amazon_link] and seven games as well as an [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVMI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link].

Personal note: What the fu**? If you are a Gamestop manager it is so great you are getting both consoles. I am happy for you. I guess I just missed the truck full of goodwill from Sony and Microsoft. When I managed an EB Games eight years ago I was lucky to get a nice lanyard from Sony or some Xbox pens. Hell, it was like Christmas morning when Nintendo would throw a free DS game your way.

  • Want A White Xbox One? Get A Job (With Microsoft)

It looks like employees of Microsoft are getting an extra special [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVMI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link] as a thank you from their paycheck overlords. An all white console and controller with a black Kinect, because f*** your OCD, and a list of other goodies sweeten the pot for being a loyal worker.

This has not been confirmed by Microsoft. If anyone working there wants to verify this, feel free…unless it will get you fired in which case, nevermind.

  • Xbox One Will Never Be Sold Without Kinect

Are you hoping for an Xbox One bundled without the Kinect to save yourself a bit of money? Well, keep hoping because according to Microsoft that is not going to happen.

Xbox Executive Phil Spencer, in a recent interview with CVG, said that the Kinect sensor and the Xbox One, while being two separate pieces, are part of a whole that will not be broken up.

“Correct. Xbox One is Kinect. They are not separate systems. An Xbox One has chips, it has memory, it has Blu-ray, it has Kinect, it has a controller. These are all part of the platform ecosystem.

What we have shown really well at Gamescom is the magic of games that use Kinect. We have shown the power of voice control. I’m probably going to piss off your readers unintentionally when I say this; I have an Xbox One at home, and being able to walk in and say “Xbox on”, and for the system to recognise me, launch and load my profile, and put my choices of content on the font page is a very magical experience. It makes you think about your relationship with technology in a slightly different way. It’s personal. It makes you think, I wish more devices would do this.”

It is easy to see why Microsoft wants to keep the Kinect such an integral part of the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVMI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link], although I have to think if the Xbox One does not start off as well as Microsoft wants if the story won’t change sometime next year.

  • Ryse: Son Of Rome Gladiator Mode Trailer. Bring Your Friends For The Fun.

Ryse: Son of Rome showed off its new Gladiator mode at this weeks Gamescom. You and a friend will join forces to take on waves of enemies inside an ever changing arena that puts different backdrops and enemy types in your way. You must keep the crowd entertained as you try and survive and fight for glory.

People have been putting down this game since E3 when it looked like a QTE-fest, but reports out of Gamescom are that the new demo showed off much deeper hack and slash gameplay that has brought new excitement to the title. It is certainly one of the games I am picking up on launch day for the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVMI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link].

    Watch the trailer below.

  • The Titanfall Gamescom Trailer Almost Makes The Xbox One An Easy Sell

Titanfall already blew everyone away at E3 winning the majority of the “best of show” awards there were to give out. I don’t even play multiplayer shooters that much and it had me trying to figure out how much I could get for a kidney to buy an [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVMI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link].

Now we have a new gameplay trailer for Gamescom showing what Respawn is calling Attrition mode featuring more jetpack wall jumps and mech action than you can shake $500 dollars at. And guess what? $500 is what you are gonna have to shake because [amazon_link id=”B00DB9JYFY” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Titanfall[/amazon_link] is an Xbox One exclusive.

  • Here Is How Much You Will Be Paying For The New Killer Instinct

When you unbox your fancy new [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVMI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link] this fall you will be able to download the new Killer Instinct for free. You will be able to play as Jago as much as you want and not spend a penny. But do you really only want to play as Jago? C’mon.

Each additional character on the roster will run you $4.99 a pop or you can purchase the Combo Breaker pack for $19.99 and get the six characters available at launch, two post-launch characters and the original Killer Instinct arcade game. For those KI nuts (like me) that want even more there is the Ultra Edition. This will set you back $34.99 and gives you the six launch characters, two post-launch characters, original KI arcade game, extra costumes and accessory packs.

The individual pricing model is a new direction for a fighter, but really who would buy them for $4.99 when you can get them all for $19.99?

Killer Instinct will release this fall.
