  • Has The Title To Batman/Superman Been Revealed?

Warner Bros. blew away everyone at Comic-Con with their announcement of a Batman/Superman movie in 2015 and now David S. Goyer, the writer for Man of Steel and its huge follow-up, may have given the title to the movie. Speaking at the Superman 75th anniversary panel at Comic-Con, Goyer had this to say:

“So over in Hall H at the Warner Bros.–I guess most people know now–at the end of the Warner Bros. panel, Zack came out and he brought Henry Lennix, who plays General Swanwick in Man of Steel and we–actually, Henry read a bit from [The Dark Knight Returns] and so the next film we’re making, we’re already in pre-production, comes out in summer of 2015 and it’s–we’re actually not sure whether the title is Superman vs.Batman or Batman vs. Superman but yes, it’s–that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that’s happening.”

Maybe it is the purest in me, but I am still wanting it to be called World’s Finest, but any title they give it is fine because they are giving me this movie.

  • Batman/Superman Movie Official For 2015!!!

    worlds-finest_comic-art_topslice

Marvel’s Comic-Con panel isn’t until tonight, but Warner Bros. may have just won Comic-Con with their HUGE announcement today.

Their two greatest heroes, Batman and Superman, will be heading to the big screen together in the summer of 2015. Zack Snyder will return to direct with a script by Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer. Christopher Nolan will serve as executive producer and presumably head up the entire project. Henry Cavill will return as Superman and a search will begin for a new Batman.

Snyder surprised everyone by showing up at the Comic-Con panel and had an excerpt from The Dark Knight Returns read and the Superman logo was shown on screen then a new Batman logo appeared behind it.

    NERD FEELS….EVERYWHERE!!

On the heels of this big event, it is also being rumored that Warner is prepping a Flash movie for 2016 which will lead into a 2017 Justice League film.

Here is the official statement from Warner Bros. on the massive team-up of the two biggest superheroes in the world:

On the heels of the worldwide success of Man of Steel, director Zack Snyder is bringing together the two greatest Super Heroes of all time —Batman and Superman —for the first time on the big screen.  The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution,Warner Bros. Pictures.

The current hit, Man of Steel, has taken in more than $630 million at the worldwide box office to date, and climbing.  Along with its star, Henry Cavill, the upcoming film brings back Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.  The new Batman has yet to be cast.

Snyder is co-writing the story with David S. Goyer, who will then pen the screenplay.  Production is expected to begin in 2014, with an anticipated release date in Summer 2015.”

  • First Poster For The Hangover Part III

One of the biggest summer movies has been curiously absent from all the poster and trailer hooplah and that is The Hangover Part III. We have seen trailers for Iron Man, Fast & Furious 6 and Man of Steel, but not so much as a peep from the third film involving The Wolfpack.

    Until today.

Warner Bros. has released the first poster which shows Zack Galifianakis as Alan and Ken Jeongs as Mr. Chow in a tense stare down with a burning Las Vegas in the background.

I like this. It is playing up the big summer movie spectacle of explosions and flying debris with odd lighting that is the staple of action movies today. Hopefully the third time will be the charm. While I laughed at the second movie, a second watching proved just how much of a retread of the first flick it was.

The Hangover Part III opens on Memorial Day where it will take on The Rock and Vin Diesel in Fast & Furious 6.

  • The Hobbit: There And Back Again Delayed

It appears that Bilbo, Gandalf and company have been scared off by the X-Men.

Warner Bros. have delayed Peter Jackson’s third (necessary?) film of The Hobbit from July 18, 2014 to December 17, 2014. The July date was also the opening of Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future’s Past which is turning into way more than just a sequel to First Class. It is becoming an X-Men all-star movie starring almost every character from the entire franchise.

With The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey closing in on one billion dollars, the move to December should not hurt its box office, even taking it out of a prime summer slot. As of right now the third Hobbit movie will open up in December 2014 unopposed. Much better than fighting with Professor X for moviegoers wallets.

Mortal Kombat Legacy was a big success in 2011 for director Kevin Tancharoen. Big enough that Warner Bros. not only gave him a chance for a second season of the show but also the directing job for a new Mortal Kombat feature film. Now Season 2 of Mortal Kombat Legacy is almost upon us and here is the first trailer.

A lot of new additions have been made for Season 2 both in characters and actors. Ermac, Stryker and more will be joining the series and some roles will be filled by new actors most notably Johnny Rico himself Casper Van Dien as Johnny Cage and Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa reprising his role of Shang Tsung from the first Mortal Kombat film.

There will be ten episodes of Mortal Kombat Legacy Season 2 and each will average around eight minutes in length. The series can be seen on Machinima.com.

  • Zack Snyder Is Developing A New Star Wars Movie (UPDATED: Maybe Not)

    NE3Nz7348GEM65_1_1

So I will just let that title soak in for a second……………………………………………….

Yes, you read that correct. Vulture is reporting that the director of 300, Watchmen and this summer’s Superman reboot, Man of Steel, is indeed hard at work developing a Star Wars movie that will not be a part of the planned trilogy from Disney. The report claims that it will be a stand alone film and may run parallel to the new trilogy. The report goes on to describe the movie:

It will be an as-yet-untitled Jedi epic loosely based on Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic Seven Samurai, with the ronin and katana being replaced by the Force-wielding knights and their iconic lightsabers.”

Disney has already stated that there would be more Star Wars films past the new trilogy, but it is a little weird that we seem to know a bit more about this stand alone Star Wars movie than the new trilogy which is set for release in the summer of 2015.

Many fans may gripe at this with their deep hatred of Zack Snyder, but I will remain optimistic in this early going. It is more Star Wars so that’s a good thing and nothing could possibly be worse than Episode 1…..right? And at least it will look pretty.

    UPDATE:

Zack Snyder’s spokesman has gone on record saying that the director is not involved with any Star Wars film.

“While he is super flattered because he is a huge fan, Zack is not involved in any way with the new Star Wars. He is currently in post on his two films, Man of Steel and 300: Battle of Artemisia.”

Of course, denials in Hollywood are nothing new so take this statement with a grain of salt. If Disney has locked up Snyder for a stand-alone Star Wars film and Man of Steel hits it big this summer that will leave Warner Bros. in a bit of a bind if they wanted Snyder to return foe a sequel.

  • Marvel Super Heroes Get A Lego Game Of Their Own

    lego-marvel-super-heroes

Lego’s reach is indeed very, very long. Warner Bros. Games has announced that the Marvel superheroes will be starring in their own video game. Traveller’s Tales will be handling the game as usual. They have already developed the Lego games for Star Wars, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean and Batman (including the amazing Lego Batman 2).

The game will see the Marvel heroes teaming up to try and defeat the evil team of Loki and Galactus, who kind of likes to destroy worlds. There will be over 100 playable characters in the game including the likes of Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Deadpool, the Fantastic Four and even the Guardians of the Galaxy (movie hype begins here).

[amazon_link id=”B006ZPAYGE” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Lego Batman 2[/amazon_link] was one of the most fun games I played last year so I can not contain my Lego excitement at the chance of playing as Marvel characters.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes will release this fall on every home and handheld console imaginable.

  • New Man Of Steel Poster

Not to be outdone by the Star Trek Into Darkness poster that was revealed this morning, Warner Bros. has revealed the newest poster for Superman’s return to the big screen, Man of Steel.

Directed by Zack Snyder and produced by Christopher “DC movie godfather” Nolan, Man of Steel may (or may not, who knows) be an official beginning of a Justice League movie. Little is known about the film plot wise but a new trailer is set to screen in front of The Hobbit in a few weeks.

The poster is very different from what I was expecting with Superman being handcuffed (voluntarily I would assume) and being followed by military officials. Since we know so little about the movie this poster just adds to the mystery of what will lead to this point. So as a marketing tool I think Warner got it right here.

What do you think about it? Are you looking forward to Superman’s return to the big screen?

Man of Steel releases on June 14, 2013.

  • The Dark Knight Rises Trilogy Collections Revealed

The Dark Knight Rises Collector’s Edition Also Announced.

Warner Bros. has already announced that the final film in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy would be coming home on December 3rd and they have just revealed the packaging for the movie as well as unveiling the collector’s edition of The Dark Knight Rises and that they will be releasing all three Bat films in a trilogy box set.

No price or list of special features has been announced yet. Both trilogy collections are shown with The Art and Making of The Dark Knight Trilogy book. It has not been announced if the book will be coming with the box set but I can say from owning it that it is a large high quality book that chronicles all of the three movies very well and is worth a buy.
