Sony San Diego has announced that MLB 14 will release on April 1st on PS3 and Vita and see a PS4 release a month later in May. The real kicker here is the new screenshots that were shown from the PS4 version which should be met with proper use of profanity to show just how impressive the first next-gen baseball title looks.
The studio is promising over 50 new features and improvements including “quick counts” which will speed up game completion time by 50%.
Sony San Diego is promising even more looks at the game in the coming weeks but until then stare at these beautiful shots with your eye holes, starting with a comparison of Boston Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli between the PS3 and PS4. The PS3 has always looked beautiful visually, but when put next to the next-gen version, the gap is clear.
Ready to take the likes of Salvador and Claptrap on the road? Gearbox has announced that Borderland 2 is coming to the Vita this spring and Sony has followed suit by offering a bundle that includes the new Vita “Slim”, Borderlands 2 and an 8GB memory card for only $199.99.
The game will come with 6 DLC packs already on the card including: Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty, Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, Psycho Character Class, Mechromancer Character Class, Collector’s Edition Pack and Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1.
The best part about Borderlands getting a portable release is that it will feature cross-save with your PS3 version.
You can reserve the bundle now on [amazon_link id=”B00HLT0YT0″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Amazon[/amazon_link].
With tomorrow’s big release of [amazon_link id=”B00C7103DO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Batman: Arkham Origins[/amazon_link] lets not forget that there is a handheld version coming to 3DS and Vita. Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate is a 2.5D game in the make of Metroid.
This ten minute video has a good look at the gameplay and how your bat-skills will be implemented on the small screen.

Taking on Apple TV, Ouya and other Android based boxes at the same time is not an easy thing to do, but Sony is going for the win with the PS Vita TV. The small (6x10cm) box that will play PS Vita games, connect to the PS Network to play PSP and PS1 classics as well as connect to TV based services like Hulu and NicoNico Douga (in Japan). You can also use Sony’s great Twitter app.
The box has a slot for Vita games, memory cards, HDMI output, Ethernet ports and USB ports.
Not all Vita games will be available for play due to the various features the Vita utilizes like the touch screen, but over 100 Vita titles will be available.
The device can also be used to connect to the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVQO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Playstation 4[/amazon_link] for remote play when your console is not in the room with you. Am I the only one that thinks this is pure brilliance? If my PS4 is hooked up in my living room and I want to play it in my bedroom with my PS Vita TV in there I can just remote connect to the console? Nice.
PS Vita TV releases on November 14th in Japan for $100. A set that comes with a Dualshock 3 controller will cost $150. There is no worldwide release information.
Only one week remains until you can get your hands on what looks like the Vita’s first great shooter, [amazon_link id=”B0050SWYTC” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Killzone: Mercenary[/amazon_link]. I hope it can deliver in bringing a true console quality experience to first-person shooters on the Vita.
For you trophy addicts here is the list of the 53 trophies that will have you busy on Sony’s handheld beginning next week.
Bronze
-Aces High – Attain an ace Valor card ranking.

With all the excitement for [amazon_link id=”B00C7103DO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Batman: Arkham Origins[/amazon_link] it is easy to forget that there is a handheld version coming out for the 3DS and Vita.
Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate is a 2.5D adventure that will take Batman through Gotham’s maximum security prison during a breakout involving The Joker, Penguin and more. I am getting both games at release and will be interested to see how they connect together story wise as well as if the combat can be transferred over to a handheld.
Look at the new trailer below. [amazon_link id=”B00C7103C0″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate[/amazon_link] releases on October 25th.
The Playstation Vita will finally be getting a price drop to $199 as of……now. Also the price of the memory cards will see a sizable reduction. For people that have been considering buying a Vita, that is what we call a win/win. For those of us with [amazon_link id=”B003O6EATE” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Vita’s[/amazon_link]…just a win, but a good one.
According to a leaked Target ad, the retailer will be selling both PS Vita sets for $199 during the week of August 18-24th. That is a savings of $50 for the WiFi version and a very helpful $100 off the 3G/WiFi version. Whether this is a Target only sale or the indication of a Vita price cut is not know, but either way if you have been looking for a good time to pick up Sony’s portable this may be it.
I love my Vita and have not regretted buying it once in the year and a half I have had it. The library is ridiculously big and add in the collection of free games when you are a PS Plus member and the value is undeniable.
It is time to spend the rest of any money you have lingering around in your Playstation Store account. For the next two weeks Sony is having their Summer Blast Sale where a host of PS3 and Vita titles will be discounted and PS+ members will get even cheaper deals because as I have said at least a hundred times, PS+ is the best deal going in console gaming right now.
There is a great lineup of newer titles on sale as well as lots for under ten bucks. The sale begins tomorrow, July 2nd and runs through July 15th.
