  • The Elder Scrolls Online Website Officially Launches

Take An Extensive Look At Tamriel

Bethesda has launched the website for The Elder Scrolls Online today. You can learn about the back story of Tamriel, ask the developers questions and even take a look at a wealth of game concept art and videos. There are in-game shots as well as custom wallpapers to search through. It is an impressive start for a game that is still most likely a year away from launching.

Will you be paying a monthly charge for The Elder Scrolls Online or will Bethesda take the free-to-play approach that most MMO’s are swapping to? Only time will tell. Until then go and enjoy the large amount of Elder Scrolls goodness on the site.

  • Nintendo Shows Off Their 3DS Lineup

Monster Hunter, Fire Emblem Among The Big Names.

Nintendo held a direct stream broadcast this morning from Japan and chief among the items talked about was the upcoming games for the 3DS. The Big N released a video showcasing what all the system has to offer for the holidays and into 2013.

There are a lot of big franchises that fans have been waiting to play including: Fire Emble, Monster Hunter, Castlevania and Luigi’s Mansion. If you are wondering what the difference is between this sizzle reel and one that would theoretically exist for the Vita, this two minute video runs around a minute and a half longer than the Vita one would.

  • Mass Effect Movie Gets A New Screenwriter

Legendary Pictures Still Has Faith In Film Adaptation.

Legendary Pictures purchased the rights to a Mass Effect film way back in 2008 but like most video game to movie adaptations it has become stuck in the well known “development hell”. Things seemed to be heading in the right direction when screenwriter Mark Protosevich, who had written the story for Thor and the screenplay for I Am Legend, was brought in to write a script.  Now it appears that his draft of the script is being scrapped and a new screenwriter is being brought in.

Morgan Davis Foehl, who has worked as an assistant on Rescue Me and the Adam Sandler movie I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, has been brought on to start the script from scratch. Foehl is a big Mass Effect fan and the studio has liked some of his other action movie scripts which may have helped in him getting a high profile gig such as this.

This can not be an easy script to tackle considering how large the story for Mass Effect is and not knowing if the movie will be a hit enough to warrant sequels. Does Foehl concentrate on the first game, try and fit in the basics of the entire story in a single film or go in a completely different direction altogether?

Should Hollywood even try to attempt to make a movie based on Commander Shepard at all? Let us know what you think

  • God Of War: Ascension Pre-Order Extra Is Sparta Approved.

How About Some Leonidas With Your Kratos?

In today’s video game culture it is normal to have different retailers offer you assorted pre-order bonuses to get you to reserve a game at their store. Gamestop may have jumped the Spartan shark with their latest bit of offer for the upcoming God of War: Ascension.

When you reserve the game at any Gamestop you will be able to download a set of armor and a special spear from the movie 300. You know, that hot movie that came out five years ago. So should we just assume with this offer that Kratos and Leonidas are in the same Spartan canon? Probably not but let’s say it is true to make this seem more fun.

God of War: Ascension releases on March 13, 2013.

  • Halo 4 Gameplay Launch Trailer

November 6th is fast approaching and the return of Master Chief is at hand.

343 Industries has released a new [amazon_link id=”B0050SYX8W” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Halo 4[/amazon_link] gameplay trailer that is a little light on the gameplay. But what is shown is still beautiful and full of Halo goodness.

  • Take A Look At The Tomb Raider Box Art

The first quarter of next year is loaded with a list of great games. So much so that it almost rivals this holiday season in terms of big titles. One of the biggest is Crystal Dynamics reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise. Bringing Laura Coft back in the past and showing gamers how she became the heroine we fell in love with on the original Playstation, this new Tomb Raider has wowed at every turn and is set to be released on March 5th, 2013.

Today Square released the official box art for the game which shows our hero on the shipwrecked island from the previews. What do you think? Have you decided already to pre-order the game or is it getting lost with the likes of Bioshock and Gears of War coming out next year?

  • First Wii U Commercial Is Well…..Bad.

    British Advertisement Is Cringe Worthy.

There is no two ways about it. Nintendo needs to hit a home run when it comes to marketing the [amazon_link id=”B009AGXH64″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Wii U[/amazon_link] which is now only a month away from launch and if this first commercial running in the UK is any indication, the system is going to have a long road ahead.

I am a Nintendo fan boy. They don’t have to sell me on a system but the normal public need more than this to shell out $350 for the Wii’s successor. No mention of the TVii feature is just one forgotten piece in this disaster of an ad. Let’s all hope this is not the style that the American commercials will be because this is laughable.

    PSHEWWW PSHEWWW!!!

  • New Game Releases. October 23, 2012.

Yep, Another Military Shooter And Cabela’s Breaks With Tradition.

    [amazon_link id=”B0050SWZHS” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Medal Of Honor: Warfighter[/amazon_link] (360, PS3, PC) $59.99

So here is EA’s second part of their one-two punch to try (and fail) to take down Call of Duty. While Battlefield 3 got so much press last year it was almost hard to forget the game was coming out, Medal of Honor felt more like Sony was advertising for it. So nothing.

    [amazon_link id=”B0050SYDEQ” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Forza Horizon[/amazon_link] (360) $59.99

The franchise that puts out titles on a regular basis and is always better than Gran Turismo (without the 7-10 year waits between games) goes open world. Forza Horizon already had great racing DNA but add in producers that used to work at racing gods Codemasters and you have a beautiful racing sim that is garnering stellar reviews.

    The Unfinished Swan (PSN) $14.99

One of the most unique looking games to come along in a long time, The Unfinished Swan has a boy entering a painting left to him by his dead mother and comes into a white world that unveils its secrets as you throw balls of black paint. Hard to describe but gorgeous to look at.

    [amazon_link id=”B008PQU3E4″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Killzone Trilogy[/amazon_link] (PS3) $39.99

Sony continues to pump out the collections for their most famous franchises. Killzone 1 was a PS2 release and did not deliver on a lot of lofty promises but Killzone 2 more than made up for that with its stunning jump in graphics thanks to the Playstation 3 and great shooting mechanics. Killzone 3 was very good but didn’t feel as good story wise as 2. But still for $40 you are getting two good shooters and one very good one so not a bad deal.

    [amazon_link id=”B008HHTDP6″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2013[/amazon_link] (360, PS3, Wii) $39.99

Yeah so the only reason I am posting this is that Cabela’s has a unique tradition of releasing on the same date as Halo games which would seem like suicide and yet there continue to be Cabela’s games. But it seems that tradition is over. Here are the Mega64 guys with a little bit of the history.
