Poor Jesse. Without Walter everything is falling apart.

Need For Speed was expected to finish first this past weekend, but had to settle for a disappointing third place with $17.8 million. A new Fast & Furious franchise this is not.

300: Rise of an Empire held strong in its second weekend even though it lost its top spot to Mr. Peabody & Sherman. The CGI dog and kid combo brought in $21.2 million.

Veronica Mars cracked the top ten with $2 million playing in under 400 theaters. Nice job, marshmallows.

    1. Mr. Peabody & Sherman- $21.2 million/ $63.2 million

    2. 300: Rise of an Empire- $19.1/ $78.3

    3. Need For Speed- $17.8/ $17.8

    4. Non-Stop- $10.6/ $68.8

Mac! Logan! Wallace! Piz! Dick being a….well, dick.

Veronica Mars is back with the movie that was funded entirely by Kickstarter. She has left her sleuth days behind her and has become a lawyer with a new life until her ex, Logan, comes under suspicion for murder. Veronica is off to Neptune to investigate with her ten year high school reunion also in the works.

The movie reached its Kickstarter goal of $2 million in only ten hours. It ended with a total of $5.7 million which is a Kickstarter record.

Veronica Mars releases on March 14.

Let’s all play a game kids. It’s called “How Fast Can A Veronica Mars Movie Get Kickstarted?”

Veronica Mars was one of the most fun and intelligent shows of the past decade. It was cancelled five years ago by the CW who airs shows like Beauty and the Beast and….is One Tree Hill still on? I don’t know. But things are looking up Mars fans! Series creator Rob Thomas has started a Kickstarter for a long rumored movie that would bring back the beautiful super sleuth. Kristen Bell is fully on board and ready to get to work also. So if you are a fan go and throw them a couple of bucks to show your support.

I think it is safe to say that this will easily hit its goal. They are needing $2 million dollars to get started and in the time it has taken me to write this piece it has already grown from $934,000 to…..(let me see)….over $1,004,000 with 30 days left. This may be a Kickstarter record in the making.

Check out the official Kickstarter page here to read a message from Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell about bringing Veronica Mars back.
