So even though Captain America: The Winter Soldier doesn’t open till April 4th can we just go ahead and agree that it has won the summer movie season?
And I haven’t even seen the movie yet.
The first trailer released last year focused on the political games going on in this sequel but this newest trailer goes for more straight up “Winter Soldier kicking ass, looking just like he leapt out of Brubaker’s mind, holy shit look at The Falcon, now see Black Widow (giggity), seriously how stupidly good does Winter Soldier look, MORRRRRE FALCON!” action.
Excuse me while I put this Trapper Keeper on my lap.
For you young people, that is an older way of saying I am hiding a boner.
Can one trailer make me forget about Ferris Bueller and Moe Sizlack taxiing their way around New York and running away from lizard babies in Madison Square Garden?
No, it can’t but it is a step in the right direction.
Here it is true believers. The first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 shows off the collection of villains that Peter Parker will be facing including Electro, Rhino and a Harry Osborn version of Green Goblin. I said the other day that I was worried about the film bringing on so many villains at once but the trailer has me excited to see what they can do with it especially if it leads to the Sinister Six later on.
Spidey has the second best rogues gallery besides Batman and a lot of them have not had film time. Looks like director Marc Webb is changing all of that. I also like that this Spider-Man is so close to the Ultimate version in style and villains.
Also, I think Dane DeHaan is going to knock it out of the park as Harry Osborn.
What do you think of the trailer? Is Spidey’s greatest challenge enticing you?
After the first trailer went a different path -to my delight- the second trailer for Need For Speed veers back on the Fast & Furious track. Revenge factor: check. Group of random racial profiles teaming up: check. Howard Stark being villainous and killing a friend: yep. Totally insane car stunt involving a helicopter: you know it. Aaron Paul’s voice proving he could be Batman if he wasn’t 5’7″: a gravely voiced yes.
How about one final trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire? I liked the first movie but we get it, Katniss is awesome at the bow and the President is a dickbag. I am ready to see this so I can watch how badass Finnick is in the movie.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire releases on November 22, 2013.
The first trailer for Paul W.S. Anderson’s Pompeii is here. Starring Kit Harrington of Game of Thrones, Pompeii will be an action-packed film with a love story set against the backdrop of the historic disaster that destroys the city. When it is typed like that you almost forget it is a Paul W.S. Anderson movie. I have to give him a little credit for not having his wife Milla Jovovich in one of his movies for once.
The JFK assassination has always been one of the events in American history that always intrigued me. I remember reading my first book about the events in Dallas when I was 14 and ever since I have been hooked on anything I could get my hands on pertaining to that day and the events that led up to and followed it.
This November will mark the 50th anniversary of the tragedy and this September will see the release of Parkland which gives a recounting of events that went on at Parkland Hospital on November 22, 1963. As with anything having to do with Kennedy’s assassination, the truth is always in question, but I am more than ready to see this.
The cast includes Zac Efron, Marcia Gay Harden, Ron Livingston, Billy Bob Thorton and Paul Giamatti, who plays Abraham Zapruder, the man who shot the infamous 8mm film of the presidents death from a pedestal as the motorcade passed by.
Here is the new trailer for Ender’s Game based on the classic sci-fi work by Orson Scott Card. It fits into the mindset of every trailer this day and age of “the world is going to end and only one person can save it”. Yes, that is what Ender’s Game is about, but John A. Moviegoer is just going to see the trailer and say it looks like every other action movie in space.
The effects are nice and I am excited to see Hailee Steinfeld in her first movie since the amazing Coen Bros. adaptation of True Grit. I hope they can at least capture the essence of the book. If you are going in expecting an exact book translation you apparently have never watched any Hollywood movie based on a book…ever.
We are under a week away the release of We’re the Millers. I have been looking forward to this more than any comedy release this year and this new red band trailer simply re-affirms that thought.
Jason Sudeikis, sporting a beautiful porn stache, and the dirty-thought inducing Jennifer Aniston introduce the trailer which is a mix of scenes from the previous red band trailer and some new hilarious footage.
Why am I looking forward to this so much? Two red bands trailers and I have teared up laughing at both. Works for me.
