  • New Lego City: Undercover Trailer Shows Off More Open World, Pig Launching

lego city undercover wii u screen 1

This may sound incredible weird. Maybe it is just because I am a Nintendo fanboy and I am looking for a reason, but the more I see of [amazon_link id=”B002I0K3PM” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Lego City: Undercover[/amazon_link], the more I try to justify breaking down and getting a [amazon_link id=”B009AGXH64″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Wii U[/amazon_link]. I don’t what it is about an open-world GTA type Lego game but it gets me. The fact that it is trying to emulate an 80’s cop movie only makes me want it more.

The new trailer showcases the hero, Chase McCain, and all of the various outfits he will don  to complete his clean up of Lego City.

Lego City: Undercover releases on March 18th.

  • New Nyko Wii U Accessories Impress At CES

Nyko showed off some new [amazon_link id=”B009AGXH64″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Wii U[/amazon_link] accessories at the CES show this week and they look to be very good additions for any Wii U owner.

Above you see the Pro Commander controller which is their answer to Nintendo’s Pro Controller butthere is one big difference in that Nyko has staggered the sticks on the controller so now it is almost the perfect twin of an Xbox 360 controller. It is wireless and will hold a 25 hour charge with the battery which is well below the 80 hours that Nintendo’s controller carries. The real selling point should be the $34.99 price point which is $15 dollars cheaper than Nintendo.

Below is the Charge Station U, a dock that charges your Gamepad but also has two charging spots for Wii controllers as well as rechargeable battery packs for each. The Charge Station will also cost $34.99.

Finally, the UBoost may be the most needed accessory for Wii U owners who play for extended periods of time and need more than a few hours charge from their Gamepad. It will double the Gamepad’s battery life and also comes with a kickstand for when you sit your Gamepad down or for TV viewing. It will come in white or black and only retail for $19.99, which sounds completely reasonable.

We all know Nintendo systems are the king of peripherals but these new items from Nyko appear to be more useful than fluff.

  • Iwata Comments On Wii U Sales

    iwata1

Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata, recently gave his impressions on the Wii U’s early sales figures.

“At the end of the Christmas season, it wasn’t as though stores in the U.S. had no Wii U left in stock, as it was when Wii was first sold in that popular boom. But sales are not bad, and I feel it’s selling steadily.”

At least he is being honest about comparing the system to the meteoric start of the Wii back in 2006. Because it was near impossible to find a Wii until well into the new year whereas I just saw Wii U Deluxe Sets out in the wild this past weekend. Iwata goes on to explain that the sales may also be because of the company introducing two console sets.

“It was the first time Nintendo released two models of the game console at the same time … and I believe there was a challenge with balancing this. Specifically, inventory levels for the premium, deluxe package was unbalanced as many people wanted that version and couldn’t find it.”

Look, I think Nintendo is realistic about how the Wii U is going to sell. The original Wii was one of those concepts that hit at the exact right time with its motion controller and has gone on to sell over 100 million units. The Wii U is going to be a much harder sell but can keep up with the next generation given that Nintendo announces some killer apps that will be definite system sellers (i.e. Zelda or new 3D Mario).

  • Want A Reason To Pick Up A Pre-Owned Wii U? Here You Go.

    wii-u-console

File this under rumor for right now but a poster over at NeoGAF has found what might be a slight (not really) oversight by Nintendo. He purchased a pre-owned [amazon_link id=”B009AGXH64″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Wii U[/amazon_link] from a local retailer and found a pleasant surprise. He was able to re-download all of the digital games that the previous user had purchased digitally on the Nintendo e-Shop.

The oversight is that Nintendo Network ID’s are connected to their specific Wii U console and even after the previous user had deleted his account information, the NeoGAF user, DSN2K, was still able to download the games after he created a new account on the system. So the games seem to be linked to the system, not just to the Nintendo Network ID. So if you are out looking for a [amazon_link id=”B0050SVHZO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Wii U[/amazon_link] you might want to try getting a pre-owned system and you may end up getting some free games in the process.

  • Nintendo TVii Is Up And Running

After a slight delay Nintendo has their TVii feature up and running on the Wii U. All you will have to do is turn on your system and download a new update for the system, answer a few questions about your cable provider and you all set to go. TVii also connects to your Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant accounts.

The best part of all is that Nintendo TVii is completely free.

  • Classic Mega Man Headed To 3DS

As part of Mega Man’s 25th anniversary Capcom has announced that Mega Man 1-6 will be coming to the 3DS via the Nintendo eShop for the first time in North America. The original Mega Man will be released on December 27th with Mega Man 2 following on February 7th. Games 3-6 will be released throughout 2013.

So get ready, because if you were known for throwing your controller while playing Mega Man 2 (raises hand) you better show more restraint or a new 3DS will be in your future.

  • Nintendo Releases Pink 3DS XL

For a limited time you now have a third choice in color when picking up a 3DS XL.

The pink and white handheld is available now at Target, and Best Buy. It will be available at Gamestop beginning on December 9th. The system will be available for a limited time and cost $199.99.

Nintendo is normally the king of multi-color systems but has been a bit stingy with the 3DS XL since the system released back in August. It is currently only available in red, blue and now the limited pink.

  • Nintendo Power’s Last Issue Is A Blast From The Past

When it was announced that Nintendo Power would be ending back in August it was a bit of a culture shock. Another childhood item that would become nothing but memory.

Now the final issue is here and the folks at Future Media have gone above and beyond with the last cover. As you can see it is a great homage to the first ever issue of the magazine. Now I admittedly have not ready an issue of Nintendo power for many, many years (which I understand is one of the reason the magazine is ending) but I will definitely be picking up this final issue if for no reason then to feel like a kid again for a few minutes.
