Let’s be honest, we all knew this was coming. Naughty Dog made it official today. With all the staff changes at Naughty Dog over the past year, 2015 was a pipe dream. There is a reason why they are the best developers in the land. It will be worth the wait.

Here is part of their statement:

“So we’ve made the difficult choice of pushing the game’s release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title.

Thank you for your patience – we know the extra wait will be excruciating, but you’ll see it will be worth it as we reveal more about Uncharted 4 over the next year. The team at Naughty Dog will be heads down working through 2015 making sure that Nathan Drake’s story gets the closure it deserves. Come Spring 2016, you and Nate are in for one thrilling, emotional ride.”

  • Fight The Feels With The Honest Trailer For The Last Of Us

The future is bleak in The Last of Us. Zombies (sort of), horrific violence, teens using foul language, trying not to cry because of a f***ing giraffe. The guys at Smosh have given us an Honest Trailer that points out some of the game’s flaws, but still knows that it is one of the best games ever made.

    Damn giraffe.

  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Trailer Is Here.

    My sweet God…

Sony ended their press conference last night with our first look (no, the December tease doesn’t count) at the new Uncharted game titled “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End”.

In the trailer we see Nathan Drake awakening on a river bank as the familiar voice of Sully discusses one last job with Nate. As with all Uncharted games, we assume things don’t go as planned.

Although this is a cinematic trailer, let’s not forget that this is Naughty Dog, and I would not be surprised if the finished product looked this good.

I have watched this trailer a number of times since last night. I won’t say how many, but needless to say, it is a number that would make you question my time management…or sanity.

    Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End releases Holiday 2015.

  • The Last Of Us Movie Is Really Happening

    Joel-and-Ellie-looking

Sony has announced that they have reached a deal with Screen Gems and Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures to bring Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us to the big screen.

Raimi will be one of the producers and the script will be written by the game’s creative director Neil Druckmann.

This gives me mixed feelings. The Last of Us was my Game of the Year last year because it was such an emotional journey watching Joel and Ellie’s relationship develop. It was perfect as it was and I don’t know if a movie can match the impact of the game. Of course, I am not saying it can not be made into a worthy film with good casting, direction and Druckmann writing the script.

What do you think about The Last of Us being brought to theaters?

  • Uncharted Writer, Creative Director Leaves Naughty Dog. Possibly Forced Out?

    1530e91a14399430686d088077f6f7a0

Amy Hennig, the creative director and writer for the Uncharted trilogy, has left Naughty Dog after a decade.

Sony has issued a statement on Hennig’s departure:

“We can confirm that Amy Hennig has left Naughty Dog. Amy has made significant contributions to the game industry and we appreciate all she has done for Naughty Dog. The development timeline of Uncharted will not be impacted.”

The shocking part of this news is that those close to Naughty Dog have said that she was forced out by Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, the creative minds behind Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us.

It does seem odd that she would leave the company in the middle of development of Uncharted on PS4 so there may be some validity to the ousting.

Naughty Dog is the best developer in gaming right now and the last thing they need is internal problems like this. I loved The Last of Us (it was my GOTY) but Uncharted is their cash cow and she provided Nate, Sully, Elena and company their direction.

Whoever lands her is going to get a proven gaming great.

  • The Last Of Us: Left Behind Release Date Is For Lovers

    jpg

The single player DLC for The Last of Us, Left Behind, seems to have a Valentine’s Day release date if the picture from the PSN store stays true.

The add-on will be a prequel to my pick for Game of the Year and will feature Ellie and her friend Riley. Only one survives and I will give you one guess who. Of course, Naughty Dog could troll us all and Left Behind is a parallel universe story where Ellie and her friend have to make their way through the Rapture with guest star Kirk Cameron.

The Last of Us: Left Behind will cost $14.99 to download or free to those who purchased a Season Pass last year.

  • The Last Of Us DLC Revealed, Titled Left Behind

    Last-of-Us-Left-Behind

Oh Naughty Dog, you know just how to make me excited in all the right ways. You give me new Uncharted and now you give me more The Last of Us.

The developer announced the long-awaited single player DLC for their Game of the Year candidate. It will be titled Left Behind and has you taking control of Ellie before the events of The Last of Us. The story will include her friend Riley, who was also in the comic prequel to the game, The Last of Us: American Dreams. Something tells me things will not go well.

Of course with the title Left Behind Naughty Dog could be mind-fu**ing us all and we will have to play as Ellie as she makes her way through the Rapture and the Tribulation. This is the way my mind works. Join the fun.

The Last of Us: Left Behind will release in 2014. It will cost $14.99 and is free for Season Pass holders. Check out the trailer below.

  • New Uncharted Teased By Naughty Dog With Trailer

Sony’s big PS4 launch event aired last night on Spike TV and there were a few fun announcements for the new console but the one that held the most weight for me was the announcement that Naughty Dog is indeed working on a new Uncharted game for the new console.

A short trailer was shown as a mysterious voiceover talked about being buried alive for 15 years and not being able to outrun the past.

Is this the new antagonist for Drake in Uncharted? Is it the actual voice of Sir Francis Drake? The trailer is undoubtedly loaded with hints with the biggest one being the skull and crossbones with the three crosses in its forehead. Most comment threads have translated the language around the skull as saying “Today you will be with me in paradise”.

Could Drake be on a biblical adventure for the Spear of Destiny or some other artifact? What do you think will be the focus of the next Uncharted game?

This is a good news week for DLC involving two of the year’s biggest releases. Today sees the first single player piece for Bioshock Infinite, Burial at Sea, available for download and now Naughty Dog will reveal the first single player DLC for The Last of Us on November 14th.

The reveal will take place at the Playstation 4 All-Access event which will air on Spike TV at 11PM EST.

With a big PS4 game being revealed on Thursday and news that The Last of Us will be featured could that mean the PS4 game will be a Naughty Dog game as well? Say it is so Mr. Drake.

  • The Last Of Us Multiplayer Maps Coming In October, Single Player DLC May Be 2014

The Last of Us has been out for a few months and people that bought the $20 Season Pass have yet to see one part of the three promised DLC packs, until now. October 15th will see the release of The Abandoned Territories Map Pack with four new maps including: Suburbs, Bus Depot, Hometown and Bookstore.

Naughty Dog has not forgotten about the single player DLC that was announced as part of the Season Pass. The good news is that they are hard at work on it, the bad news is that it will not be ready until December or possibly early 2014. The main reason I bought the Season Pass was for this and while the wait may be long, I have faith that Naughty Dog will make it worth it.

The third piece of the Season Pass will another multiplayer pack and will not be available until the first half of next year.
