You will have to wait a bit longer to play the original Fable in HD. Lionhead Studios has announced that their remake of the original Fable, [amazon_link id=”B00DBCAT3W” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Fable Anniversary[/amazon_link], will not be released until February 2014 to put some finishing touches on the game.

Fable Anniversary is more than just an HD transfer. It takes the original game and The Lost Chapters expansion and changes the interface, controls, adds achievements and better load times.

This is a case of a good delay to make sure the game is ready to go instead of pushing it out before Christmas and on a selfish level because my fall was already full of games to play and a February release will be right in the sweet spot of year when I am dying for a new game to play.

Lionhead Studios revealed the next entry in the Fable franchise at Gamescom and it is taking it in an exciting new direction.

    Fable Legends will be an [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVMI” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link] exclusive title which will feature five-player co-op.

    Why five, you may ask?

Well, four friends will take control of four different character classes including a cocky prince character, a burly archer, a female mage and another female with a rather huge wooden shield to take on the forces of evil in the land of Albion. The twist comes in the fifth player who will be playing the role of villain. They will be able to view the world from a top-down perspective and will have control over the enemies the heroes face as well as setting up traps and other nefarious means to defeat the doers of good.

Intrigued yet? I know I am.

You are able to play Fable Legends as a single-player experience with AI taking over the other four roles in the game, but the game is being built to be fully enjoyed with five friends online.

No release date was given for Fable Legends. Check out the trailer below narrated by the wonderful Michael Gambon, who should really do narration for everything from airplane safety videos to feminine hygiene. His voice is that soothing.

This fall will see the release of [amazon_link id=”B00DBCAT3W” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Fable Anniversary[/amazon_link], an HD remake of the first game in Peter Molyneux’s series about choice and consequence in the land of Albion.

Lionhead Studios has already created the achievement list for the re-release except for one. The one that may come from your own brain.

That’s right, the studio is letting fans enter their own ideas for an achievement to be featured in Fable Anniversary. All you have to do is head over to the Lionhead Studios forums, read the rules and get your creative juices flowing. Be warned! There are already a lot of good ones so bring your A-game.

Fable Anniversary will release this fall.

  • Fable Anniversary Lets You Retrace First Adventure In HD

Just like with Halo, Peter Molyneux’s Fable will now getting the anniversary treatment.

Lionhead Studios is polishing up the 2004 game of choice and consequence with a new HD transfer and a brand spanking new achievement list. Fable Anniversary will also include The Lost Chapters and Smartglass integration.

Fable was a good game that never really made good on all the promises it made. Which yes, sounds like every Peter Molyneux game, but it is still a fun RPG and should be worth a return visit to Albion.

Fable Anniversary will release this fall.
