  • Star Trek 3: Shat Happens?

    Spock_and_Kirk,_1986

Star Trek 3 writer and director Roberto Orci is wanting to bring back William Shatner for a part in the third revamped Trek film. The original Capt. James T. Kirk was supposed to have a cameo in the J.J. Abrams 2009 reboot, but was cut which led to Shatner doing his Shatner thing and getting pissed.

Orci’s script has a scene which reunites Leonard Nimoy’s Spock and Kirk, whether it will really happen is anyone’s guess. I am of the thought that you can not have enough Shatner (of which I might be the minority).

With Star Trek 3 releasing in 2016 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the original series it would be a nice callback to the show’s history. Just keep Nichelle Nichols away from ever doing this again.

You can’t deny the pure animalistic fury that is James T. Kirk. Now this video showcases his top ten fighting moves that he utilized during The Original Series run. My personal favorite has always been the “Kirk dropkick” followed closely by the “see how quickly I can make Nichelle Nichols uncomfortable by rubbing my crotch against her”.

  • Diamond Toys Star Trek “Space Seed” Toy Set. Now I Am Complete.

    Star-Trek-Select-Captain-Kirk-Action-Figure

Space Seed was the episode of The Original Series that began a legend whose name was Khan. Now Diamond Toys is releasing this set which lets you recreate Capt. Kirk’s fight with the genetically enhanced warrior. You can position the set like you see above or even make Kirk give Khan his famous flying kick.

There is so much want exuding out of my body right now that I am sure the people next to me think I am ready to take them out for a nice seafood dinner and never call them again.

A Spock figure will also be released from the episode “Devil in the Dark” complete with a Horta.

  • It’s Kirk Vs. Gorn Round 2 In The Trailer For Star Trek: The Video Game

The Gorn has had an almost 50 year career off of one appearance on the original Star Trek in the episode Arena and it keeps going strong with the new ad for [amazon_link id=”B0081B1O5A” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Star Trek: The Video Game[/amazon_link]. The Gorn play a huge role in the new game and have been revamped for the J.J. Abrams universe, but the classic still has his moments when he and William Shatner have another go round.

I think it is not too much of a stretch to call this one of the most brilliant ways to promote a product. I mean, I was already getting the game to review it for you fine folks, but if I wasn’t this commercial would have me driving to reserve it now. I know, I know, the ad is in no way telling of if the game will actually be any good, but come on. They got William Shatner to fight a fu**ing Gorn again.

    And he’s 82!!

Star Trek: The Video Game releases on April 23rd.

  • Screenwriter Damon Lindelof Discusses Star Trek Into Darkness Villain Secrecy

In an interview with the L.A. Times Hero Complex, Damon Lindelof gave the reason why he thinks it is so important that audiences stay in the dark about who exactly Benedict Cumberbatch is playing in this summer’s Star Trek Into Darkness.

“The audience needs to have the same experience that the crew is having. You’re Kirk, you’re Spock, you’re McCoy, so if they don’t know who the bad guy is going to be in the movie, then you shouldn’t know. It’s not just keeping the secret for secrecy’s sake. It’s not giving the audience information that the characters don’t have.”

Well you certainly can’t fault him for that reasoning. I think many people are assuming that Cumberbatch will be playing Khan and I am certainly one of those. I am afraid that some have made such a huge deal out of this that no matter who he ends up being they will be disappointed. If he is Khan, you will have the Ricardo Montalban bandwagon crying foul and if he is a new villain, you will have a group that is pissed off that there Khan guess was wrong.

I applaud the studio and actors for being able to keep the role a secret for this long. Mystery is the spice of life. Or is that cumin?

  • New Star Trek: The Video Game Gameplay Trailer

Not a whole lot has been shown of Star Trek: The Video Game beyond a handful of screenshots since last year, but now with the game’s April release looming Digital Extremes is beginning to take the wraps off of their licensed title.

The game looks to mix a lot of different game styles together. The shooting sequences are close behind the shoulder type run and gun like Dead Space or Resident Evil while there appears to be some small exploration element like Uncharted or Tomb Raider and you even get to control the Enterprise in space battles. Hopefully all of this can come together and deliver a good movie tie-in game (for once).

  • New Star Trek Into Darkness Trailer (Yes, Another One)

If you didn’t get a chance to see the nine minute preview of Star Trek Into Darkness over the weekend before viewings of The Hobbit (one word: amazeballs) then here is the brand spanking new trailer for the followup to the 2009 reboot.

Not to be confused with the trailer shown a couple of weeks back this trailer begins with Bruce Greenwood’s Christopher Pike giving Kirk some harsh advice which then segues into the Benedict Cumberbatch voiceover from the previous trailer. The preview ends with the scene from the Japanese trailer that looks to have a bit of foreshadowing or it could just be JJ Abrams keeping us on the hook.

Star Trek Into Darkness releases on May 17, 2013.

  • Star Trek Into Darkness Poster Revealed

Yes, We Know What It Looks Like.

Let the excitement begin. Here is the first poster for J.J. Abrams Star Trek Into Darkness. The scene seems to be a decimated London as Benedict Cumberbatch’s character (Gary Mitchell?) looks out over the destruction which just so happened to fall in the shape of a Starfleet symbol. Funny how that happens.

And yes we understand that this looks like last year’s poster for The Dark Knight Rises but is that really a bad thing?

For those looking for more Star Trek Into Darkness it has already been announced that the first trailer will be shown in front of The Hobbit and that the first nine minutes of the movie will be shown on about 500 IMAX screens before The Hobbit also.

Check out the official synopsis for the movie below and let us know what you think of the poster.
