This week is the beginning of the next-gen console war where fanboys on both sides build up their system as the best out there while they play games that are available on both consoles. Five years from now Microsoft and Sony will each hold 48% of the market. Is it really a war if there is no winner?
The Xbox One is out this week and with it a host of launch games as well as some exclusives like Dead Rising 3 and Ryse: Son of Rome.
I am pretty sure you are all aware of what this week is. The next generation begins with the release of the Playstation 4 and a host of launch games. This is just the beginning because things get crazier next week with the Xbox One release and then two weeks from now is Black Friday. This week’s title should really be “Hey! Wait Till Next Week!”. There are some releases this week including the next entry in the huge gaping hole in parental wallets known as Skylanders and a new Cabela Hunting game which is actually not releasing on the same day as a Halo game. If you don’t know what I mean, keep scrolling.
Two new consoles lead the way this fall and that is not even adding in the huge payload of games that will be making their ways to shelves between now and Christmas. It can get a little confusing out there when you want so many things at the same time. We here at Nerd Rating want to make it as easy as we possibly can for you with our fall game guide. Help yourself and see when your favorite games are coming out and go ahead and hit the link to pre-order them on Amazon.
Full disclosure- we do make a small profit from all Amazon purchases made through links on the site. Help us, help you.
Another week, another list of games to spend your hard earned money on. This week continues the “year of Luigi”, Madden is back for the 25th time and the Ninja Turtles are back raising shell. Also, Lost Planet 3 is apparently still a thing because it is coming out this week. I know, I am just as amazed as you.

Well at least Microsoft is being reasonable about one thing. They have announced that first-party games from their development studios will cost $59.99. Some have wondered if the high price of development would be cause for a price hike to $69.99, but it seems we are safe for now.
Who else thinks it would just be funny as all hell if Sony announced tomorrow that games for the PS4 would be $49.99 just to f*** with Microsoft more? Won’t happen, but still…
This post is two-fold. First, for all the real gaming girls out there I will say that I respect the ever-loving hell out of you. This society may be run by nerds now, but I am sure some of you get plenty of flak from other groups of women sometimes for what you love to do. Nothing beats having a good video game conversation with a lady that knows her shit.
Second, this goes out to the guys who walk around and make fun of women who have video game themed t-shirts or other apparel and you question if they are just wearing it to be “cool” in today’s nerd world. Be careful what you speak out of your mouth.
Rae Johnston is the lifestyle editor at Techlife.net and someone made the mistake of questioning her gaming knowledge one fateful day while waiting for coffee.
Snarky guy in coffee queue eyes off my Bioshock Infinite t-shirt, suggests I “probably haven’t even played it”. So I told him the ending.
