  • Teaser Trailer For Fantastic Four Is Here And…It’s Not Bad

    Well, it does exist.

Many were wondering since we had seen nothing but a few leaked photos if this was going to make it to theaters. Add in the trouble on set that director Josh Trank (reportedly) had, you would think things were looking grim(m). I had to. Sorry.

Will people crap all over this movie before even seeing it? This is the internet so yes, but I will not be one of those people. The trailer is a teaser and that is just what it did. I have liked movies with a-hole directors before.

Anyone bitching about the origin being different, go read Ultimate Fantastic Four. Anyone bitching about a black Johnny Storm, fuck off.

    Fantastic Four releases August 7th.

Here are the quick hits from the world of movies, TV, video games, air fresheners, bowling shoes, whatever catches our fancy.

    Movies

    Fletch

Jason Sudeikis is in talks to take over the role of Irwin M. Fletcher in Warner’s reboot of the Fletch franchise. Chevy Chase played the role twice (perfectly) in Fletch and Fletch Lives. Go back and watch them and realize that Sudeikis will own this role.

    Fantastic Four

It seems the hunt for Doctor Doom has been narrowed to four actors. They are Toby Kebbell, Sam Riley, Eddie Redmayne and Domhnall Gleeson. Never heard of them? Good. I think more unknowns should get some of these comic roles going around.

    The LEGO Movie

Chris McKay has been picked to direct The LEGO Movie 2. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directors of the first movie, will return as producers. McKay has directed Adult Swim shows Moral Oral and Robot Chicken. Let’s get Seth Green involved and everything will be awesome.

    Transformers: Age of Extinction

A new IMAX poster has just been released for the robots in disguise. You could take off the Tranformers graphic and put Titanfall on it and it would work.

    TV

    iZombie

Rose McIver has been cast as Liv, the lead character in The CW’s show based on the DC/Vertigo comic. Gwen is the character’s name in the comic so who knows about the name change. I read Volume 1 of the comic a couple of years ago and found it entertaining. It does lend itself well to a TV show.

    The Big Bang Theory

Sheldon, Penny, Leonard and the rest of the gang will be around for at least a decade. CBS has renewed The Big Bang Theory for three more seasons taking it through season ten. I will never complain about more Bernadette.

    Video Games

    Mario

Mario will be invading Happy Meals at McDonald’s in March and April. For those adults (me) that will be buying them, just remember they have double hamburger meals with them for us fatties. I got fat off of regular Happy Meals, I shudder to think how much larger I would be if I could have gotten double hamburgers in them when I was a kid.

Director Josh Trank has finalized his Fantastic Four casting with Miles Teller as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm/Thing and Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm/Human Torch.

Jordan has been associated with the Johnny Storm role ever since the project was announced. He has worked with Trank before on 2012’s Chronicle.

Mara is best known recently from House of Cards where being invisible would have really helped her in the new season.

Whenever I see Teller I always associate him as the asshole friend in Project X and he played the asshole with so much gusto I am sure he can handle this. He has starred with Jordan in That Awkward Moment and has a role in Divergent.

Bell has been in movies like Jumper, The Adventures of Tintin and Defiance. Also, remember 2000’s Billy Elliott? That’s him. Now he is going to be a giant man made of rock. Maybe he will give us an outtake of him dancing in costume.

The movie will be based on Marvel’s Ultimate Fantastic Four by Mark Millar and Brian Michael Bendis. Good start.

The Fantastic Four releases on June 19, 2015.

Suddenly this Fantastic Four reboot is looking like the real deal. First they brought on Chronicle director Josh Trank to take head of the “world’s greatest comic magazine” and now it appears Fox’s head honcho for all things Marvel, Mark Millar, has pulled off another great move.

Millar tweeted that Matthew Vaughn, director of X-Men: First Class and early favorite for the new Star Wars film, has been brought on to produce the film. It does seem like an odd move for Vaughn. He was set to return for the First Class sequel Days of Future’s Past, but dropped out without warning and was replaced with Bryan Singer. Now he is back in with Marvel and Fox only as a producer.

Casting has not begun or a release date given for the new Fantastic Four.
