    OUT OF THE FURNACE

Frozen took over the top spot from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in its second week. The Disney movie has received great reviews and brought in $31.6 million. Catching Fire should have no problem reaching $400 million domestically as the first movie did. It has grossed $337 million in its first three weeks.

Out of the Furnace failed to heat up (I know, I know) bringing in only $5.3 million. With the holidays approaching I am thinking not many were looking to bring in holiday cheer with an unflinchingly violent tale of family strife.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opened at #1. We knew it would. The only question was what kind of records it would set. How about the biggest November opening ever and the fourth biggest weekend take in history? That is what $161.1 million will get you. It trailed only The Avengers, Iron Man 3 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. For more perspective the second film in the franchise has almost equaled Thor: The Dark World’s three week take in one weekend.

The final Hunger Games Book, Mockingjay, will be split into two movies with the first opening November 21, 2014 and the second a year later in November 2015. Just consider it your new Thanksgiving tradition. Turkey, cranberry sauce and Jennifer Lawrence.

If you were watching the MTV Movie Awards last night I would first like to apologize for wasting your time on that. Second, at least you were treated with the first look at the trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Of course you could have just waited for it to go online and saved yourself the trouble of watching MTV for two hours and wondering who won the award for “Best Twilight Moment Ever”.

Check out the trailer below. Katniss and Peeta embark on their victory tour as the President and Truman Capote plot to kill them both. Oh and Thor’s brother does his best Jim Caviezel impersonation.

Here are the newest set of photos from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. There are ones for Katniss, Haymitch, Cinna, Effie and Caesar and they have a washed out, classic look to them. Lionsgate has plenty of time to change all the posters to say Academy Award Winner Jennifer Lawrence.

    I actually prefer this shot.
