So even though Captain America: The Winter Soldier doesn’t open till April 4th can we just go ahead and agree that it has won the summer movie season?

And I haven’t even seen the movie yet.

The first trailer released last year focused on the political games going on in this sequel but this newest trailer goes for more straight up “Winter Soldier kicking ass, looking just like he leapt out of Brubaker’s mind, holy shit look at The Falcon, now see Black Widow (giggity), seriously how stupidly good does Winter Soldier look, MORRRRRE FALCON!” action.

Excuse me while I put this Trapper Keeper on my lap.

For you young people, that is an older way of saying I am hiding a boner.

  • Three New Character Posters For Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The poster blitz has begun for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Three new posters featuring Cap, Black Widow and Nick Fury have just been released. If we are going by the rule of three I would guess that Winter Soldier, Falcon and Robert Redford’s Alexander Pierce will be next up.

Let’s talk about my future ownership of the Black Widow poster…

    Dibs.

  • Hope You Like Black Widow, She Is A Big Part Of Avengers 2.

In an interview with MTV, director Joss Whedon gave some insight on his sequel to [amazon_link id=”B0083SBJXS” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]The Avengers[/amazon_link], Age of Ultron. He said that Black Widow will still be an integral part of the second film:

“Natasha is a huge part of the sequel, because you do want to concentrate on the people who don’t have their own franchises. Although she’s in ‘Cap 2,’ [and] she’s great. She was the most fun for me because she’s not a hero, you know, and it’s something that I read—and I feel bad that I can’t remember who wrote the book—but it’s in one of the books explaining, ‘These guys are heroes, you are a spy. It’s a different thing—it’s a different skill set—and you don’t have their moral high ground or any of that good stuff.’ And that just makes her so interesting to me. So yeah, the stuff I’ve got going on with her in the second one is killer.”

I know many people have had problems with the Black Widow character, but Whedon can put as much ScarJo on screen as he wants and I will thank him for it.

The director is also excited about having Hawkeye be a full member of the team this go round:

“It’s very much a global Avengers film. A lot of the movie has to do with their place not just in America, but the world. Part of the fun for me, definitely this time around, is writing Hawkeye. He did get possessed pretty early by a bad guy and had to walk around all scowly for most of the movie, so now it’s nice to actually have the character there and see him interact with the other guys.”

Avengers: Age of Ultron releases in May 2015.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier has officially started shooting and Marvel has sent out an image from the sequel. Cap will have to become readjusted to life in this new, modern world after the events of The Avengers. He will be pitted against his old wartime friend Bucky Barnes who has been transformed into a dangerous agent known as The Winter Soldier. With Scarlett Johansson having a bigger role as Black Widow in this story I would think they will play out a Bucky/Natasha love story (or at least plant the seeds of one).  And somehow I managed to get Scarlett’s name in a sentence with plant a seed….I have a problem.

Captain America: The Winter Solider releases on April 4, 2014.
