The new TV commercial for Batman: Arkham Origins goes for the heart showing Bruce’s motivation for becoming Gotham’s savior. We all know what that motivation is but this ad is still very well made and only adds to my excitement.

Rule of thumb in the voice acting world: never doubt Troy Baker. That rule used to be “never doubt Nolan North” but Baker has taken that over with his insanely great performances in huge games like Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us. He is also no stranger to the Batman video game world having voiced The Dark Knight in Lego Batman 2 and Two-Face in Batman: Arkham City.
Now, he takes on the biggest possible role in the Batman universe as The Joker in Batman: Arkham Origins and with Mark Hamill “retiring” from the iconic role after twenty years, how can Baker possibly live up to the precedence set before him?
Here is footage from the Arkham Origins panel at New York Comic-Con where Baker reads a monologue as The Joker from Alan Moore’s classic, The Killing Joke. Before you hit play just remember the rule mentioned before.

WB Games has announced a Season Pass for Batman: Arkham Origins. It will run $19.99 with the contents bought separately costing $30. Let’s get the rundown.

-Initiation (special challenge maps as Bruce Wayne)

No details were given on the new story content, but if it is as good as Harley’s Revenge for Batman: Arkham City then it will be well worth the $20.

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. look to have some TV competition in the form of James Gordon. Fox has won a bidding war for Gotham, a show centered on James Gordon when he is a detective in Gotham City before anyone ever heard of a man prowling the streets in a bat suit. Gotham was written by the creator of The Mentalist, Bruno Heller and has been given a series order by Fox so expect to see this on the schedule sooner rather than later. Next fall is the best bet.
Networks are quickly adding comic based series with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC and Arrow on The CW. The Flash will be introduced on Arrow this season also with the possibility of his own series down the road.
Gotham could very easily work especially if the show takes a darker tone than people expect and focus on disturbing crimes like in Criminal Minds. Casting will be interesting also because I am thinking it will be a mid to late-40’s Gordon and fans will no doubt let their opinions be known if they do not agree with whoever takes on the role.
As many of us are hours and hours deep in [amazon_link id=”B0050SXKU4″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]GTA V[/amazon_link] let’s not forget it is never too early to look ahead to our next time waster. For me it will be [amazon_link id=”B00C7103DO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Batman: Arkham Origins[/amazon_link]. I am ready to get lost in Gotham again as I curse at my TV over Riddler trophies. I have high hopes that WB Montreal can keep up the level of quality that Rocksteady gave us with the first two Arkham titles.
Recently the achievement list for the game leaked showing us some hints about the game and how multiplayer will play a part in the list.

Jimmy Fallon was the first person to get Ben Affleck’s public statement about playing The Dark Knight when the actor went on Late Night. He talks about Snyder’s ideas for Batman winning him over and how the studio tried to prepare him for internet backlash by showing him past internet comments on earlier Batman movie castings.
I strongly believe he will be great and all of this pre-movie hate will go the way of Heath Ledger’s casting and be overtaken by a good performance.
Comedian Pete Holmes has been Batman plenty of times in his series of College Humor videos, but this newest one may be the gem of the collection. He has made a new trailer for Good Will Hunting that takes Ben Affleck’s character and replaces him with Ben Affleck…as Batman.

He created the alternate covers for each of the movies in the collection. Now he has made this inspired yin yang piece based on the Batman vs. Superman movie coming in 2015. It is a frame-worthy piece to be sure.

You would think with all the Arkham Origins coverage we were excited about the game or something. Good guess.
This new video shows off the work WB Games Montreal put into the motion capture for the game. They did not go full face involving the voice actors rather they did body-only as actors matched up their motions to the voice actors performance. It is an interesting look inside the game that is worth a look.

With all the excitement for [amazon_link id=”B00C7103DO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Batman: Arkham Origins[/amazon_link] it is easy to forget that there is a handheld version coming out for the 3DS and Vita.
Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate is a 2.5D adventure that will take Batman through Gotham’s maximum security prison during a breakout involving The Joker, Penguin and more. I am getting both games at release and will be interested to see how they connect together story wise as well as if the combat can be transferred over to a handheld.
