  • Rufus Hound Shows You The “Wii U Difference”. Does It Work?

    large

So everyone knows Nintendo is struggling and those struggles extend into the U.K. So how will Nintendo remedy this?

    Price drop?

    A 3DS-type ambassador program?

    Better bundle options?

Noooo silly rabbit. They will give you a new video with British comedian Rufus Hound explaining the “Wii U difference”.

The fact that the Wii U is now nine months old and Nintendo is having to run videos still explaining that it is a new console and not a Wii peripheral shows just one of the large problems in the marketing.

Plus, I prefer my Rufus Hound with a Hulk Hogan handlebar mustache.

In this new video posted by Eurogamer we get a good look at Assassin’s Creed IV’s shark hunting. The more I watch of ACIV and the more I see they are bringing in my favorite parts of [amazon_link id=”B0050SXX88″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Far Cry 3[/amazon_link] it is really going to piss me off even more if this game does not live up to the hype like Assassin’s Creed 3.

I am pretty sure people will be wondering what the hell is going on when they randomly hear me yell “ROY SCHEIDER!!!” every time I harpoon a shark.

  • Tomb Raider Sequel Officially In Development

    2013_lara_croft_tomb_raider-wide

It is now official, we will see more of Lara Croft.

Really there was little doubt after this year’s [amazon_link id=”B004FS8LYK” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Tomb Raider[/amazon_link] reboot garnered great reviews and sold extremely well despite the fact Square complained about the sales numbers. It must be hard for them to admit that their western arm is the only thing keeping their company afloat.

CEO Phil Rogers has sent out an open letter confirming the sequel is already in development for next-gen consoles.

“I am also excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel – something you may have heard about recently.”

The game was loved by everyone here as we did a dual review for the game and both reviews agreed upon an 8.5. Even as I played the game, I remember being excited about what the development team could do with next generation hardware and I am glad we will get a chance to see.

Darrell Gallagher, head of product development at Square spoke on giving fans even more the second time around:

“It’s still early days, so I’m afraid I can’t provide any further details for now save my assurance that we’re not resting on our laurels and acclaim from Tomb Raider’s recent successes, but working hard to raise the bar even higher and re-affirm the faith you’ve shown.”

  • WWE 2K14 Gets Phenomenal

Uber-fans of The Undertaker rejoice, 2K is releasing the WWE 2K14 Phenom Edition this fall. The set will retail for $100 and comes with a coffin full of goodies.

    Here’s the rundown:

    -Coffin Tin Box

-“American Badass” Undertaker as a playayble character

    -Undertaker controller skin

    -Art card autographed by Undertaker

-Disc 1 of Undertaker: The Streak on Blu-Ray or DVD

    -The game (no sh**)

-Ultimate Warrior playable character (also available with pre-order of game)

Collector’s Editions are all the rage, but I can not see paying a hundred bucks for this set. I will be able to download the American Badass character at a later date and the tin is only going to be useful for holding used movie tickets or pot. The controller skin may gum up your controller and you are only getting one disc of a three-disc set.

Although the pot holding tin idea should have at least convinced three of you to purchase this.

    [amazon_link id=”B00CMC6HCY” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]WWE 2K14[/amazon_link] releases on October 29th.

  • Star Wars: Battlefront To Release In 2015?

One of EA’s most anticipated games is easily Star Wars: Battlefront which is being taken over by Battlefield developers DICE. A teaser was shown at E3 and nerd joy was renewed knowing that we will one day again be able to kill as many Ewoks as we want in team-based combat.

During the EA annual stockholders meeting, CFO Blake Jorgensen gave a possible release window for the revival of the title. He said the title “most likely come out around the same time that the Star Wars movies start to come out, probably in the summer of ’15.”

I’ll leave this handy video here to remind everyone of how much time was lost by me and others to the Battlefront series.

  • How Bad Are Wii U Sales? You Might Want To Take A Seat.

Nintendo released system and game sales figures for the Wii U and 3DS and to put things bluntly, the 3DS seems to be keeping Nintendo afloat. The handheld sold over a million units this quarter and moved a staggering 11 million games.

Now onto the Wii U. This is gonna hurt.

The Wii U has sold a whopping 160,000 units…from April to the end of June…GLOBALLY.

To put this simply: that is bad.

To put it in internal Nintendo speak: Are we fu**ed? We may be fu**ed. Fu**.

Only 160,000 systems in a three month period in every territory you sell in is no laughing matter. Even the Wii managed to sell over 200,00 systems in the same period. Total sales of the Wii U are sitting at 3.6 million after almost seven months of release with two new consoles on the horizon and Nintendo showing no signs of giving the system a price drop.

This has got to change. The only reason the [amazon_link id=”B002I096AA” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]3DS[/amazon_link] took off after its horrific launch was the huge price cut the system received just months after its release. Nintendo noticed that people were not going to pony up $250 for the new handheld and slash its price by $80. If the [amazon_link id=”B009AGXH64″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Wii U[/amazon_link] is to even survive to see another console cycle then this has to be step one in its rehabilitation.
