  • Grand Theft Auto 5 Requires 8GB Install

I hope you aren’t expecting to get home on September 17th and just pop in [amazon_link id=”B0050SXKU4″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Grand Theft Auto 5[/amazon_link] and start driving around Los Santos. It will probably go more like this:

    1. Go pick up the game from your local retailer (or digital download).

    2. Place disc in system (or not for digital download).

    3. See that the game has a required 8GB install.

    4. Start download and go make yourself a twinkie wiener sandwich and watch some Netflix.

The news of the install was found out during a Q&A on Rockstar’s site. If you don’t feel like scrolling, here you go:

Grand Theft Auto V is the largest and most ambitious game we have yet created, and takes full advantage of every ounce of processing power available in the current generation of consoles. In order to provide the best possible experience for such a massive and detailed world, the game will have installation requirements on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation®3 systems. For Xbox 360, Grand Theft Auto V will ship on two discs; Disc 1 will be used for a one-time mandatory install and Disc 2 will be used to play the game. After the install, players will be able to enjoy both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online without any need to switch discs.

This initial install will require an Xbox 360 Hard Drive or an external 16GB USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of free space. If using a USB flash drive it must be at least USB 2.0 with a minimum 15mb/s read speed and formatted for Xbox 360 use. A new USB flash drive is recommended to ensure optimum performance.  For PlayStation®3, the game ships on one disc and will install content as soon as you insert the game. The install is roughly 8GB, and players will be able to play as soon as the install is complete.”

Grand Theft Auto 5 releases on September 17th.

  • Don Mattrick Leaving Microsoft For Zynga

And so ends the “Summer of Mattrick”, not with a bang, but a silent ride off into the Farmville sunset.

Gametrailers is reporting that Don Mattrick, president of Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft, is leaving the company to be the new CEO at Zynga, parent company of every game with a -Ville at the end of it. One has to wonder that even though it is a CEO position is it really a better job than basically being the head of the Xbox division at Microsoft?

Mattrick’s move comes after a few months of his…let’s say… inability to word things correctly when it came to the media and the Xbox One. From saying that whoever did not have the internet could just buy an Xbox 360 or complete lack of tact talking about our military, Mattrick has been one of the main reasons for Microsoft’s PR woes since the announcement of the system. Now the company has done a complete reverse on most of the unpopular policies for their new console and Mattrick is on his way out the door. Could this signal better days ahead leading to the [amazon_link id=”B00CMQTVK0″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Xbox One[/amazon_link] launch?

How much Solid Snake can you handle?

    Wait…let’s do that over.

This video is exploding with Solid Snake.

    Dammit.

Just watch the trailer for [amazon_link id=”B00CTKHXFO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection[/amazon_link] that releases on July 9th.

  • Hideo Kojima Wants To Remake Metal Gear Solid Using Fox Engine

How many times can Metal Gear Solid be re-released? Creator Hideo Kojima is hoping for at least one more (not including [amazon_link id=”B00CTKHXFO” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection[/amazon_link]).

The master of 45 minutes cutscenes and stealthy horse riding confirmed that he is wanting to find a team that can tackle a remake of the 1998 PS One classic using his new Fox Engine seen in Metal Gear Solid V.

This excites me greatly. Sure we have had many re-releases of MGS, including the awesome Gamecube exclusive [amazon_link id=”B0000A09EN” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes[/amazon_link], but if I can get the original assault on Shadow Moses looking as good as MGS V then I am fully behind Kojima  on this one.

  • WWE 2K14 Asks You To “Become Immortal” In First Trailer For The Game

    WWE2K14_FOB_FINAL_360

If you were watching RAW last night then you probably caught the unveiling of the WWE 2K14 cover which features The Rock (as you can see above). Now take a look at the first trailer for the newly minted 2K Sports title. I hope they can keep the momentum going from last year’s game which we gave a stellar review.

Also, as we reported yesterday, if The Rock is not your favorite choice for cover boy then 2K is giving you a chance to design your own cover and have it be picked as the alternate.

WWE 2K14 releases on October 29th.

  • Exculsive: Every E3 Title Reviewed! Video Gamer TV has the Scoop on all the Hottest Unreleased Titles!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6wV4twnMew

Here at NerdRating, we do our absolute best to bring you news and reviews in a timely fashion. Unfortunately, our lack of a time machine prevents us from reviewing games that we haven’t actual played, especially the ones that haven’t even been released yet. However, I’m sad to say that we’ve apparently been going about this whole thing back-asswards, as Matt Lees and the team at Video Gamer TV have devised a solution that I would have never thought of. You see, they’ve uncovered the ability to review games based solely on their respective E3 trailers, and I have to say, they’ve pretty much nailed it. So things around here will be pretty quiet from this point forward, as there’s hardly a reason for us to continue reporting news and previews on games that you already know the score for. Hopefully we can get in ahead of the curve next year, and bring you hard-hitting reviews based on leaked pieces of possible concept art.

Lastly, I’d like to throw my hat in the ring by giving Half-Life 3 – a title that is so completely new Valve still denies it exists – a Nerd Rating of 10/10. Will it live of to the hype? Of course it will; it’s a #*@&ing Half-Life game.

  • 2K Sports Picking One Fans Design For WWE 2K14 Alternate Cover

    wwe_2k14_wallpaper_1_gfx_entry_by_accidentalartist6511-d608rva

Do you not want The Rock on the cover of 2K Sports first entry in the WWE game universe, WWE 2K14?

Well then, do something about it!

2K Sports is giving fans a chance to design an alternate cover for this years game and submit them on Twitter by using the hashtag #WWE2K14COVER. All you have to do is go here and download the art elements and assets and then pick your favorite superstar and create a cover then submit your entry.

I will be creating the Daniel Bryan “YES” Edition, so if you want to, make all the Bryan covers you can and maybe he will get the nod. You can create one cover per day to enter into the contest.
