Who doesn’t want to see Chris Hardwick dressed up as Leia? If that is just me then don’t mention it and let me enjoy my weird fantasies.

Anyway, Hardwick and his people over at Nerdist.com have released their first episode in the Course of the Force web series which will coincide with the July 9-16th lightsaber relay run of the same name which starts at Skywalker Ranch and ends in San Diego for Comic-Con.

The lightsaber used for the run has gone missing and Chris had dispatched Matt Mira to investigate and find it before the event is ruined.

  • Seal the Deal – Arrested Development Season 4 Launch

    AD Promo

I have to physically restrain myself from filling this article with inside gags, but I think I will manage; doing otherwise might alienate a few readers, and that would be a huge mistake.

    See what I did there?

If not, then I have some great news for you: Arrested Development has a whole new season to enjoy thanks to Netflix! Except, wait, if you didn’t get the joke, it means you haven’t seen the first three seasons…

Let me start over, since I may have just blown my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run, and now this whole article is a bit of a mess on my hands.

After a completely foreseeable cancellation that still caught everyone by surprise, A.D. is back for another fifteen episodes exclusive to the aforementioned streaming video service. The episodes went up yesterday, and I have already finished my initial viewing; after all, I have to give you good people a review by the end of the week. If you’re a fan of the show, you really shouldn’t be reading this anyway; you should be watching them. Go watch them.

If you aren’t a fan of the show, I have great news for you as well: The entire series was just re-released on DVD with new packaging and is currently [amazon_link id=”B00CE4L28E” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Amazon’s TV Deal of the Week at just $25.[/amazon_link]

Of course, you could just use a fake e-mail address to sign up for a one-month free trial of Netflix, which has all three original seasons as well as the new episodes… But you really expect the guy with the $25 deal to not tel you about it? C’mon!

  • Oh Dear — Amazon is Promoting Fanfiction

Let’s think back to Twilight fanfiction and how we have this ridiculous 50 Shades of Grey BS being thrown around.  Thanks to that, fanfiction is now a “big deal.”

Well, Amazon has found its bandwagon, and they’ve hopped on.

Today, Amazon announced “Kindle Worlds,” an internet community where you can submit fanfiction for licensed franchises, and maybe even get paid for it.  Licensed titles already include Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, and Pretty Little Liars.  At least there’s nothing to worry about just yet — they don’t have the proper licenses to ruin any of my favorite shows/movies/etc.  Let’s just hope that good franchises like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, etc. are all able to resist the fatal temptation.

  • Listen Up Nerds! Trailer Round-Up for May 18, 2013

Over the years, it has come to my attention that there are quite a few films out there that never really get much exposure; usually these are title from the smaller production houses, where every penny spent on marketing is one less spent on the project itself. Today, I bring you a small selection of trailers that you might never see just going to the movies.

    The Colony

Morpheus, The Day After Tomorrow, and the Walking Dead collide with Bill Paxton.

    The Phantom

Ed Harris, Mulder and Phil Yagoda go on a secret submarine ride.

    Into the White

Ron Weasley is a downed British airman who must play nice with Nazis.

That’s all for now. If you see something interesting in the videos on the YouTube sidebar, post it in the comments!

  • Listen Up, Nerds! May 14, 2013

    No Idea

So Scott usually does news posts; I’m more of a “let’s talk about things that are at least two weeks old” kind of journalist. But Scott’s on vacation! So it’s up to me to type… something.

    Metro: Last Light

The seemingly unlikely sequel to one of my favorite games is out today! We once again get to journey with Artyom through post-apoc Moscow, taking in an atmosphere that must be experienced to be believed. Check out my “Five Reasons” article for more details.

    Cloud Atlas

Also out today is my single favorite sci-fi film since District 9. An insanely sweeping tale that takes place across a millennium, yet still gives you characters you can connect with, I highly recommend it. Plus, it’s probably the last time anyone will give the Wachowskis more than $5 to make a movie.

    Injustice: Gods Among Us

A leaked document from NetherRealm seems to indicate that the next four-pack of DLC characters will consist of Red Hood, Martian Manhunter, Power Girl and Sub-Zero. This will probably draw even more flack from the folks who believe that the Bat-family already has too many characters. I’m hopeful for Manhunter; how he didn’t make the initial cut is beyond me. And I’ve always preferred Sub-Zero to Scorpion.

    Agents of SHIELD

I know we already have a post up about the full trailer, but I would just like to take this opportunity to say the following: If J. August Richards isn’t Luke Cage, I will throw a massive nerd tantrum.

That’s really all I’ve got for now, folks. I hope that at least one thing on the list made this worth the quick read. Thanks!

  • Skrillex Tries To (Dub)Step All Over Mozart In The Newest Epic Rap Battle

Is there no stopping what the guys at Epic Rap Battles can do? Check out their newest which has the dubstep master Skrillex taking on (arguably) the greatest composer of all time, Mozart. The real winner of this video are the people that made Epic Lloyd look like an exact Skrillex doppelganger. It’s damn freaky.

  • The Great Bambino Takes On The Nutless Wonder In The Newest Epic Rap Battle

Every time I watch a new Epic Rap Battle the one part that always amazes me is the writing. Like with the Nikola Tesla vs. Thomas Edison rap a few weeks back this fits in every reference it possibly can with the two characters. Ruth’s excessive eating and whoring and Armstrong’s drug use, Sheryl Crow and of course, his single, solitary nut. Applause all around.

  • XCOM: Enemy Unknown Headed To iPhone & iPad. Mac Version Dated.

At PAX East it was announced that XCOM: Enemy Unknown would be released for the Mac on April 25th, but an even bigger surprise was in store for fans of the strategy series. It will also be making its way onto the iPhone and iPad and that it will be the full version of the game not some watered down version.

“It is a straight port. We have not made any gameplay exceptions. You play the exact same game as on PC or consoles, it’s just now fully playable on an iPhone or an iPad”, says lead designer Jake Solomon.

[amazon_link id=”B006WQR3V0″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]XCOM: Enemy Unknown[/amazon_link] releases this summer for iPhone and iPad.

  • New Epic Rap Battle Let’s Tesla Get His Revenge

The guys at Epic Rap Battle are letting two giants in the world of invention a chance to verbally abuse each other. Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla make their cases why they were the greater inventor, even though Edison is remembered more fondly and famously. You see, Edison promised Tesla a huge payment for his work and then gave him the shaft.

Yeah, go read about it. Edison was a huge dickbag.

  • When Gotham Is Ashes, Then You Have My Permission To Knit

First things first. I know that crochet and knitting are not the exact same thing, but dammit I liked the title.

Will people’s creativity know no end? This Etsy seller from the UK has designed this crocheted Bane mask from The Dark Knight Rises and is selling them to the terrorist that likes to keep his breathing right and face warm.

I wish I could tell you how much they were, but I really don’t feel like doing a conversion of pounds to dollars. Feel free to break out your phone or, if you are holding onto the past, your Texas Instruments calculator and figure it out for yourself.
