  • Need For Speed Trailer…Or Braking Bad

I really wish I could take credit for that name in the title. I can’t because I saw it online so I just have to applaud whoever thought of it.

Check out the first trailer for Need For Speed starring Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul. Now before watching I have to warn you that the preview does take a different route than the Fast & Furious series has. There are exotic cars, races and explosions, but the music choice is certainly classing up the joint.

Need For Speed releases on March 14, 2014.

  • Commissioner Gordon Gets His Own TV Show Called Gotham

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. look to have some TV competition in the form of James Gordon. Fox has won a bidding war for Gotham, a show centered on James Gordon when he is a detective in Gotham City before anyone ever heard of a man prowling the streets in a bat suit. Gotham was written by the creator of The Mentalist, Bruno Heller and has been given a series order by Fox so expect to see this on the schedule sooner rather than later. Next fall is the best bet.

Networks are quickly adding comic based series with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC and Arrow on The CW. The Flash will be introduced on Arrow this season also with the possibility of his own series down the road.

Gotham could very easily work especially if the show takes a darker tone than people expect and focus on disturbing crimes like in Criminal Minds. Casting will be interesting also because I am thinking it will be a mid to late-40’s Gordon and fans will no doubt let their opinions be known if they do not agree with whoever takes on the role.

  • Thou Tis Not Prepared For Terminator 2 Spoken As The Bard

There is really no way to prepare you for this other than to just lay it all out there. This group in Nashville have made Terminator 2 into a play called Terminator the Second which takes the James Cameron action classic and gives it the Shakespeare treatment. It is two things you never thought of combining, but when you watch it, you wonder why it took so long for this idea to come about.

They are performing on October 22nd at The Belcourt Theater which is in driving distance for me. In the words of Liz Lemon “I want to go to there”.

You can download the movie online on November 1st here.

Prisoners was the easy winner at the box office this past weekend. The kidnapping thriller starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllanhaal had good reviews and took in $21.4 million. Insidious Chapter 2 fell off as expected and finished second with $14.5 million. The dance film Battle of the Year failed to find much support. I just figured it was 90 minutes of Chris Brown dancing and face punching women. The Wizard of OZ IMAX 3D also grossed $3 million from its re-release.

    1. Prisoners- $21.4 million/ $21.4 million

    2. Insidious Chapter 2- $14.5/ $60.8

    3. The Family- $7.0/ $25.6

    4. Instructions not Included- $5.7/ $34.2

    5. Battle of the Year- $5.0/ $5.0

    6. We’re the Millers- $4.6/ $138.1

    7. The Butler- $4.3/ $106.4

    8. Riddick- $3.6/ $37.1

    9. The Wizard of Oz IMAX 3D- $3.0/ $3.0

    10. Planes- $2.0/ $86.5

  • John Noble Returning To TV, Joins Sleepy Hollow

John Noble’s time away from television will not be long. The Fringe star is joining Fox’s Sleepy Hollow in a recurring role. He will play Henry Parrish who is described as “a kind and reclusive man who possesses supernatural powers that have the potential to help the series’ protagonist, Ichabod Crane.”

If you did not catch the premiere of Sleepy Hollow this past Monday, go and find a replay because it was really fun and I can easily see it being my favorite new show of the season. They did a great job in expanding the mythos of the Headless Horseman in a direction that you would not think about, but should make the show intriguing.

Now add in John Noble and I am even more excited.

  • Can The Jurassic Theme Played As A Metal Song Make A Grown Man Love Again?

    jurassic-park1_481597-650x400

The answer is yes. Yes it can.

This is Eric Calderone and he has a host of YouTube videos of him replaying movie and TV show themes (he even does Call Me Maybe) as metal songs, but there has always been something about the Jurassic Park theme that has stayed with me even 20 years after release. He has taken the classic theme and made it new again and I want this as my ringtone now. I promise I won’t change it ever again.

Check out his other videos here.

  • So What If Darth Vader Sounded Like Young Anakin?

This is the question posed in this video which replaces Darth Vader’s iconic voice by James Earl Jones with Jake Lloyd’s shrill and brain numbing voice from Episode 1. The results are horrifying as expected yet will bring you some laughs.

I suggest you watch the entire video and witness how the final space battle has been made unforgettable.

  • Amazon’s Deal Of The Day Is The Undiscovered Country Of Blu-Ray Deals

Ok, first off, that title was like the 14th pun I thought of and my brain was hurting so it is the one I went with.

Amazon is making it hard to resist your inner Trekkie (or Trekker, don’t get uppity) with the Gold Box Deal of the Day which has the Star Trek Original Motion Picture Collection for only $29.99 on Blu-Ray and $21.49 on DVD. For those of us that do not do math well that is $55.00 off the regular price and the cheapest I have seen the collection since its release.

A deal this good is worth adding Star Trek V to your Blu-Ray collection when it is this cheap. I don’t know why God needs a Starship, but I know that I need this.

    Check out the deal here.

  • Ben Affleck’s First Response On Playing Batman

Jimmy Fallon was the first person to get Ben Affleck’s public statement about playing The Dark Knight when the actor went on Late Night. He talks about Snyder’s ideas for Batman winning him over and how the studio tried to prepare him for internet backlash by showing him past internet comments on earlier Batman movie castings.

I strongly believe he will be great and all of this pre-movie hate will go the way of Heath Ledger’s casting and be overtaken by a good performance.

  • Remember When Green Arrow Fought Black Dynamite?

You don’t? Hell I don’t either, but that is what we are getting this fall when Michael Jai White comes to Starling City as Bronze Tiger. This may be the greatest thing ever to happen on the CW, although the bar is not that high to begin with.

I don’t know if this means we will eventually get a version of Suicide Squad on Arrow, but it’s a start.

And what about those T.J. Miller hand claws White is sporting?

All this episode needs to be perfect now is kung-fu treachery.
