  • District 9 Director Shows Off His Alien Film Concept Work

Neill Blomkamp made a big splash with his debut film District 9 in 2009. It was nominated for Best Picture in the process. I did not like it as many did, but did think his next release, Elysium, was more my style. His next film, Chappie, releases this March.

The director took to his Instagram to reveal that he was working on a new Alien film, which the studio may or may not have been aware of.

“Was working on this. Don’t think I am anymore. Love it though.  #alien #xenomorph”

“They didn’t really even know I was working on it ha”

Alien is my favorite film franchise. I will even defend Alien 3 (bring it) and enjoyed Prometheus even if it wasn’t what everyone expected. After seeing Blomkamp’s concept art, I would give my first born future child to see this come to fruition. Check out the shots.

Looks like Blomkamp was going to act like the events of Alien 3 never happened with the return of Dwayne Hicks.

Blomkamp’s desk with xenomorph head. Notice the Master Chief helmet possibly left over from his work on the Halo film.

The most interesting shot. Looks like Ripley in a xenomorph headdress. Note suggests it is actually the helmet of the space jockeys from the original Alien.

  • I, Frankenstein Review (From Someone Who Did Not See I, Frankenstein)

When Frankenstein rises from the dead, there is revenge on his mind.

I, Frankenstein stars Sgt. Michael Nantz from Battle: Los Angeles as the title character. He is an undead hero who is here to kick ass and say nothing about bubble gum. When a Columbian drug cartel kills his father, Frank travels to South America to avenge his loss. He gets caught up in a revolution by the citizens who want to be free of the tyrannical control of drug-raged werewolves headed by Benicio del Toro, reprising his roles from Wolf and Escobar at the same time.

The movie really picks up when he joins forces with twins Percy and Mary Shelley to infiltrate the wolves’ compound. There are plenty of nods to action classics like Lionheart, Cyborg, Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Hard Target, Universal Soldier, Timecop and Double Impact. Lots of kicks to faces and groins.

    hard-target-2

Things get complicated when Frank’s former bride is revealed to be a wolf in disguise. She sides with the cartel to help take down her ex-husband. The citizens start to question Frank’s character when a story about his past comes to light about him killing a girl trying to give him a flower. Frank is able make them believe it was all a mistake and got therapy.

The final showdown is a huge fight between Frank and the town citizens against the wolves who have taken a concentrated dose of a special drug name AbbyNormal.

Get ready for the best Frankenstein vs. drugged up wolf movie ever. You will be blown away.

  • Terminator: Genisys Trailer Is Impressive, Almost Makes Up For Bad Name

    http://youtu.be/62E4FJTwSuc

Maybe this whole Terminator reboot thing will work after all.

Just a few spots that give me hope:

    -Arnold

-Come with me if you want to live.

    -Sarah Conner kicking ass

    -I’ll be back

    -A f***ing T-1000.

I thought Terminator: Salvation was a decent movie. This trailer is better than it.

Terminator: Genisys releases on July 1, 2015.

  • New Bond Film Titled ‘Spectre’. There Is Much Rejoicing.

The 24th Bond film will be called Spectre. If you need to know why, this may not be the article for you.

The announcement was made early this morning along with the reveal of the cast which includes Christoph Waltz, Andrew Scott, Dave Bautista, Lea Seydoux and Monica Bellucci. Daniel Craig (obviously), Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Ralph Fiennes return. If you are wondering where Dame Judi Dench is, you should have watched Skyfall by now.

Watlz is rumored to be playing the top Bond villain, Ernst Stavro Blofeld, Scott perhaps as an agent of Spectre with Bautista as the muscle, Mr. Hinx.

Bond will be driving around in the brand new Aston Martin DB10.

    aston_verge_super_wide

My thoughts on Skyfall are that it was one of the greatest Bond titles ever (tied with or right behind Goldfinger). I wondered how they could possibly follow that up, and yet, they have assembled what may be the best cast for any Bond movie.

Plus, Monica Bellucci as a Bond girl. You treat her right, James! She’s a lady!

  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Roundup

The teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been out a few days now and it is the first 88 seconds of pleasure that is not followed by immense disappointment. Being the Thanksgiving holiday I did not get a chance to post it up here.

    Tadaaaa

This is old news though, right? Give the internet a few days and you will have plenty of varied ways to watch it.

    The George Lucas Special Edition

    Internet, you are fun.

  • Jurassic World Trailer Opens The Park…You Know Where This is Going

Star Lord vs. dinosaurs. Who you got?

Humanity will never learn from John Hammond’s mistakes because if they did, we would have no need for a Jurassic World movie. It seems that his dream of having the park be affordable for everyone came true. Just means more people to eat this go round.

Bonus for the creepy use of John Williams’ Jurassic Park theme (perhaps the greatest theme ever).

    Jurassic World releases June 12th.

  • Christoph Waltz Will Take On James Bond

    christoph-waltz-carnage

If there is one thing Daniel Craig has always had with his run as James Bond is great villains. From Mads Mikkelsen in Casino Royale to Javier Bardem in Skyfall, Craig has had great actors to share screen time with (we will conveniently forget Quantum of Solace).

Let’s add another name to that list.

Christoph Waltz, who has stolen the show in both Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained (winning two Oscars in the process), will be the newest baddie to try and take down 007. He will be joined by the already announced Dave Bautista as Jinx.

Skyfall is tied for the top spot as my favorite Bond movie ever, largely due to Bardem’s performance. Now I am excited as ever for Bond’s return to theaters.

    Bond 24 releases November 6 2015.

  • Margot Robbie Cast As Harley Quinn In Suicide Squad

Director David Ayer seems to be getting his Suicide Squad together for their closeup in 2016. Rumors of Jared Leto circling the role of The Joker last week should have confirmed that Harley would be a definite member and now it has happened.

Margot Robbie, who you may remember as the wife of Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street, has been cast as fan favorite psycho Harley Quinn. The character was introduced in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992 and became a permanent comic staple since.

Harley is one of those characters that comes with a rabid fan base and how she is handled in Suicide Squad is going to be scrutinized big time. That is what nerds do. To an annoying degree.

Robbie was very good in The Wolf of Wall St. with the character she was given. Let’s hope she has the goods to pull off the giddy insanity.

  • Marvel Reveals Movie Lineup Including Captain Marvel, Black Panther And More

Marvel couldn’t let DC have all the press by announcing their movie lineup. Today, at a live event, they unveiled the titles and release dates of nine features. This includes the first official announcements of Black Panther and Inhumans.

Here are the official release dates with title shots after.

Captain America: Civil War – May 6th, 2016

    Doctor Strange– November 4th, 2016

    Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – May 5, 2017

    Thor: Ragnarok – July 28th, 2017

    Black Panther – November 3rd, 2017

    Inhumans – November 2nd, 2018

Avengers: Infinity Wars Part 1 – May 2018

    Captain Marvel – July 6th, 2019

Avengers: Infinity Wars Part 2 – May 2019

    10648286_10152810915161602_7157104034552637537_o

There were a few casting notes during the announcement as well. Yesterday we found out that Benedict Cumberbatch would be their sorcerer supreme, Doctor Strange, and today they gave us more casting with Chadwick Boseman , from 42, playing Black Panther. If DC hit an infield fly with Ezra Miller as Flash, Marvel launched one 500 feet with that casting. See the first concept art of Black Panther below.

    black-panther-concept-art-389x600

    So much to take in.

-We already knew Robert Downey, Jr. signed on for the third Cap movie with Civil War being the end result. The title should be no surprise.

-The casting of Cumberbatch is great for Marvel because it means he is locked in for more than one appearance, per normal Marvel contracts.

-Guardians of the Galaxy 2 moving to the May spot shows how much they believe in the franchise after it blew up this year, making over $700 million worldwide.

-The events of Civil War will affect Thor as well it seems with the Ragnarok title. Will Loki being on the throne lead to “the end of all things”?

-Black Panther is the one character that had the most internet support to have a movie from Marvel. With the Avengers team changing its look after Age of Ultron, it is a good possibility Panther will join.

-Vin Diesel had dropped hints that Marvel was going to release an Inhumans feature and that he might be involved. Seems like he wasn’t blowing smoke up our asses.

-Captain Marvel has me the most intrigued of all of these. This will be Marvel’s first female led movie and it will come a year after Wonder Woman. They have yet to trip up in casting, so let the rumors begin on who will play her.

-Avengers: Infinity War releasing only a year apart is huge. You have to think they will film it all as one due to the actor’s contracts for appearances. Thanos will be one tough cookie to take up two movies.

  • Avengers: Age Of Ultron Trailer Makes Me Want A World Run By James Spader

If only for that voice. The Blacklist won’t run forever and watching Boston Legal only gets you so far.

A bit of a snafu happened when the first trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron leaked online a week ahead of its debut on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Instead of trying to find and delete it, Marvel did the best thing possible, they went ahead and released the official one and blamed Hydra for the leak.

    Even Marvel fails upward.

Will the trailer make your life better? Maybe not, but it can definitely help with certain things: wife leaving, sinus problems, indigestion.
